67138. Lawrence Freeman Haskell

HASKELL, Lawrence F. age 92, a life long resident of Liberty Township, passed away Wednesday December 7, 2011 in his home.

He was born November 9, 1919 in Liberty Township the son of the late Charles and Mary (Ross) Haskell.

Mr. Haskell served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a decorated combat veteran. He was the recipient of four Bronze Stars for valor and the Purple Heart for wounds received in June, 1945.

He worked as a die setter at Miami Carey from 1946-1985. Mr. Haskell, affectionately known as "Red", was a charter member of the Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department and served for over 40 years, well into his 90's. He was assistant fire chief for 30 years, and was the acting fire chief from January 1, 1961- March 31, 1961. As he lived near the fire station he often acted as the driver/engineer for old engine #1.

Mr. Haskell is survived by his daughter-in-law Kathleen Haskell, his grandson Thomas Owen (Jana) Haskell, and many other family members and close friends.

He was also preceded in death by his only son, Lawrence Freeman Haskell, Jr. on December 26, 2005.

HASKELL (Loman), Betty Ann Age 84, of Hamilton, passed away Saturday, October 3rd, 2020. She was born June 26th, 1936, in Hamilton, Ohio. The daughter of the late Charles and Aletha Loman.

She was a 1954 graduate of Trenton High School.

On September 7th, 1957, she married Ed Haskell.

Mrs. Haskell worked as an Administrative Assistant at CIT and Midland Finance companies. Later she worked at The Small World Children Center. She was a long-time member of the First Church of God, now Bridgewater Church. She served in various positions throughout the years such as the Advisor Board and Hospitality Committee. One of her legacies is cooking and serving others. She loved to prepare meals for church events or special occasion for her church family and friends.

She is survived by her Husband Ed of 63 years of marriage; four Sisters, Wanda (the late Jim) Woodrey, Dorothy Taylor, Kathy (Wayne) Bennett, and Melody (Lonnie) Proffitt; her two Daughters Pam (Harley) Bown and Donna Haskell; Son Doug (Lori) Haskell; Six grandchildren; Lee Bown, Sarah (Ken) Norman, Isaac Haskell, Emma Haskell, Heather (Jeff) Cranert and Beth (Shawn) Lykins.

She was preceded in death by her son Mark Haskell, her parents and 2 brothers, Jim Loman and Bobby Loman.

Eleanor "Jean" (Freeman) Gaible, age 66, left us to be with our Lord November 15, 1997, at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus, Ohio after a long illness. Born, raised, and lived in Williamsburg, Ohio 59 years. Graduate of Miller Draughton Business School in Cincinnati Ohio.

Preceded in death by loving mother Grace J. (Haskell) Freeman and father John L. Freeman of Williamsburg, Ohio.

Surivived by loving daughter, Patricia J. Jones of Columbus, Ohio; and many loving friends both in and outside of Ohio.

Friends may call Tuesday 1-3 p.m., 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday prior to the funeral at MAHAMS FUNERAL HOME in Williamburg Ohio, where services will be held Wednesday 2 p.m. Eternal resting place will be Williamsburg Cemetery.

FARNSWORTH. Francis P. Farnsworth, of New Britain Avenue, Hartford, died Wednesday (March 13, 1996). Born in Hartford Sept. 2, 1897, he was a lifelong resident in the Hartford area.

He was a graduate of Wilbraham Academy in 1918 and Hillyer College School of Pharmacy. He was assistant treasurer and director of Sisson Drug with which he was associated for 46 years. He was a 68 year member of Immanuel Congregational Church and a Deacon Emeritus. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Honorary Shrine Director of Sphinx Temple. He was also a member of the Executive Board of Church Homes, Inc., Sons of the American Revolution, Society of Descendants of Founders of Hartford, Connecticut Historical Society, Open Hearth, Hartford Civitan Club, Old Guard of West Hartford, where he was chairman in 1974, and the Connecticut Pharmaceutical Association. He was a volunteer at Hartford Hospital for many years. He served in the U.S. Army Ground Observation Corp in West Hartford during World War II.

He leaves his wife, Marion Gledhill Engstrom Farnsworth; a son, Dr. Wells E. Farnsworth of Bloomingdale, IL; three daughters, Mrs. Robert D. Slimmon of Southport, CT, Westerly, RI and Ft. Myers Beach, FL, Mrs. Henry B. Armstrong of San Rafael, CA and Mrs. John C. French of West Hartford and Belvedere, VT; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and a great-great grandson.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor Wells Farnsworth in 1977 and a daughter, Mary Jane Holt in 1969.
