PEORIA -- Warren M. Dunham, 70, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Peoria, died Friday, July 19, 1996, in Oklahoma City.

Born Dec. 23, 1925, in Winchester to William and Helen McLaughlin Dunham, he married Hazel Jones in June 1942 in Bowling Green, Mo. He later married Katherine Harger in 1952 in Washington, D.C. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Randy (Sherrie) Morrison of Downers Grove; two sons, Bradley of Peoria and Matthew of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carol Pemberton of Minnesota.

He was a salesman with Gaylord Container Corp. in Rock Island. He later was a Realtor with Dunham Realty in Downers Grove.

He was an Army corporal during World II and the Korean War. He was awarded the Bronze Star and served in the European Theater during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was a former member of First Methodist Church in Moline.

She was survived by her sisters, Helen Williams of Davison, Michigan, Rhea McGhee of Pontiac, Michigan, Waina Schofer of Davison, Michigan and Jo Anne Blake of Clio Michigan; three children, René Harger of Knoxville, Tennessee, Janet Harger of Edmond, Oklahoma and Matthew Dunham of Eastern Oklahoma; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.

Carole Lucile Pemberton, age 77, of New Hope. Passed away June 20, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.

Survived by her devoted husband, Theodore (Ted); daughters, Dawn (Shayne) & Kara (Jerry) and grandchildren, Alison (Shawn), Andrea (Russ), Daniel & Sierra.

Carole was a wonderful mother, fantastic grandmother, leader, volunteer and a source of constant strength for family and friends that she met along the way. She had a beautiful smile that was quite recognizable and projected the warmth of her personality to everyone. Carole worked many social and civic projects such as Blue Birds, Grade School Activities, Kids Care Connection, I.O.C.P, Light of Hope Ministries, United Methodist Women, Messiah Church Bake Sale, and Vacation Bible Camp. Carole will be greatly missed by her many friends, and her family of which she was the rock and the leader.

Theodore "Ted" Pemberton, age 92 of Minnetonka (formerly New Hope), entered the arms of Jesus and eternal peace on January 15, 2023.

Ted was born September 18, 1930, in Peoria, Illinois to Leeman and Delilah Pemberton.

After graduating from Woodruff High School, he served his country in the US Air Force as a Military Police Officer. He graduated from the University of Illinois Champagne and went on to attain a master's degree from University of Wisconsin Superior. He married the love of his life, Carole, on July 1, 1956. They moved to Minnesota in 1961 and Ted began his 30+ year teaching career in the Robbinsdale Area School district. He taught English and Social Studies, was Audio Visual Coordinator, Athletic Director as well as the Cooper High School summer school principal. He was the Coach for Boys Swimming and Boys & Girls Tennis at Hosterman Junior High School. He was Chairman of the Teacher Federal Credit Union and served on the Board of the Credit Union for many years. He was a MN State Swim Official and Starter for both Boys & Girls State Swim Meets for decades. After his teaching career, he and Carole ran an infant daycare out of their home for several years and then before fully "retiring" he worked for Prime Builders as their project manager. Ted enjoyed fishing with his brother and friends, traveling the world with his wife, tending to his garden and yard, attending his grandchildren's events and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church where he was part of the original "Dream Team", involved with the creation of Bloom Daycare as well as a founding member of Imara International school for women in Nigeria. Ted was a 60+ year member of The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Illinois, White Hall Lodge No. 80.

His love, humor and memories will be cherished by his daughters, Dawn (Shayne) & Kara (Terry); grandchildren, Alison (Shawn), Andrea (Russ), Daniel (Karlie) and Sierra; great grandchildren, Nathan, Dorothy, Joel, and Russell "Vee"; brother Jerry (Katzy) Pemberton, niece Deanna, and nephew Kurt, and a host of longtime friends.

Ted was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Carole on June 20, 2010; and his brother, Richard "Dick" Pemberton on July 20, 2022.

James T. Smith, a veteran of the civil war, died Sunday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the family home, 116 East Eighth street.

Mr. Smith was a native of Indiana, being born there May 2 1834, and was married there in 1874 to Martha Mathews. Three children, Marion T. Smith and Morris O. T. Smith, of Oklahoma, and Charles T. Smith, of this city were born to them,


66981. Clarence Elmer Delano

Clarence Elmer DELANO, a pioneer resident of this area, died at 2:50 a.m. Sunday in Sanford Hospital. He had lived in Perryton 15 years and had previously lived in Beaver County since 1920.

Clarence Elmer DELANO was born December 22, 1885, at Hutchinson, Kansas, to Albert and Georgia Anne DELANO. The family moved to Woods county (now Alfalfa county) near Cherokee in the spring following the opening of the Cherokee strip in 1893.

There he attended a sod school and Church, where he was converted to Christianity. Here he grew to manhood.

Mr. DELANO followed the pioneer spirit of "moving West" and moved to a farm 15 miles north of Perryton in Beaver County, Oklahoma, in July, 1920. There he farmed until retirement in 1947. He has made his home at 1105 South Baylor in Perryton since.

He was married to Fannie Agnes WAKEFIELD at Alva, Oklahoma, on November 06, 1907. To this union were born four children, including Mrs. Desley (Sylvia) TICE of Gray, Carl DELANO of Hooker, Lester DELANO of Wichita, and Mrs. Bruce (Belva) FORNEY of Perryton.

In addition to his immediate family, Mr. DELANO is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lettie WILLIAMS, of Bryon, Ohio, and Mrs. Bertha BORGART of San Lorenzo, California; a brother, Alva DELANO of San Diego, California; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

OBITUARY OF FANNIE AGNES DELANO

Mrs. DELANO died last Monday at the Beaver Nursing Home.

She was born in Fair Play, Missouri, and moved to Beaver, Oklahoma in 1920, and then to Perryton in 1946. She lived in Beaver for the past 10 years.

Mrs. DELANO is survived by two daughters and two sons; Sylvia TICE of Liberal, Kansas; Belva SMITH, of Perryton; Carl E. DELANO of Hooker, Oklahoma; and Lester A. DELANO of Wichita, Kansas.

Other survivors include three step-sisters, Grace ORINGDERFF, Marshie KENLINK, and Mary KENLINK, all of Cherokee, Oklahoma, and a brother, Willis WAKEFIELD, also of Cherokee.

Mrs. Mary A. Harsha, 82, 1426 N Third St., a resident here since 1925, died Friday in Colorado Springs.

Mrs. Harsha had been visiting there with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bob May, 1501 N Seventh St., who also own a home in Chipita Park, Colo.

She was born Feb. 11, 1887 at the Kaw Agency, Indian Territory, to Robert and Amanda Delano Puckett. Her father ran the Indian Trading Store and he and his family, the postmaster, doctor and teachers at the Indian Mission were the only non-Indians in the area.

After Kaw City located across the river, the town was named Washunga to honor the last chief of the Kaws. Her father made the Cherokee Strip run in 1893 and she was reared on a farm near Kaw City.

She started teaching country schools at the age of 17 and after additional schooling she went to Reno County, Kan., where she taught school for two years.

She was married to William L. Harsha Dec. 1, 1910, at her parents home in Kaw City.

They spent nine years at Partridge, Kan., in the general merchandise business. In 1952 the couple moved to Arkansas City where he bought a grocery store and operated it until 1953 when he retired. He died in May 1963.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Bob (Wilma) May, 1501 N Seventh St., two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Jenkins, 906 N Summit St., Miss Cora Puckett, Hornell, N.Y., and one brother, J.T. Puckett, Cincinnati.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Howard, who died in 1969 and Robert who died in 1945.

Alice Isabel Haskell, 82, Kansas City, Kan., died July 4, 1991, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She was born in Richmond and moved to Kansas City, Kan., in 1929.

Miss Haskell was a switchboard operator for the Business Men's Assurance Co. of America for 43 years, retiring in 1971. She was a member of the Central Avenue United Methodist Church. She was a member of the PBX Club and a past member of the Business and Professional Women's Club. She was a member of the Roanoke and Victory Drive senior citizens clubs. She was a volunteer for Cancer Action Inc.

Survivors include a sister, C.A. Redd, Kennewick, Wash.
