BAR HARBOR - Vernon W. Tracy, 62, died Friday at a local hospital after a long illness.

He was born at Steuben October 14, 1899, son of Ira and Sadie (Young) Tracy.

He was a resident here for 40 years and was employed by the Brewer Ice Company for a number of years. He was employed at the F.E. Sherman Company for nine years, retiring three years ago.

Surviving besides his mother, of Bar Harbor are his widow, Mrs. Amelia Tracy of Bar Harbor: two sons, Jackson of the U.S. Marine Corps. California, Prescott of Norwich, Conn.; a daughter, Mrs. Ida Leonard of Norwich, Conn.; two sisters, Mrs. Alton Batson of Gouldsboro, Mrs. Lyne Bates of San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren.

Evelena T. Batson, 89, wife of the late Alton A. Batson, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at her home in Gouldsboro. She was born Aug. 29, 1914, in Steuben, the daughter of Ira S. and Sadie E. (Young) Tracy.

For many years, Evelena was a member of the S.O.S. Club in Gouldsboro. She enjoyed nature, and loved going for rides and seeing wildlife.

Evelena is survived by two children, Leigh T. Batson of Gouldsboro, and Martha Scott of Sorrento; four grandchildren, Peggy Tracy and her husband, Dana, of Prospect Harbor, Harold Batson and his wife, Ann, of Ellsworth, Michael Batson and his wife Kathy, of Ledyard, Conn., and Robert P. Scott and his wife Elizabeth, of Sullivan; eight great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and many neices, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, Evelena was predeceased by a daughter, Elsie Harriet Batson; three brothers and a sister.

SORENTO - Edward C. Bragdon, 79, died May 9, 1977 at a hospial in Ellsworth following a long illness.

He was born in Sorento August 13, 1897, the son of Leaonard and Minnie Smith Bragdon.

He was a member og the Acadia Barracks WWI, Bar Harbor.

He is survived by his wofe, Kathleen Perry Bragdon, Sorrento; three daughters, Mrs. Valerie Finigan, Winter Harbor, Mrs. Jean Guite, Malden, Mass., Mrs Edda Church, Ellsworth; three grandchildren; one nieces; two nephews and one half-nephew.
