December 2, 1999KENYON Harriett Hardy Kenyon, 89, died Saturday, November 13, 1999 in Asheville, N.C.
Mrs. Kenyon was the daughter of the late Kathrine Danforth Hickok and Frederic Llewellyn Hickok and was a former resident of Cleveland, Oh., New York City and Westwood, Mass.
She summered for 63 years in Hollis, N.H. Mrs. Kenyon grew up in Cleveland, attended Connecticut College for Women and graduated from Flora Stone Mather College of Western Reserve University.
She married her first husband Rodney Clinton Hardy in 1936. They lived in Shaker Heights, Oh. until 1957 when she and her family moved to Lake of the Woods in Galena. For many yars she was active in civic and community affairs in the Columbus area. Among her most cherished work was with Planned Parenthood of Central Ohio where she served as both Head of Volunteers and President of the Board of Directors. She was a member of Broad Street Presbyterian Church and Rocky Fork Country Club.
Following the death of her first husband in 1981, she married W. Houston Kenyon of New York in 1982. The couple continued to spend their summers at Lake of the Woods until 1990. Her second husband died in New York in 1996. She moved to Fox Hill Village in Westwood, Mass. later that year.
Mrs. Kenyon is survived by a daughter, Ann Hardy Porter of Asheville, N.C. and Hollis, N.H., and her children, Cedric Warren Porter III, Sarah Edwards Porter and Rodney Hardy Porter. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rodney Danforth Hardy and Katharine Ducey Hardy of Minneapolis, Minn.; 3 additional granddaughters, Katharine Hardy Erskine, Elizabeth Hardy Carey and Johanna Hardy Willegalle; 4 great-grandchildren.
