He leaves his wife, Anna (Nass) Corbett; two sons, Daniel H. Corbett of Fitchburg and James Corbett of Hidden Valley, N.Y. He was born in Gorham, N.H., son of Edmond and Ida (Moore) Corbett, and lived here many years.
Mr. Corbett was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
Mr. Corbett was a machinist at General Electric Co. in Fitchburg for 18 years, before retiring many years ago.

November 21, 1995LEOMINSTER - Anna I. (Nass) Corbett, 74, of 290 Joslin St., died Sunday in Burbank Hospital, Fitchburg, after an illness.
Her husband was the late Harold A. Corbett. She leaves a son, Daniel H. Corbett; a brother, Leo T. Nass; a sister, Lillian Nass, all of Leominster; and a grandson. She was born in Leominster, daughter of Irvin and Catherine (Flaherty) Nass.
Mrs. Corbett was a member of St. Bernard's Church, Fitchburg.

October 10, 1996Raymond E. Cummings, 87, of Nash Road died Wednesday at a Portland hospital.
Born at Albany, a son of Stephen E. and Mabel Baker Cummings, he attended Kennebunk and Portland schools. Mr. Cummings worked in the grocery business for First National Stores in Portland. He also worked for the former White Brothers stores in Cape Elizabeth and for A & P in Portland.
Mr. Cummings owned and operated Ray's Cash Market on Sherman Street in Portland. He also worked for the John J. Nissen Baking Co. and delivered in the Brunswick area. Later he worked for S.D. Warren Co. for 26 years, retiring in 1973.
He moved here in 1948 from Westbrook, where he had owned and operated Ray's Bike Shop before moving it to Windham.
Mr. Cummings was a member and past chancellor commander of Piscatiqua Lodge, Knights of Pythias; former member of the Triangle Club and was instrumental in its development; member of Windham Drifters Snowmobile Club; the Maine Snowmobiler's Association; Pine Crafters; Good Sam Club; and an honorary member of the Lake Region Good Sam Club.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, motorcycling, snowmobiling and visiting coffee shops. His CB handle was ''Putt Putt.''
Surviving him are his wife, Ethel L. Horr Cummings of Windham; two daughters, Nellie R. Knight of Windham and Elizabeth R. Cummings of Gray; two grandchildren, Jennifer R. and Caleb E. Cummings, both of Gray.

February 14, 1999Avis M. Rand, 93, died Friday at Bridgton Health Care Center following a brief illness.
She was born in Sweden, Maine, a daughter of Lindon and Myra Cummings Merrill. She attended Sweden schools and was a graduate of Bridgton High School.
Mrs. Rand had been employed as a moccasin lacer at the Sioux Moccasin Company in Harrison.
She married Beryl Rand on June 8, 1929.
She was a member of the Bridgton Christian Alliance Church.
A son, Paul Rand, died in 1997.
Surviving are her husband of Harrison; two sons, Arthur Rand of Norway and John Rand of Harrison; two daughters, Lillian Rich of Florida and Linda A. Knight of Harrison; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

March 4, 2009WHITMAN Jennie A. (Cummings) Hanby, 89, died Monday, March 2, after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife for 66 years of Robert T. Hanby. Born in Bethel, Maine, she was a daughter of the late Alva and Jennie (West) Cummings.
During World War II, Jennie worked as a riveter, in New York, building airplanes, later moving to Whitman in 1942, where she remained a resident for the past 67 years. At the age of 51, Jennie proudly graduated nursing school and worked for the Veteran's Affair Hospital, in West Roxbury, until her retirement at the age of 62. She enjoyed knitting, reading and crossword puzzles, but her greatest joy came from time spend with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Robert Hanby of Maine, Gayle Hanby of Whitman, Stephen Hanby and his wife Marsha of Plymouth, Donald Hanby and his wife Amy of East Bridgewater and Nicole Hanby of Whitman; her sister, Esther Anderson of Brockton; her sister-in-law, Mardie Cummings of West Bridgewater; her grandchildren, Heather, Cara, Bob, Elaine and Eric; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Randy, Charles and Harold Cummings, Mary Rowell, Jessie Kelly and Elsie Tetrault and mother-in-law of the late Doreen Hanby.

November 2, 2013Robert T. Hanby, 97, died Thursday, October 31, after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband for over 66 years to the late Jennie (Cummings) Hanby. Born and raised in Whitman he was the son of the late Robert and Sophia (Beamish) Hanby.
Robert was a proud veteran of World War II having served in the US Army from 1941-1945. He had served overseas from 1943-1945, and was a survivor of the invasion of Normandy. He was a lifelong Whitman resident, and after returning from the war, had worked for over 50 years for the DB Gurney Tack Company of Whitman, from which he retired. He loved watching sports and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He had also enjoyed working around his house and yard, but his greatest joy was his family.
He was the loving father of Robert Hanby and his late wife Doreene of Maine, Gayle Hanby of Whitman, Stephen Hanby and his wife Marsha of Plymouth, and Donald Hanby of Whitman. He is also survived by his grandchildren Heather, Cara, Bobby, Elaine, and Eric and his great grandson Xavier, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Elizabeth Hanby.

July 12, 2011Esther E. Anderson, of Brockton, died July 8, 2011. Born in Bethel, Maine, she was a daughter of the late Alvah R. and Jennie B. (West) Cummings.
In 1925, her family relocated to Abington, where she attended local schools and graduated in 1938 from Abington High School. In November 1940, she married the late Chester Anderson of Brockton, and moved to Brockton, where she resided for over 70 years. Over the years, Esther worked as a bookkeeper for the former Kemp Transportation Company of West Bridgewater, retail clerk for Top Value Stamps in both Brockton and Rockland, and lastly, as a letter carrier in the West Bridgewater Post Office, from which she retired in December 1982, after over 11 years of service to the U.S. Postal Service. She enjoyed reading, Scrabble, card games, puzzles, stamp collecting, fishing and poetry. In the mid 1950s, she wrote under the name of Crandy as a contributor of poems relating to family life to the Cousin Mary page of the Brockton Enterprise. Of most importance to Esther was her family, and she remarked in later life that having six married children meant that she now had 12 friends.
She was the mother of Sally Corcoran of Hebron, Maine, Judith Fuller of Plympton, Richard Anderson of Williamstown, Linda Bartol of West Bridgewater, Chester R. Anderson of Halifax and Laurie Monahan of Brockton. She was grandmother to 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Randall, Charles and Harold Cummings, Jennie Hanby, Mary Rowell, Jessie Kelley and Elsie Tetrault; and sister-in-law to Mardita Cummings of West Bridgewater and Bob Hanby of Whitman.

April 1, 1992Laurence A. Rowell, 73, of 37 Emory St., an employee of Texas Instruments until retiring in 1981, died Monday at home. He was the husband of Mary (Cummings) Rowell.
Born in Brockton, a son of late Alburtus and Ethyl (Ford) Rowell, he lived in Attleboro for 25 years.
Mr. Rowell was a member of Masonic Lodge 615, Pine Plains, N.Y., since 1953.
Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Laurence Rowell of Freeport, Maine, David G. Rowell of Carver and Douglas A. Rowell of Attleboro; seven daughters, Elsie Webber of Mansfield, Donna Journeau of Bellingham, Beverly Parker of Carver, Sheila Cruz of Wareham, Deborah Frechette, Lauri Cummings and Mary Baenziger, all of Attleboro; three sisters; three brothers; 21 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
