Richard K. Montgomery, 77, a retired advertising executive and longtime Deerfield resident, died Saturday in Lake Forest Hospital. Mr. Montgomery served as executive vice president of the now defunct Clinton E. Frank advertising agency. He retired in 1972 after a 60-year career in advertising and journalism. After graduating from Dartmouth College, he joined United Press International in 1935, where he became foreign news editor of the radio division. Mr. Montgomery was a Navy veteran of World WarII.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, Warren and Richard; two daughters, Carol Whittlesey and Joan Clinton; four brothers; a sister; nine grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.

Lawrence N. Button, 91, of Sarasota, FL, and formerly of Medway, MA and Franklin, ME, died March 2, 2014. He was born November 3, 1922, graduated from Framingham High School, and attended the University of Vermont for one year, then transferred to MIT. At MIT, he joined the ROTC. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1944, and subsequently served in the U.S. Merchant Marine. MIT awarded him a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1946. He worked two years at Draper Corporation in Hopedale, MA, but found his true calling as a biomedical engineer with Fenwal, Inc., first at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, then at Children's Hospital in Boston in the pioneering field of blood preservation. During retirement, he became a dedicated volunteer at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital in the winter and at the Franklin Historical Society in the summer.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Hoag Button. The couple married October 30, 1944, and had three children. He also leaves a grandchild and great grandchild.

Ann Hoag "Nancy" Button, 84, Sarasota, formerly of Medway, Mass., and Franklin, Maine, died Sept. 15, 2007.

Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Lawrence; a brother, David; three children; and a grandchild.

Ann grew up in Holliston, Mass., with parents Alden and Helen Hoag, and brother David. She graduated from Holliston High School in 1940. Ann met the love of her life, Lawrence Button, in dancing school. The couple married Oct. 30, 1943, in her parents' home.

Ann received her B.A. in psychology from Radcliffe College, Cambridge, Mass. Ann and her husband raised three children in Medway, Mass.

Dedicated to the community, Ann volunteered for the Girl Scouts. Her hobbies included sewing, painting, piano music, gardening and bird watching. In 1960 she joined the work force at the First National Bank of Boston. In 1969 she began her career at Brimmer and May School in Newton, Mass.

She and her husband spent their active retirement years on Lido Key, Sarasota, in the winter, and in Franklin, Maine, in the summer months. Ann put her love of history to action by volunteering for the Sarasota History Museum and the Franklin Historical Society where she served as secretary for many years. Ann, known to family and friends as Nancy, is remembered for her kindness, polite manners, and her love for the extended family.

TULLY, Marian Elizabeth "Betty" Haskell, of Richmond, Virginia and Deer Isle, Maine, formerly of Media, Pennsylvania, died on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at the age of 88.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace J. and Marian S. Haskell, both born and raised in Deer Isle, Maine.

Betty is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Harry R. Tully Jr.; her daughter, Patricia Tully Leitch and her husband, Robert E. Jr.; her son, Robert M. Tully and his wife, Lisa K., all of Richmond; her granddaughters, Elizabeth Bell Leitch, Katharine Adele Leitch, Melissa Tully Barr and her husband, William; her grandson, Jackson Haskell Tully and his wife, Araksya A.; and her great-grandson, Miles A. Barr.

Betty spent most summers of her life in her beloved Deer Isle, Maine, which was her favorite place on earth. She loved the beautiful water views and the history of the island. She was a devoted and talented docent at the Deer Isle Historical Society, where...
