April 21, 1936Bar Harbor - April 20 - Mrs. Ada M. Emerton, 68, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Bunker at an early hour Saturday morning.
She was the daughter of George amd Phoebe Young Torrey and was born in Surry, the widow of Rodney S. Emerton, who died in 1922.
Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Bunker, Mrs. M.B. Curtis of Bar Harbor, Mrs. Gladys Nickerson of Brunswick, Mrs. Velma Rist of Ellsworth, and Mrs. Harry Moon of Surry. There are 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Emerton was of many fine traits of character, beloved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Methodist church.
Jonathan Torrey was a fisherman (1870 Deer Isle Census). He is listed as a farmer at age 74 in the 1920 Federal Census for Deer Isle. He served in the US Navy during the Civil War.
Judson Torrey was a sea captain.
