September 25, 1915After an illness extending over the past two years, Mrs. Ruth Marion Howard, wife of Judge Clarke Howard of this city, passed to her final rest at 5:30 p.m. last Friday at the home of her mother, Mrs. S.J. Altar, on Sacramento street, surrounded by near relatives.
She was a native of Massachusetts, having been born at Newburry Port, July 2, 1868, and came to California when an infant with her parents by way of the Isthmus of Panama.
Her life was practically spent in Placerville, and her friends here are legion.
March 8, 1903, she was married to Clarke Howard, and in addition to her husband is survived by her mother, and two daughters by a former marriage, Mrs. E.A. Tagtmeier and Mrs. H.E. Dillinger, and an infant granddaughter, Marion Alice Dillinger.
Mrs. Howard was of retiring, homelike disposition, and endured the trials of her long illness with murmur or complaint, being cheerful and hopeful to the last. P
