ARTMAN, LOUISE DYER
Louise was born June 21, 1909 in Boston, MA. She graduated from Connecticut School of Agriculture (now UCON) earning her B.S. and the first M.S. in home economics granted by the school.

She married Rev. Donald Hills Artman in 1934 after he completed his Theological degree at Boston University and they spent many years serving Methodist churches in IA. The moved to CO in 1981. Louise dedicated her life to family, membership in various clubs and philanthropic organizations and volunteerism in church and numerous non-profit agencies. She received many national, state, and local awards. Her compensation was the joy she derived from helping others. Her last award came in Feb., 2003, for her years with the New Foundations Non-Violence Center's one-on-one visitor program with inmates at the Denver County Jail. She volunteered for years with Church Women United and Women in Community Service, groups that work with women's issues such as Job Corps. She received CWU's top national award based on her extensive community service. Louise never sat idle. She was a gifted leader and many people whose lives she touched enjoy her handmade Christmas ornaments and/or jewelry.

Reverend Donald Hills Artman, 87, of Aurora died Jan. 3 in Denver

He was born in West Branch, Iowa, and was a Methodist minister for 40 years and an Army chaplain for two years.

Rev. Artman is survived by his wife, Louise; one daughter, Charlotte of Denver; one son, Robert of Arvada; one sister, Miriam Womack of Melbourne, Iowa; and one grandchild.
