Lola M. Amick

Find-a-Grave

Mrs. Lola Morgan of Datto was born near Scipio, Indiana, April 2, 1866; died June 6, 1934; aged 68 years, two months and four days.

She was a daughter of John D. and Martha Amick, a member of a family of nine children, six sons and three daughters; her father, mother, a brother Sam; and a sister Lena having preceeded her in death.

Surviving are her brothers Elmer, Pink, Bert and Clyde and a sister Rose of Indiana and Charles G. Amick of Datto.

The early part of Mrs. Morgan's life was spent near Scipio, Jennings County, Indiana, where she married Charles B. Morgan on October 12, 1886. To that union were born two sons: Willis, now of Minneapolis, Minn., Clarence E. and a daughter Mrs. Nellie Rawlings of Datto.

Mrs Morgan, her husband, and children, in November, 1904, came from Indiana, located on a farm near Datto, lived here almost continuously, and on this farm Mrs Morgan spent the last years of her life. Mr Morgan preceeded her in death on Dec.11 1920. She and her husband were among the charter members of Datto Methodists Church, both having been devoted Methodists throughout their lives.

Mrs Morgan's church work was her greatest enjoyment; she, with others, having labored faithfully, that the church might prosper.

During recent years, Mrs. Morgan lived alone in her little farm-home, and, although not strong-suffering a heart ailment for a number of years-she preferred her home, rather than the homes of her children. Her death came rather suddenly, having been about her usual duties the previous day, but-near midnight-her daughter, who was spending that night with her, found her very ill. A physician, who was summoned, observed that death was near, and, at 1:15 a.m., June 6th, she passed on to that Great Beyond. Surviving are her three children, other of her reletives, including 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild; also a host of dear friends to mourn her death.
