Barbara Z. Holt, 80, of Utica, and a summer resident of 3rd Lake, passed away Monday, August 28, 2006, at Martin Luther Home with her loving family at her side.
Barbara was born on August 29, 1925 in Utica, the daughter of Burton and Maude Walters Zoller. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On December 1, 1944, Barbara married Robert D. Holt in New York City.
Barbara was employed as a secretary at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, retiring several years ago. She was a member of Historic Old St. John's Church and the Guild of St. Johns.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Robert, and constant companion, "Kix"; two daughters, Donna Williams and her husband, Frank, of Utica, Mary Holt of Old Forge; two sons, Robert Holt and his wife, Marie, of New Hampshire, James Holt and his wife, Chris, of Inlet; nine grandchildren, Robert, Jr., Lisa, Meghan, Lauren and Courtney Holt, and Kyle, Kristen, Ryan and Kimberly Williams. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Betty Phiffenberger of Ohio, and Mary Holt of New Hartford; and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara was predeceased by a half-sister, Marion Delmont and her husband, Al; brothers-in-law, Frank and Martin Holt, and Ed Phiffenberger; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Powers, Jane Murphy and Gladys McKay and their spouses.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from Surridge & Roberts Funeral Homes, 470 French Rd., Utica, and 9:30 a.m. from Historic Old St. John's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Remembrances in Barbara's name may be made to the Food Pantry of Historic Old St. John's Church. Robert D. Holt, 81, of Utica/Old Forge/Port Orange, FL, passed away Monday, April 30, 2007, in Port Orange, Florida, with his loving family by his side.
He was born January 20, 1926, in Utica, the son of James H. and Alice Redmond Holt.
Bob graduated from UFA and was a WWII Navy veteran. On December 1, 1944, he married Barbara Zoller in New York City. She passed away on August 28, 2006.
Bob was a retired employee of Chicago Pneumatic. Later he was associated with the real estate office of Harold and Frances Williams and Doyle Hardware. Bob was a member of Historic Old St. John's Church and the New Hartford American Legion Post #1376. He and his wife Barbara loved the Adirondacks and were summer residents over 35 years.
Surviving are his special canine companion, "Kix"; his children, Donna Williams and her husband, Frank, Utica, Mary Holt, Old Forge, Robert J. Holt and his wife, Marie, New Hampshire, and James Holt and his wife, Chris, Inlet; nine grandchildren, Lisa Rodimak, Robert M. Holt, Megan Holt, Kyle Williams, Kristin Williams, Ryan Williams, Kimberly Devins, Courtney Holt and Lauren Holt; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Reardon, Jessica Reardon, Kristofer Williams, Tyler Williams, Bianca Devins, Olivia Devins; one sister, Betty Phiffenberger, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mary Holt, New Hartford; and several special nieces and nephews. Bob also leaves special friends, Bob and Carol Zane, Utica.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services for Robert on Friday at 9:00 a.m. from Surridge & Roberts Funeral Homes, 470 French Rd., Utica, and 10:00 a.m. from Historic Old St. John's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Buehler. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Members of the New Hartford American Legion will conduct ritualistic services. Paul Eugene McGuire, 81, 538 Kake Ave., Clermont, died Sunday. Born in Little Falls, N.Y., he moved to Clermont seven years ago from Gloversville, N.Y.

He was a retired mechanical engineer and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clermont.

Survivors: wife, Mrs. Frances W.; daughters, Mrs. Pauline Restante, Little Falls, Mrs. Emily Mitchewll, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.; sons, Lyman, Schenectady, N.Y., Eugene, Dearborn, Mich., 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Esther I. Peyton, 91, 61239-2 C.R. 21, Goshen, died of congestive heart failure Wednesday at 3:15 a.m. in the emergency room of Goshen General Hospital.

She was born in Norway, N.Y., Oct. 8, 1916, to Arthur W. and Lutie Rachel (Gould) Barker. She came to this area in 2001 from Lorraine, N.Y.

She was a homemaker and a nurse's aid at Herkimer Memorial Hospital in New York. She also worked at Borden's, New Port, N.Y., and Munger's Department Store, Herkimer, N.Y. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, ceramics, cooking, and especially baking pies.

She married Charles E. Thomas, Oct. 18, 1939, at Norway Baptist Church, Norway, N.Y. He died Feb. 4, 1949. At the home of Rev. Hutchinson, Bellville, N.Y., she married Albert W. Peyton Jr., Dec. 18, 1965. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are her daughter, Sharon (John S.) Flansburg, Goshen; son, Dale C. (Virginia) Thomas, Cleveland, Ga.; stepdaughter-in-law, Jane Peyton, Pulski, N.Y.; stepson, Gary Peyton, Arizona; stepdaughter, Becky (George) Spaziani, Black River, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Michael Candela, Joyce Candela, Lisa Candela, Deborah (James) Jacquays, Melissa Candela, Jeffrey (Beth) Thomas, John (Rebecca) Thomas, and Barbara Van Buren; 19 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and 9 stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Clausen; and a grandson, Jeffrey T. Candela, who died in 2007.

Betty Lutie Clausen, 82, of 4003 William Flynn Highway in Mercer Township died at 8:23 p.m. Friday at her home. Born in Norway, N.Y., Jan. 14, 1922, she was the daughter of Arthur and Lutie Rachel Gould Barker.
Her husband, Carl Martin Clausen Jr., whom she married June 8, 1946, died Nov. 9, 2000
Surviving are two sons, Carl M. "Corky" Clausen of Palm Bay, Fla., and James Arthur Clausen of Shorewood, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Lutie Clausen Weidenhof of Slippery Rock; and a sister, Esther Peyton of Goshen, Ind. Nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
CLAUSEN - Friends of Betty Lutie Clausen, who died Friday, March 26, 2004, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. T.D. Stewart, a retired Slippery Rock pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Harmony Cemetery, Harrisville.
