January 4, 2005PLANKEY, RUTH C., 90, of Zephyrhills, died Tuesday (Dec. 28, 2004) in the East Pasco Medical Center in Zephyrhills. Born in Easthampton, Mass., she came to Florida in 1957. She was a retired school teacher and principal. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, John E., Seminole; two daughters, Maxine Styers, North Port, and Mary Gilio, Lutz; a brother, Donald Pomeroy, Chesterfield, Mass.; four sisters, Marion Loomis, West Springfield, Mass., Lydia Racicot and Mary "Molly" LaFogg, both of Zephyrhills, and Frances Apodaca, Englewood, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

August 20, 2004WEST SPRINGFIELD - Gordon T. Loomis, 88, of Kent Street, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 19, 2004 at a local nursing home. Born in Springfield, he lived in West Springfield since 1938. He attended Mittineague United Methodist Church and was the supervisor of maintenance for twenty-two years for the Lestoil Company, retiring in 1980.
He leaves his wife, Marion T. (Pomeroy) Loomis, a daughter, Judith Ann Lapointe of Silver Springs, FL, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Susan Ruth Geary died in 1966.

April 16, 2009NORTH ADAMS Lydia J. Racicot, 90, of 150 Ashland St. died early Wednesday morning, April 15, 2009, at the North Adams Regional Hospital. Death followed a sudden illness.
Born in Easthampton on Dec. 31, 1918, daughter of Frank E. and Ruth Tyler Pomeroy, she graduated from the Smith Vocational School in Northampton.
Mrs.Racicot owned and operated the former Racicot's Ceramics Studio on Grove Street in Adams for many years, retiring in 1988. Prior to that, she worked for several years for the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. She was a member of the St. Mark's Episcopal Church Knit and Stitch Group in Adams, and was also member of the Charlemont Senior Center.
Her husband, Joseph A Racicot, whom she married Aug. 7, 1943, died Sept. 24,1998.
She leaves three daughters, Sylvia Lefebvre and her husband John, of Adams, Cynthia Smith and her husband, Henry, of North Adams, and Rosanna Kenney of Ocala, Fla.; three sisters, Marion Loomis of West Springfield, Frances Apadoca of Englewood, Calif., and Mary Lafogg of Easthampton; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Pomeroy, Frank E Pomeroy Jr., and by one sister, Ruth Plankey

September 28, 1998ADAMS Joseph Arthur Racicot, 89, of 11 Quaker St. died Thursday evening at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 19, 1909, son of Joseph and Roseanna Dubois Racicot, he came to Adams as a child and attended schools there. He moved to Charlemont in 1986 and returned to Adams in 1995.Mr. Racicot was employed by the former Cheshire Harbor Machine Co., now Bertmatics, as a machinist for 60 years. He retired in 1985. He was a member of the Charlemont Senior Center.
He leaves his wife, the former Lydia Pomeroy, whom he married Aug. 7, 1943; three daughters, Mrs. Roseanna Kenney of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Sylvia Lefebvre and Mrs. Cynthia Smith, both of Adams; four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

August 27, 2008NORTHAMPTON - Donald H. Pomeroy, 81, of South Street, died peacefully on Aug. 25 at Hampshire Care Facility in Leeds. Donald was born in Chesterfield March 23,1927, the son of the late Frank E. and Ruth (Tyler) Pomeroy. He was raised in Chesterfield and lived there for 77 years.
He was a farmer and logger, and in later years worked as a subcontractor for AT&T doing lawn maintenance. Donald was a 65-year member of Chesterfield Grange, a member of Hillside Pomona Grange, Massachusetts State Grange and The National Grange and was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Northampton.
Above all, Don was a family man. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the glue that held him together during his long illness. Don loved his garden and even as the arthritis progressed he could be seen using his crutch as a hoe.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Audrey (Filkins) Pomeroy; four daughters and their husbands: Jean and James Marra, of Chesterfield, Beverly Pomeroy and Daniel Kirouac, of Chesterfield, Lynn and Matthew Weingart, of East Hampstead, N.H., and Lisa and Michael Parker, of Cody, Wyo. He also leaves 11 grandchildren: Lynne Noel, Terri Marra, Kimberly and Rebecca Weingart, Hillary Wildman and Timothy Funk, Robert and David Parker, Steven and Jenny Kirouac and Melanie Krupa, six great-grandchildren: Emma, Ryan, Kyle, Henry, Molly and Joseph; four sisters: Marion Loomis, of West Springfield, Lydia Racicot, of North Adams, Frances Apodaca, of Inglewood, Calif., and Mary LaFogg, of Easthampton. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Mary Jane Bardwell, of Greenfield, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Ruth Plankey and his brother, Frank Pomeroy, Jr.

November 26, 1999Frank J.P. Grazio, 84, of 25 Athens St., died Wednesday at Baystate Medical Center. He was the co-owner of Grazio Brothers Heating & Air Conditioning. Born in New Bedford, he was a former member of the Elmcrest Country Club in East Longmeadow and the Wilbraham Country Club, where he was a club championship winner. He was a communicant of St. Paul's Church.
His first wife, the former Mildred "Billie" Torrey, died in 1978.
He leaves his second wife, the former Elizabeth Correa; two sons, Paul of Chicopee and Peter of Lady Lakes, Fla.; a stepson, Peter Garreffi of West Willington, Conn.; a sister, Delfina Grazio of West Springfield; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

June 4, 1997Richard K. Torrey, 73, of Shinnston, W.Va., and formerly of this town, died Sunday at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
He was a retired real estate agent and a longtime employee of S & S Paint & Wallpaper Co. of Springfield. He retired in 1994. Born in Springfield, he lived here for 40 years, and moved to West Virginia two years ago. He was a World War II Army veteran, and attended the First Baptist Church of Shinnston. He belonged to the American Legion Post and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3236 here, and the Ludlow Hockey Association. He coached youth hockey and baseball for many years.
He leaves his wife, Gwendolyn C. (Wyman) Torrey; two sons, Richard K. Jr. of Woodstock, Vt., and Ronald D. of Barnard, Vt.; a daughter, Sandra Longsworth of Otis; three stepsons, Greg Cowan and Stephen Cowan of Morgantown, and Michael Cowan of Cary, N.C.; three stepdaughters, Valarie Cowan of Silver Spring, Md., Donna Marcelo of Weaversville, N.C., and Kathy Moore of Holly, Mich.; three grandchildren; a great-grandson, and nine step-grandchildren. His first wife, the former Betty Cray, died in 1989.

November 26, 2005RUMNEY -- Marjorie A. Patterson, 94, formerly of School Street, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen.
She was born in Wilmot Flats on April 30, 1911, the daughter of Alden and Flora (Hall) Burt.
She was the oldest of six children and grew up in West Rumney. She graduated from Plymouth Normal School.She married John F. Patterson Sr. in 1931 and lived in Rumney most of her life. She was the best wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother that she could be. She loved giving and doing for family and friends whenever she could.She was an active member of Rumney Baptist Church for many years.
Mrs. Patterson was predeceased by her husband on Aug. 3, 1973. She was also predeceased by her sister, Arlene Cook of Fitchburg, Mass.; two brothers, Alden Burt of Derry and Lloyd Burt of Elliot, Maine; and two granddaughters, Marie Reed and Brianna Patterson.
Survivors include five sons, John F. Patterson Jr. and his wife, Dorothy, of Rumney, Dale E. Patterson and his wife, Judy, of Canterbury, Robert A. Patterson and his wife, Marilyn, of Plymouth; Allan Patterson and his wife, Gail, of Northfield, Vt.; and Morris N. Patterson and his wife, Barbara, of Thornton; one daughter, Carol Dusseault and her husband, Rene, of Concord; 14 grandchildren; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Evelyn Erickson of West Rumney and Pauline Johnson of Beaverton, Ore.

She was born in Park Rapids, Minn., and lived in Port St. Lucie for 26 years, coming from Michigan.

September 22, 2000Leo W. Thomas, 76, Devils Lake, formerly of Cando, N.D., died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, in Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Fargo.
Leo William Thomas was born July 19, 1924, the son of Clarence and Elnore (Fell) Thomas, in Hubbard County, Minn.
He grew up and attended school in Hansboro, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1944 to February 1946, during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He returned to Hansboro, where he worked as a mechanic.
He married Ila York on Sept. 1, 1949, in Hansboro. They lived in Hansboro until 1951, when they moved to Perth, N.D. He worked for Farmer's Union Oil Co. He worked in Cando from 1966 to 1990. They moved into Cando in 1980. They moved to Devils Lake in 1992, where he worked with the Green Thumb Program at Lake Region State College.
He is survived by his wife; sons, David (Caroline) and Steven, both of Fargo; a daughter, LeeAnn (Alfred) LaFrance, North Glen, Colo.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Darl (Darlene), Hansboro, and Dean (Sharon), Salem, Ore.; and sisters, Anna Sommerson and Betty Strutz, both of Gervais, Ore., and Lucille (William) Geib, Junction City, Ore.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Alfred and Earl.

She was born Feb. 24, 1929, in Hansboro, N.D., to Clarence and Eleanore Fell Thomas. She married William Geib on April 5, 1947, in St. John, N.D. He died previously. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Stewart of Shelton, Wash., and Helen Hughes of Eugene; a sister, Betty Strutz of Harrisburg; a brother, Dean Thomas of Salem; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A son, Micheal Geib, died previously.

Geib was born Jan. 22, 1920, in Rock Lake, N.D., to John and Alga Krogen Geib. He married Lucille Thomas on April 5, 1947, in St. John, N.D.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Asian theater during World War II. He worked as a heavy-equipment operator for Grosebeck & Durbin.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mary Stewart of Shelton, Wash., and Helen Hughes of Eugene; a sister, Vivian Lymburn of Hurdsfield, N.D.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A son, Michael Geib, died previously.

October 20, 2001Darl C. Thomas, 70, Rock Lake, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, in Trinity Medical Center, Minot.
Darl Clarence Thomas was born Jan. 23, 1931, the son of Clarence and Elnore (Fell) Thomas, in Rolla, N.D. He attended school in Hansboro, N.D. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned to N.D., where he worked for Peavey Elevator Co. in Hansboro and Loma, N.D. He married Darlene Johnson on Sept. 19, 1956, in Mylo, N.D. In 1965, they moved to Hansboro, where they farmed. In 1996, they moved to Rock Lake, where he farmed with his sons, Tim and Perry.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Jeff (Rhea), Bozeman, Mont., Tim (Janell), Rock Lake, and Perry (Barb), Calvin, N.D.; daughters, Cheryl (Mike Robert) Thomas, Rock Lake, and Diane (Kurt) Brorby, Crookston; 13 grandchildren; a brother, Dean (Sharon), Salem, Ore.; sisters, Lucille (William) Geib, Junction City, Ore., and Betty Strutz, Harrisburg, Ore.; and sisters-in-law, Millie Thomas, Harrisburg, Ore., and Ila Thomas, Fargo.
