April 20, 2006Walter R. "Peck" Waber, 97, of Great Falls, a retired Farmers Union Oil Co. employee and U.S. Navy veteran, died of natural causes Saturday in Deer Lodge, Mont., where he had recently moved due to deteriorating health to be closer to his family.
Survivors include his sister, Lucetta Anderson of Glendale, Ariz.; nephews Jules and Glenn Waber of Deer Lodge, Phil Waber of Wellsboro, Pa., Doug VanGuilder of Northfield, Minn., and Brad VanGuilder of Ann Arbor, Mich.; nieces Sharon Gunkel of Tulsa, Okla., and Marcia Woods of Salem, Ore.; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.
Peck was born on Aug. 28, 1908, the son of Rudolph and Florence Waber. He grew up in the Elysian, Minn. area, and graduated from Waterville High School in 1926.
He came to Great Falls in 1936 to visit his brother, at which time he began working for Farmers Union Oil Co. retiring from there in 1973. He also served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Betty is survived by four children, Judy L. Pitts, James D. (Colette) Haskell, James R. (Karen) Haskell and Sheryl L. Eckerman; eight grandchildren, Richard Lidel, Connie Lidel, April Ingram-Flemming, Allan Bowman, Christine Washington, Jeremy Haskell, Theresa Haskell and Jacob Eckerman; two step-grandchildren, Sandra Pillsbury and Charlie Byland; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Born in Marquette, Mich., Mr. Foubert died Sunday.
He graduated from Gonzaga University in 1939 and from the University of Washington in 1947.
He taught at the University of Washington and Gonzaga University. He also worked for Hollister-Stier Laboratories. Mr. Foubert later became director of regulatory affairs department at Hollister-Stier for 30 years.
He married Norma LeMieux in 1985 in Spokane.
Mr. Foubert was a member of St. Pascal Catholic Church, Central Lions Club, Society of American Bacteriologists, Alpha Sigma at the University of Seattle, Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Washington, and Alpha Sigma at Gonzaga University.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, John and Edward Foubert, both of Spokane; and two sisters, Lelia Westhauer and Norva Edmonds, both of Spokane.

April 30, 2012Eleanor Irene Yearick Haskell passed away at the Kearney Good Samaritan Hospital April 17, 2012 at the age of 99. Eleanor was born Sept. 5, 1912, at Pender, to George and Evelyn Gatzmeyer Yearick. Her early childhood was spent in eastern Nebraska.
Eleanor graduated from Burwell High School in 1931. After high school she received a teaching certificate and taught in rural schools in Brown County.
She was married to Jack D. Haskell May 31, 1939 at Long Pine. To this union five children were born: Willard, Karen, Joan, Shirley and Becky. Most of their married life was spent ranching in southern Brown County. They lived north of Brewster for two years before moving to Halsey in 1960. Eleanor lived in Halsey the last 52 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; infant daughter, Joan; and son-in-law, Roger "Jake" Jacobson.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Willard Haskell of Ainsworth; daughters, Karen Jacobson of Arnold, Shirley (Leroy) Johnson of Mason City, and Rebecca (Walter) Collier of Dunning; grandchildren, Jerry Jacobson and Jim (Stephanie) Jacobson of Arnold, Kathy Johnson and Troy Johnson of Mason City, Brandy Johnson of Elm Creek, Travis (Ann) Collier of Dunning, and Michelle (Paul) Sterkel of Rapid City, SD; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Cole and Haley Jacobson of Arnold, Kelsey Hawk of Mason City, Riele Lewis, Breanna and Payton Johnson of Elm Creek, and Colby and Carlie Collier of Dunning. CHADRON, NE | Funeral Services for Geraldine Elizabeth "Betty" Waltman of Chadron, Nebraska will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, Nebraska. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron, Nebraska.
On December 26, 2021 the Good Lord called our sweet Mother, Betty home to join Daddy.
Geraldine Elizabeth (Betty) (Haskell Waltman was born July 14, 1929 at the home ranch in Cherry County, Nebraska. She was the youngest of six children born to Charles and Florence (Westover) Haskell. Growing up on the ranch in Brown County as a teenager, she stacked hay with a team of horses. When she was in high school, she stayed with her sister-in-law in Chadron, Nebraska where she met the love of her life, Frank Elmer (Bus) Waltman. To that union four children were born: Kay Merrill, Riley (Dee) Waltman, Christie (Andy) Dickinson, and Delinda Royse.
As newlyweds they worked on ranches where Betty cooked for the ranch crews. When Bus went to work for the Forest Service, Betty taught at the rural Strand School, driving 40 miles each way on a country road. In 1965, Bus and Betty moved the family to Chadron. In Chadron, Betty went back to school and received her Bachelor of Library Science Degree and became the Head Librarian at the Chadron Public Library.
Betty was devoted to and loved Bus and her family unconditionally. Her favorite memoires were of going to Country Dances, playing cards with neighbors in the Sandhills, and going to rodeos with her children.
Betty is lovingly remembered and survived by children Kay, Riley, Christie, and Delinda. Grandchildren: Melanie (Boone) Herring, Sid Merrill, Razen (Kali) Merrill, Jace (Monica) Waltman, Jackie (Josh) Krejci, Jody (Kelly) Elverum, Trisha (Josh) Clevenger; seventeen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Bus, her parents, her in-laws, her five siblings, and their spouses, her son-in-law Larry Merrill, granddaughters Tiffany Royse, and Teran Dickinson, and Maggie Krejci.

May 21, 2014CHADRON, NEB. | Frank Elmer "Bus" Waltman, 89, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at the Chadron Hospital.
He was born Feb. 13, 1925, to Frank and Margaret Waltman in Chadron. Bus attended school in Chadron until he joined the military in April 1943. He flew 20 missions over Germany serving as a Top Turret Gunnery Sergeant on the Flying Fortress Jackson "Miss" with the Army Air Forces 447th Bombardment Squadron. He was honored and awarded membership into the "Lucky Bastard's Club" for successfully completing more than 20 missions and coming home safe. Bus received many medals and honors. He was very proud of his service to and for his country.
Bus met the love of his life, Betty Haskell in 1945 on his return from active duty. The "wild fly boy" and the "red-headed ranch girl" shared 67 years of marriage.
To this union were born four children: Kay (Larry) Merrill, Riley (Dee) Waltman, Christie Dickinson and Delinda Royse.
He was the proud and loving granddad of Melanie (Boone) Herring, Sid Merrill and RC (Kali) Merrill, Jace (Monica) Waltman, Jacque (Josh) Krejci, Jody (Kelly) Elverum, Jeran Dickinson, Trisha (Josh) Clevenger and Tiffany Royse.
His grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews treasured Grandpa Bus as much as he treasured them.
One of Bus's greatest legacies will be the thousands of hours he devoted to young people with whom he shared his talents, wisdom and ability to be a "man of his word" and someone who was a great role model. Bus led generations of 4-H Clubs, helped any young cowboy or cowgirl who needed it. Bus served on the Board of Directors for the National Little Britches Rodeo Association for many years.
He was a professional forest fire fighter who led and trained Hot Shot fire crews, fighting forest fires nationwide. He retired from the Forest Service and spent his remaining years enjoying family, friends and fishing.
Bus was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Margaret; in-laws, Charles and Florence Haskell; great-granddaughter Maggie, Krejci; three brothers; three brothers-in-law; and seven sisters-in-law.

January 11, 1998Mabel L. Haskell, 90, a former assistant postmaster at the Sandusky Post Office, died Friday (Jan. 9, 1998) in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.
The former Mabel L. Griffith was born in Boon, Mich. She was a member of the Freedom Home Bureau and the former Women's Christian Temperance Union and had been a chairwoman for the Red Cross drive for the Town of Freedom. Mrs. Haskell also had worked at the former Arcade Knitting Mill.
Surviving are two daughters, Marlene Williams of Phoenix and Myrna Morgan of Centerville; two brothers, Harry Griffith of Tucson, Ariz., and Loran Griffith of Margate, Fla.; three sisters, Laura Dickens of Henrietta and Lena Vedder and Maude Lee, both of Franklinville; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
