FlaVelle was a member of First United Methodist Church, Collinsville, Ill., since 1954. He was a member of the Masonic Order and the White Shrin

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Olive, nee Bates, Haskell; a sister, Laverne; and two brothers, Marvin and Elwyn.

Surviving are his wife, Nadine, nee Glaspey, Haskell of Glen Carbon, Ill.; two sons, Gary (Judy) Haskell of Orlando, Fla., and Duane (Carolyn) Haskell of Paris, Ill.; four grandchildren, Mark Haskell, Lisa Bulus, Robert and Eve Haskell; and five great-grandchildren, Kate and Jake Haskell, Andrew, Benjamin and Nicholas Bulus.

E. Nadine Glaspey Haskell, age 89, of Paris, formerly of Collinsville, died at 1:05 a.m., on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Paris Health Care Center in Paris.

She was born on Saturday, May 17, 1919, in Atchison, Kan., the daughter of the late Henry Burdick and Ella Leah Bonnel Glaspey. She married FlaVelle L. Haskell. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons: Gary, and wife Judy, Haskell of Orlando, Fla., and Duane, and wife Carolyn, Haskell of Paris; and a sister: Gretchen Ballew of Hot Springs Village, Ark. Along with her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by a brother: Claude Glaspey.

Nadine retired from the former P.N. Hirsch in Collinsville. She was Past Worthy High Priestess of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Betty Eileen Longo, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on July 19, 2004. She was 78 years old.

Born in Clayville, the daughter of Wesley and Paula Haskell, she grew up in Herkimer and graduated from Herkimer High School in 1944.

In 1947, she married her high school sweetheart, Joseph F. Longo Jr., upon his return from service in World War II.

In addition to raising their two children, Betty assisted her husband in his career, operating a home-based office and entertaining clients.

Betty enjoyed traveling and visited the West Coast frequently, as well as many cities throughout the United States with her husband. She had also visited England, Europe and Scandinavia.

In her free time, Betty loved to garden, cook, bowl and knit. She knitted baby blankets as gifts, not only for her friends, but also donated them to children in need.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church; the Worcester Women's Club, Worcester American Legion Post 1584, and was on the board of the Worcester Free Library.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joseph F. Longo Jr.; her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, Marc, Linda and Marcel Longo of Milford; and by her daughter, son-in-law and grandson, Michele, Bob and Dylan Eder of Newport, Ore.

She was predeceased by her grandson, Ben Eder, in 2001.

She was born in Utica, daughter of Edward and Ella Fox Burke . She attended Utica schools and was graduated from Utica Free Academy and Utica School of Commerce . She was married to Oliver Haskell in 1934 in Utica.. He died in 1962.

She moved to Comstock 23 years ago.

Before leaving Utica she was employed at the Utica State Hospital office and in 1959 was employed at Great Medows Correctional Institution.

She was a member of St. Anne's Church, Comstock and Sacred Heart Church, Utica.

She leaves a daughter Mrs. William (Sandra) Behan, Cambridge ; a son , James U.S.M.C. in Georgia, and a sister, Mrs. Arthur ( Helen) Games, Utica.

ANDREW D. BRADEN, 86, formerly of Cleveland, passed away March 30, 2003.

Survived by wife, Betty (nee Beiter); three children; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister.

Preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a Professor of Accounting for over 40 years at Case Western Reserve and also served as Assistant Dean of the Business School. The University conferred a full professorship upon him and established an endowment fund in his name.

Frederick D. Schultze, 81, died Feb. 21 at Reche Canyon Convalescent Center in Colton. No services are planned. Inland Memorial in Colton is handling arrangements.
Mr. Schultze, who was born in Tipton, Ind., lived in Grand Terrace 35 years. He was a contracting officer for the U.S. Air Force for more than 20 years before he retired.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Schultze was a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside.
He is survived by a daughter, Terri Wiley of Sky Forest; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was a former member of Sharon County Club & Audubon Society, an avid gardner. Her husband, John Spenzer, former owner of Spenzer Container Co-Transfer died 27 Jul 1973.

Surviving are 2 daughters: Ms. Cheryl Spenzer - with whom she made her home; & Pam (Mrs. Ned Myers) - Chattanooga, TN; 2 sisters: Mrs. Myrtle Forbes - Albion; & Mrs. Leda Schultz - Cleveland; 2 brothers: Cecil Mullen - W. Springfield; & Lee Mullen - Scottsdale,  AZ; & 3 grandchildren.

HOWARD K WEST: 72; Conneaut former long-time resident of W. Springfield, PA died Saturday [2-3] at Rouse Home-Youngsville, PA. Mr. West & his wife, the former Marie Mullen moved from their W. Springfield home when Mr. West entered the nursing home.

Born in Wickliffe 8 Apr 1906, son of the late Charles & Mary Dempsey West, he was a former employee of Union Iron Works - Erie & retired in 1968 because of ill health after 18yrs of service. Mr. West was a member of W. Springfield United Methodist Church & served as a staff sergeant in the US Army during WWII.

He is survived by his wife whom he married 7 May 1927 in Jefferson; 3 sons: Charles - Conn-eaut; John C. - NYC; Richard D, - Youngsville; 8 grandchildren & 2 gr grandchildren. Several distant relatives also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.

World War II: Howard Kenneth West was a Staff Sergeant, serving as a Forward Observer for the 105mm Howitzer artillery unit in the 69th Infantry Division, which crossed the Rhine and met up with the Russians. He was wounded in action and awarded the Bronze Star.
The shoulder sleeve insignia of the 69th Infantry Division (which we still have in the family) was actually worn by Sergeant Bilko and his men in The Phil Silvers Show (information from Wikipedia on the US 69th Infantry Division)

She retired from the Astatic Corp. in Conneaut after 37 years. She graduated from West Springfield High School. She was an active member of the West Springfield United Methodist Church, where she was a member & past president of the Naomi Circle. She enjoyed gardening, traveling in England, Scotland, Wales & taking bus trips to Canada. She also enjoyed cooking & baking for social & church functions, making Easter candy & quilting.

She was preceded in death by her husband - Hallie R. Mullen, whom she married 25 Jun 1935 & who died in 1980; a granddaughter - Sharon Hagerty; 9 bros & 2 sisters. Survivors include a dau: Barbara J Tousey - E. Springfield; 8 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren & 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Margaret Mullen, whom he married on 19 Jan 1962; 2 sons: Wayne Mullen - Highland, CA; & Robert Marshall - Ashtabula; 3 daughters: Linda Dietz - Aurora, CO; Gail Mathews - MonroeTwp; & Paula Loyer W. She was born 23 May 1913 in West Springfield, a dau of the late Joseph & Michaelina Fiello Vacco. She lived with her daughter in Erie for the past 10 years. She was a licensed practical nurse & worked for 15 years at Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut & for several years at Pleasant Ridge Manor. She enjoyed cooking, baking & needlework.

She was preceded in death by her first husband - Robert Marshall; her second husband - Cecil Mullen & 12 brothers & sisters.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Paula J. Loyer - Erie & Gail Mathews of Monroe Township; a son, Robert Marshall of Akron, Ohio; 6 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Joseph Cemetery. The Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, is handling arrangements.

KINGSVILLE �  Myrtle J. Forbes-Rocco, age 97, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.

Born in Andover, Ohio, on Sept. 17, 1915, the daughter of the late Clark and Mae (Irons) Mullen. She graduated from Rowe High School, and later married James Forbes.

Myrtle lived in Albion, Pa. for many years where she was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. At the church, she served as chairman of the flower committee, and worked as the head cook for the daycare center. She was also a member of the Order of the Easter Star Chapter 22, and the women of the Moose. Myrtle also worked as head cook at Camp Sherwin in Lake City, Pa. She was involved in girl scouting, and was an avid bowler and golfer, playing in many leagues in Albion, Pa. and Conneaut, Ohio.

She is survived by her loving children, Connie (Bill) Cooper of Monroe Township, Ohio and William (Charlene) Forbes of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; her grandchildren, Heather (Mark) Kubasak, Spenzer (Charlie) Forbes and David (Stacy) Forbes; and seven great-grandchildren, Attie, Lainy, Annika, Jack, Emma and Katie Forbes, and Chase Kubasak.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, James Forbes and John Rocco; and granddaughter, Anna Kay Forbes.
