Mrs. Usherwood was born March 19, 1909, in Newbern, Tenn., to Benjamin Fletcher Smith and Willie Birdie Michael Smith. She married Wade Crawford Edmundson on Oct. 16, 1927. She married Benjamin Oliver Haskell on June 1, 1947. She married Noble Kenneth Usherwood on March 9, 1959. All three preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tampa, Fla.
Survivors include two sons, Virtus Glenn Edmundson of Hopkins, S.C., and Benjamin Oliver Haskell of Centralia; a daughter, Rebecca Lois Bennett of Holt, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Lois Haskell; four half-brothers; one half-sister; and a grandson.

January 18, 1937Mrs. Lee B. Haskell, member of a family quite prominent in an earlier period of the city's history, died at the hospital at 10:30 o'clock Saturday night after a brief illness which developed suddenly shortly after midnight Saturday. A stomach ailment and bowel obstruction exacted the life of the lovely lady, who, with Mr. Haskell, returned here in 1930 to spend her declining years after living in Chicago for thirty-one years. Mrs. Haskell was removed to the hospital about four o'clock Saturday afternoon after she had failed to respond to treatment. She was in such a weakened condition that it was readily apparent that an opertion (sp) would be instantly fatal, which left the matter of her recovery entirely dependant up on medicine and stimulants. However, that course proved ineffectual and she continued in rapid decline until death came to close her beautiful life. The deceased had not been in the best of health for eleven years following an automobile accident in Chicago in which she suffered greatly from shock and a blood clot which partially paralyzed her. She was abe (sp) to be up and and active to some extent until the sudden illness which resulted in her death.
Mrs. Haskell was born in Wheeler , Indiana on December 21, 1864, a daughter of George and Jennie Wliley Sigler. When she was eight years of age she moved to Rensselaer with her parents, and this city remained her home for the next ten years. Her father will be recalled by many of our older residents as the junior member of the firm of Willey & Sigler, who were engaged in the operation of a mercantile establishment. When she was 18 years of age the family moved to Mr. Ayr., where Mr. Sigler was engaged in business and where he and Mrs. Sigler passed away at ripe ages.
On March 31, 1889, she was united in marriage with Lee B. Haskell, an enterprising young man of the Mr. Ayr community and son of Mr. and Mrs. G.K. Haskell. The young couple continued to live near Mr. Ayr until 1899, at which time Mr. Haskell took employment as a mail clerk in the Chicago office, a position from which he retired in 1930.
To the above marriage was born one son, Leon, who lives in Chicago. Besides her husband and son, Mrs. Haskell is survived by a grandson, a brother, J.A. Sigler, Mr. Ayr banker and a sister, Mrs. Jean Adams of Chicago.
Mrs. Haskell was a member of the Methodist church to which demonination she always gave most loyal support. She was extremely active in church work until failing health prevented kept her more or less confined to her home. She was a lady of beautiful character whose life was dedicated to the welfare of those about her. She lived quietly and simply. She was deeply devoted to her family, friends and church. The death of this estimable lady brings deep sorrow to all.
The remains were taken to the W.J. Wright Chapel until the time of the funeral, whcih will be at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist church with the Rev. William Bleam in charge. Interment will be made at Weston cemetery.

Buthene Haskell, 94, of Rensselaer, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at her residence.She was born April 1, 1916 in North Manchester to the late Guy and Georgia Hollowell Sharp of Huntington. On Oct. 2, 1943, she married Kneeland Gwin Haskell of Rensselaer in Walkerton, and he died on Oct. 8, 1966. She was also preceded in death by a son, Ned Haskell.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Neal H. Haskell (wife: Jane) of Rensselaer; a sister, Ellen Satchwill of Mesa, Arizona; 4 grandchildren, Christine Haskell and Joel Haskell (wife: Jennifer), both of Rensselaer, Shaden Haskell of Lebanon and Lindsey Haskell of Indianapolis; a great-granddaughter, Savannah of Rensselaer and a nephew, Greg Satchwill of Mesa.

Leo E. "Pete" Miller, 96, a former resident of Coesse, died Monday morning, Nov. 15, 2004 at Oakridge Nursing Home in Plattsburg, Mo., where he had been a resident for the past year and a half.Born on Sept. 15, 1908 in Silver Lake, a son of Alex and Mary M. (Haskel) Miller, he began his grade school education at Larwill School. At the age of seven his family moved to Coesse and he graduated from Coesse High School in 1926.
On Aug. 8, 1931 he was united in marriage to Loretta Fay Palmer and they made their home in Coesse. In 1992 they established their home in Lathrop, Mo., near their daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Gene Ward. Mrs. Miller died July 15, 1992.
He was a member of Coesse United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son-in-law, Gene Ward of Lathrop, Mo.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta Ward; three sisters and a brother.
A graveside service is at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Union Township Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Columbia City.

October 10, 2006Richard Warren Crane passed away peacefully on September 17, 2006, shortly after having a stroke. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; Irene; their 5 sons - Dave, Tom, Bob, Mike, and Steve; their spouses - Janet, Debbie, Sue, and Cathy; step-son John Paul; 4 grandchildren - Lindsy, Ryan, Stacy, and Abbey; and 3 great-grandsons - Nathan, Sirin, and Auden (who arrived just 2 days after his death).
Warren was born in Terre Haute, IN, on May 19, 1921 to Elsie and Stephen Crane. They and their 5 children moved to San Francisco in 1930.
Warren enjoyed summers in Ferndale where he spent most of his time fishing and swimming on the Eel River. After he completed school at Galileo High School, World War II took him to Attu in the Aleutian Islands. Upon returning he met Irene, and within 3 months they wed. They raised their family in the San Francisco Bay Area where he worked as a Real Estate Appraiser for 30 years. In 1979 they moved to Humboldt County.
Warren will be remembered for his devotion to his wife and family, love of fishing, cribbage, gardening, harmonica playing, for his sense of humor, activity in the Kiwanis, and his joy in a good wood fire. He loved singing in the Ferndale Community Choir and with The Chameleons. He was a master crossword puzzler and often stumped even the most learned persons with his "arbitrary vocabulary". Thanks for being a great Dad and Husband. You will also be missed by your many friends.
