September 3, 2005Kenneth W. Christman, 81, of Keesler Corners Road, Fort Plain, and formerly of Newport, died on September 1, 2005 at his residence.
Mr. Christman was born in Middleville on August 13, 1924, a son of the late Charles and Una (Ferguson) Christman.
He received his education in local schools and was inducted in the U.S. Army in 1943. Ken received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during WWII service in the European Theater and was honorably discharged in 1946. In 1947, he was united in marriage with the former Helen Knowlton, who died in 1971.
For 31 years Ken worked at the former Borden Company in Newport and was employed for a few years at Enjems Carpets. He retired from MDS, where he had last worked at their plant in Newport. In 1979, he married Helena (Haskell) Miller and assisted and her in the operation of Miller's Restaurant in Cold Brook until 1986.
Helena passed away in 1990. Kenneth was also predeceased by his third wife, Grace (Palmer) Muller in 2002, with whom he was married for ten year
Mr. Christman was a member and past-commander of West Canada Valley Post #1524 American Legion, Newport, and a member of the D.A.V. He was also a member of the Deerfield Fish and Game Club. Ken was a former volunteer fireman in Newport and a former member of the Herkimer County Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his daughter, Debra Kelly, with whom he had resided with in Fort Plain for the last two years; a son, William Christman of Utica; three grandchildren, Brian Kelly of the Town of Ohio, Brenda Kelly of Fort Plain and Jennifer Kelly of Canajoharie; three sisters-in-law; and several step-children, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Louis, James, and Alexander Christman.

September 6, 2007Charles �Chuck� W. Hegeman September 1, 2007 HINCKLEY � Charles "Chuck" W. Hegeman, age 66, of Hinckley, passed away September 1, 2007, at Faxton-St Luke�s Healthcare Center, with his loving family at his side.
He was born January 19, 1941, in Prospect, a son of Warren and Elnora Brown Hegeman, and educated in Holland Patent schools. Chuck was united in marriage to the former Barbara Loucks Coleman, on June 9, 1962, in Floyd, NY. He was a machinist at Waterburys in Oriskany, until 1986, then operated Hegemans General Store in Hinckley from 1986 to 1996 and later worked at Northeaster Non Woven in Utica from 1996 to 2006.
Chuck was a loving and caring Husband, Father and Grandfather, who enjoyed his many camping trips on Hinckley Lake. He was an avid NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed cheering for the Earnhardt Racing Team
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Ben Poczatek of Prospect; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Sue Coleman of Prospect; a sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor "Dolly" and Vince Jordan of Marion, MD; two brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Connie Hageman of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Mike and Beatrice Hegeman of Remsen; grandchildren, Keri Burke and her husband, Kevin of Whitesboro, Christopher Poczatek and Amanda Poczatek of Prospect, Scott Coleman and his wife, Kathy of Prospect, Jesse Coleman of Holland Patent, Stephanie Coleman and Shanon Pope, both of PA; great grandchildren, Kasey, Victoria, Elijah, Brayden and Gregory; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Cheryl Sexton of Floyd, James and Judy Sexton of Camden, Gary and Jelinda Sexton of Mahomet, IL, Richard and Pearl Loucks of Rome, and Hugh Westcott of Floyd; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m.

Poland�Charles L. Forbes Jr., 27, of Poland RD 1, was found, dead yesterday morning by his parents in the rear of their home.
After an investigation by State Police and Coroner Gilbert Upright, Little Falls, the coroner gave a decision of suicide by self-inflicted bullet wound. Investigator Robert Charland, BCI, East Herkimer, said a note was found near the body Charland said that Forbes reportedly had been despondent.
Mr. Forbes was born in the Town of Norway, son of Charles and Georgiana Brown Forbes. A veteran of the Air Force, he was employed by the Square Stamping Co, Barneveld. He attended the Cold Brook Methodist Church.
Besides his wife, the former Mary Harsh, he leaves his parents, a son, Randy; four sisters, Mrs. Robert Stewart, Newport; Mrs. Kenneth Rotash, Town of Ohio; Diana and Sandra Forbes, Poland, and a brother, Truman, Poland.

Town of Salisbury � Truman R. Forbes, 61, of State Route 29, Little Falls, died on January 2, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Forbes was born on July 20, 1947 in Utica, a son of late Charles and Georgianna (Brown) Forbes. He graduated from Poland Central School and started his employment at Remington Arms, Ilion, shortly after. On August 23, 1974, Truman was united in marriage with the former Joan M. Getman at the Community Baptist Church in Poland. Currently employed at Remington Arms, he was a dedicated employee having worked in various departments for over 40 years. Truman served as a little league coach in Poland in his earlier years and was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors besides his wife of 35 years, Joan, include five daughters, Patricia Moore and her husband, Kevin of Dolgeville, Vicki Herringshaw of Salisbury, Melissa Lewis and her husband, Mike of Stratford, Suzanne Commins and her companion, John of Middleville and Sandra Keeler and her husband, Philip of Dolgeville; four sisters, Elizabeth Stewart of Newport, Joyce Rotach and her husband, Kenneth of North Lawrence, Sandra Ludwig and her husband, Charles of Frankfort and Diana Schaffer and her companion, Dean Borden of Cold Brook; his step-mother, Dorothy (Mykel) Forbes of Deerfield; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Larry.

November 4, 2017WARRENSBURG � Roland "Ron" Haskell, 71, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 3, 2017 at his home, surrounded by family.
Born Aug. 25, 1946 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Haskell.
Ron proudly served his country for three years in the Army with the 187th Infantry with the 101st Airborne Division. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed for 35 years with the New York State Department of Transportation and retired after 40 years of service.
He went on to work for Clemente Latham Concrete, Jeremy & Owen Dingman Enterprises and rose to the position of vice president in John Baker's Trucking Company.
He was a past member of the Warrensburg Fire Company and Warrensburg Emergency Squad.
His greatest enjoyment was golf and being a member at Cronin's Golf Resort for 40 years and socializing with his friends.
He is survived by his three daughters, Robin Haskell of Evansville, Indiana, Susan Franck and her husband, David, of Murrieta, California, and Angela Cancemi and her husband, Anthony, of Kings Park, Long Island; his siblings, John Haskell and his wife, Kathy, of Athol, and Sharon Himelrick and her husband, Claude, of Gansevoort; as well as five grandchildren. He also was blessed with goddaughter Logan Hayes and her two children; and a great many special friends, Jack Sweet, Tom Drain, John Baker, Roger Combs and Donna DeLoria, who surrounded him throughout his last days.
Ron's life was full and well lived and he will be missed by all.
