Alameda, June 9 - Mrs. Frances Bestow Hanley, wife of charles C. Hanley, and daughter-in-law of Catain J. S. Hanley, fied last night at her home, 1403 San Antonio avenue, following a lingering attack of heart trouble from which she suffered for two months. For two days preceding her death Mrs. Hanley was in an unconscious condition and no hope of recovery was held out.
Mrs. Hanley was born in Brooklyn, later moving as a child to Ohio. She came to this city 16 years ago and a year later became the bride of Hanley. She is sur- [... one line missing in printed copy] Olive, Louise and Charlotte.

Herman C. Schlichting August 19, 1908 to July 5, 2001. Born in San Francisco, Herm grew up surrounded by the love of his large extended family.
In 1947 he married the love of his life Charlotte Hanley Lewis, and they opened a furniture store, Hall's of Alameda, so they would be together everyday. Over 35 successful years "Hall's" became a local landmark, and they became great friends with many of their customers as they decorated hundred's of local homes.
Herm was a long time member of Kiwana's Club and ALameda Business Assoc. He is survived by his 2 sons, Mark Schlichting and Thomas Lewis, 5 grandsons, 3 great grandsons, and sister Elsie Marcussen.
His tireless attention to family, "doing what's right", and great sense of humor are just a few of the sweet gifts he left with us. Dad, we'll love you always.

May 21, 1914Mrs. E. J. Matchett is dead. She passed to her reward Sunday morning, May 17th, 1914 surrounded by her children, her husband being out of town. All that loving hands could do for her was done but the angel of Death had prepared a place for her in heaven and she left this life for a better one, where cares or worries are never known.
She was a victim of dropsy but never complained, always bearing her burden without complaint for the sake of her loved ones. She was a good neighbor always ready and willing to do all in her power to make life pleasant for the unfortunate, doing things that has caused her much suffering that she might make a life more pleasant and cheerful.
On September 16, 1888 she became the wife of Edward J. Matchett, and to this union five children were born, Esther Bestow, Mamie Elizabeth, William Henry, Ruth Matilda and Edward J. Jr., all at home, who with a sorrowing father are left to mourn her death.
Augusta F. Hine was born in Coalville (sic) Ohio, Sept. 16th, 1864 and died May 17th, 1914 at the age 49 years 8 months and 1 day. Came to Osseo with her parents and spent her childhood days after which she returned to Ohio, where she remained three years, then returning to Osseo in the fall of 1887.
She leaves behind her family a father, R.C. Hine of Miranda, S.D.; three brothers C.R. Hine of Sacramento, E Hine of Cadott, Wis., H.L.Hine of St. Paul, Minn,; and one sister, Estella Hine of San Francisco, Cal., to mourn her death.

Gladys Viola Matchett of Douglas, Ariz., died Wednesday Oct. 21, 1992 at Southeast Arizona Medical Center. Mrs. Matchett was born in Hale, Wis., on Dec. 27, 1905 a daughter of Anders and Emelia Johnson.
She married Edward J. Matchett in 1938 in Osseo.
He preceded her in death in October 1983.
Mrs. Matchett earned her college degree at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She retired from teaching school in 1971 after teaching English for over 20 years mist recently at Woodworth Junior High School, Fond du Lac.
Survivors include a son, Edward William Matchett and his wife Jayne, if Bisbee, Ariz., a granddaughter Caroline Matchett and grandsons Edward and William Matchett

April 2, 1951Mrs. George J. (Blanche C. Derry) Wetherholt, 86, died at 11:10 p. m. Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bess Wetherholt, 433 Fourth Ave.
Gallipolis Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star was organized in her home, and she was a charter member of it. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was also a charter member of the women's auxiliary to Lafayette Post 27, American Legion.
Mrs. Wetherholt was born Aug. 20, 1864, in Wilkesville to George L. and Mary Curtis Derry. She married Mr. Wetherholt March 11, 1885, at Wilkesville. He died Dec. 3, 1933.
Her husband organized the Wetherholt Funeral Home, now operated by her son, Frank E. Wetherholt, on First Ave.
Decedent is survived by two other sons, and another daughter, Mrs. John T. Hubbard, East Orange, N. J.; Lt. Col. John Paul Wetherholt, with the 24th Division in Korea (his family lives in Japan; and G. Derry Wetherholt, Chillicothe. Decedent had eight grand-children and one great-grandchild. A stepdaughter, Mrs. Donna W. Kent, Columbus, also survives.

May 2, 1963George Derry Wetherholt, 68, a native of Gallipolis, died in Chillicothe General Hospital on Wednesday night. He had been in ill health for six months, and had undergone surgery.
He had been a resident of Chillicothe for 22 years, where he was an employee of the engineering division office of the Ohio State Highway Department. He was a graduate of Greenbrier Military Academy, and served in World War I as a First Lieutenant. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, and the American Legion.
He was a son of the late George J. and Blanche Derry Wetherholt and was born Aug. 10, 1894. His marriage was to the former Beatrice Staten, who survives along with one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Grace Derry) Freeman of Bellefontaine. Other survivors are two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Price (Bess) Mullineaux of Clark Lake, Mich., Mrs. John (Mary) Hubbart of Fort Pierce, Fla., John P. Wetherholt of Stellacoom, Wash., and Frank E. Wetherholt of Gallipolis.

May 25, 1978Frank E. Wetherholt, 79, a resident of 420 First Ave., Gallipolis, died in Holzer Medical Center at 6:10 a.m. Thursday. A retired funeral director, Mr. Wetherholt was born March 20, 1899, in Gallipolis, son of the late George J. and Blanche Derry Wetherholt.
He graduated from Gallia Academy High School and attended both Ohio University and Ohio State University. Mr. Wetherholt was a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He served the area as a licensed funeral director and embalmer from 1922 until the time of his retirement in 1963.
He married Frances Clark in 1923. She survives, along with one son, Frank Clark, Marietta; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Julia Ann) Smeltzer, Worthington.
Mr. Wetherholt was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Gallipolis Rotary Club.

November 9, 1999LAKELAND -- Mrs. Annie Louise Wiggins Rowley of Lakeland died Monday (Nov. 8, 1999) at Arbor at Lakeland. She was 95.
Born in Lawtey on March 22, 1904, she came to Lakeland from Jacksonville 30 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Calvery Temple Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert S. Rowley.
She is survived by her daughters, Frances Ferrell and Marjorie Shepherd, both of Lakeland; son, David G. Rowley, Ocala; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
