William L. Haskell, 48, a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and a former biology professor at the University of Nevada, died Saturday in his home at 644 Pyramid Way in Sparks.

Haskell resided in Sparks for the last five years. He was transferred from the biology department at Nevada Souther University to the Reno campus as an instructor ib biological science.

Haskell was a native of Redlands, Calif.

He was a graduate of Oregon Stare College. After completing his military career, he dis graduate work at Stanford University and at Arizona State University.

Haskell was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, Phi Kappa Phi honor society, the U. of N. chapter of Phi Sigma Biological Society, the American and Canadaian Fsjeres societies, and he was president of the local Wildlfe Society.

During World War II and the Korean War, he was a lieutenant in the U. S. Navy. He was medically discharged from the Navy after an airplane crash.

He is survived by his widow, Mildred; two daughters, Tora and Joan, both of Sparks; his mother, Mrs. Jessie M. Haskell of La Jolla, Calif.; and a sister Mrs. Harry Crosby, also of LA Jolla.

Catharine Haskell McKenney, 83, of Coronado died May 29. She was born in Northfield, Minn., and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Coronado Playhouse and Delta Gamma.

Survivors include her daughters, Paige Analora Johns of La Jolla and Catharine Anne Friddle of Coronado; son, Robert Wood McKenney of New Mexico; and two grandchildren.

HASKELL Juanita "Nita" C. Haskell, 83, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2007. She was born in Lake City, Florida on March 17, 1924 to Mr. Roy David Criswell and Mrs. Onie Stewart Criswell.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Adair Haskell, and is survived by her loving sister and brother, Joyce Loper (Dave) and Winton "Wink" Criswell (Jackie); 2 sons, Dan Haskell (Adrienne) and Doug Haskell (Cathy); 2 daughters, Debbie Haskell and Deana Haskell; 4 granddaughters, Jennifer Anderson (Brad), Alisa Ruenes (Frank), Amy Haskell and Meredith Feeney (Andy); 3 great-grandchildren; many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of loving friends.

Mrs. Haskell was a member of Avondale Baptist Church for 58 years and most recently a member of Lake Shore Baptist. She was employed and retired from Ruth N. Upson Elementary School of Jacksonville, FL after 16 years as their secretary. She was awarded with her years of service with a Life Time Member award with the PTA of Ruth N. Upson Elementary.
