Margaret Elizabeth Cartwright

Margaret Elizabeth Bryan, 92, passed away in Salt Lake City on September 30, 2003.

She was born August 25, 1911 in Nephi, Utah, to William Isaac and Mary Jane Bridgewood Cartwright. Married Max A. Bryan, May 21, 1928, later solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona Temple.

Margaret and her husband resided in Long Beach, CA for 45 years, where they reared their four children. They served LDS missions in the West European Mission and Nauvoo, Illinois. Returned to Salt Lake City where she served for 27 years in the Salt Lake Temple. She lived by the motto "Charity Never Faileth," and she spent her life in the service of others. She loved her family, the Lord, and serving in the temple.

Survived by her children: Maxine (Raymond) Howser, Richard (Kathy) Bryan, Mary Ann (Joseph) Smith and Connie (Delmar) Norton; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband and one grandson.

Curtis Sorensen, 93, of Goshen, died June 12, 2003 in Payson.

He was born January 10, 1910 in Mammoth, Utah to Oluff and Elizabeth Mordue Sorensen. He married DeVar Bryan, who preceded him death.

Curtis raised cattle and farmed in Goshen and Genola.

He retired from the State Road Department. He was an active member of the LDS Church; he loved to hunt and especially loved the little kids.

He is survived by his children: Sally Long, Goshen; Tom (Jerelyn) Sorensen, Payson; Patricia (Jay) Reif, Lynwood, Washington; Chris (Olga) Sorensen, Provo; 25 grandchildren, 34 great- grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years; his oldest daughter, Joan Wahlburg; nine brothers and sisters, parents, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.

Payson - Mark L. Bryan, 51, died at the family home, 116 E. 100 S., Payson, Monday evening of a heart attack.

He was born April 6, 1919, at Benjamin, a son of Rock and Sarah Hansen Bryan. He married LaVern Faxman, Jan. 10, 1939, in Provo.

He was a veteran of World War II, in the Navy. He was a member and former commander of the American Legion, Post 48. He was a construction worker. He was a member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include his widow, Payson; sons, daughters, John Bryan, Brent Bryan, Ricky Bryan, Sherry Bryan, Payson, Rex Bryan, Minneapolis, Minn.; 7 grandchildren; brother, sister, Max Bryan, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Curtis (DeVar) Sorenson, Goshen.

Born June 17, 1918 to Lester and Alpha Sorenson Cannon in Mammoth, Utah. She married James Ralph Cannon; he preceded her in death.

She retired from the D&RGW Railraod after having worked there 30 years as a clerk.

Survived by a son, Gary R. Cannon, Salt Lake City; two grandchildren; a brother, Blair Hansen, Sacramento, Calif.; and a sister Marjorie Kingsbury, Bountiful, Utah.

Clifford Edwin Selin

Clifford Edwin Selin, age 80, with his loving wife and family at his side, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 7, 2003 in Mesquite, Nevada.

He was born July 30, 1923 in Benjamin, Utah to Edwin Brigham Selin and Edna Mae Goss. On April 2nd 1942 he married Lois Hansen in the Salt Lake Temple.

After Lois' death in 1990, he married his sweet companion LaVon Taylor Selin in the Jordan River Temple on February 28, 1992.

Clifford grew up in Utah County. He served his country during World War II in the European Theater, and received the Purple Heart. He raised his family in the Salt Lake City area working as a chemical engineer. He had a great love for coin and stamp collecting. He shared his love of fishing and hunting with his children and grandchildren. He moved to the warmth and sunshine of Overton, Nevada in 1997. As an active member of the LDS Church, he served in the Las Vegas Temple. He showed courage and strength through his struggles and fought bravely to the end of his life.

Survivors include his second wife, La Von of Overton; children, Lynn (Mary), Bountiful, Utah; Marsha (Gary) Atkin, Salt Lake City; Carla (Kerry) Summers, Orem; stepchildren, Gordon (Robyn) Selin, Texas; Kathy (Jim) Moore, Salt Lake City; Donna (Dan) Ball, Salt Lake City; Lynette (Bruce) Gilchrist, Salt Lake City; Cynthia (LaVar) Smith, Salt Lake City; 27 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one brother Terry (Janet), New York.


Edward William Monk

Born in Palmyra, Utah, the oldest of six children of David William and Mary Ellenor Banks Monk, Edward William Monk, 88, completed his earthly life on Sunday, October 29 at his home in Mt. Pleasant, Utah surrounded by his family.

He married his Spanish Fork High School sweetheart Donna Clayson April 18, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on March 10, 1988.

Spending his youth on the farm with his father and brothers, Edward was employed at the Pages Equipment in Spanish Fork and in 1950 opened Central Utah Implement and Hardware on Main Street in Mt. Pleasant, selling and servicing John Deer equipment for twenty years.

Acting as Mt. Pleasant Postmaster for 21 years, Ed served with the Mt. Pleasant City Council, volunteer fire department, Lions Club, senior citizens and Boy Scouts.

His children, Marilyn Monk, Duane Edward (Edlin) Monk, David Leon (LoyAnn "Bobbe", twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, sister Preal (Lynn) Zufelt and brother Roy B. (Jolene) Monk survive him. Ed was predeceased by his parents, wife Donna, brothers Dean Charles, Banks, and Frank D. Monk.

Our loving mother and grandmother, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 9, 2010 in Payson, Utah. She was born on June 23, 1923 in Mammoth, Utah to Archer Edward and Mary Lavina Hansen Clayson. She grew up in Lake Shore, Utah and graduated from Spanish Fork High School.

June married her eternal companion, Thomas Earl Tuckett, on March 23, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. She spent her life serving her family and providing a loving home for them. This was her greatest accomplishment.

She was a very hard worker, patient, and was an example to all. She attended Hollywood Beauty School at age 40, and had a hair salon in her home. June loved to work in her yard and we know her heart will always be in Lake Shore. She was an accomplished professional softball player for 22 years and also loved sewing, fishing and spending time with her family. She was passionate about going to Wendover. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and learned to do extractions from home.

June is survived by her children, Marvin (Jane); Jana Rae Gardner; Shelley (Paul) Stoddard; her daughter in law Diane Tuckett; 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; and a sister, Ilene (Dean) Stone.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her son, Tommy; parents, two brothers, and three sisters; and a son-in-law, Larry Gardner.

Leon (Bud) Hansen Clayson, 66, died May 26, 1991, at his home in Lake Shore. He was born March 13, 1925 in Lake Shore, the son of Archer Eddwards and Mary Lavina Hansen Clayson. He married Grace Joan Wyler, Nov. 9, 1951, in Las Vegas, Nev.

He was a lifelong resident of Lake Shore, where as he worked in farming and livestock business with his father, an occupation he continued the rest of his life. He received his education in Lake Shore and Spanish Fork schools.

He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.

He was a member of The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was a member of Utah Farm Bureau. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Kake Shore; two sons and four daughters, Mrs. Paul (Linda) Rose, Kent W. Clayton, boty of Spanish Fork; Mrs. Floyd (Leona) Gardner, Payson; Mrs. Chris (Sandra) Weight, Bountiful; Glen Leon Clayson, Orem; Mrs. Ryan (Mary) Taylor; 18 grandchildren; one brother and three sisters.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, carol.

Early Life: Ilene was born in Lake Shore, Utah, on September 30, 1932, to Archer Edwards Clayson and Mary Lavina Hansen Clayson. She attended elementary school in Lake Shore, finishing her formal education at Spanish Fork High School.

Life's Work/Service/Interests: On Sept. 5, 1950, Ilene married Dean G. Stone in the Manti Utah LDS Temple. They have two sons and two daughters. In her adult years, she worked for Utah Sportswear and then JC Penney for 25 years. She enjoyed the associations she had with her co-workers at both places. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, swimming, boating and fishing. She especially enjoyed cook-outs with her family. Ilene Clayson Stone, of Spanish Fork, Utah, passed away early on the morning of April 26, 2014, in Provo, Utah, surrounded by her family. She was 81.

Survived By: Her husband, Dean; her sons: Rick Stone, of Colorado; Scott Stone, of Orem, Utah; her daughters: Vicki Stone, of Lehi, Utah; Tracy Stone, of Spanish Fork, Utah; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildre

He is survived by his six children: Bernard Phillip (Gale) Richardson, Patricia Lynn Richardson, Carol Ann (Dennis) Watt, Allen LaVern Richardson, Tracey Lee (Walter) Harms, Karen Jean (Lindsay) Murfin, also by fourteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers; Ralph and Carl Richardson and one sister May Cliffton.

He is predeceased by his wife Jeanette Jessie, his son Ernest William, his parents David Samuel and Ethel May White and five brothers, Ernest David, Calvin Dever, Clarence William, Melvin Roy, and Richard Parnel.

GLADYS EVELYN (FLEXHAUG) HAGUE passed away in Cardston, Alberta on August 16th at the age of 94.

Gladys is survived by her three children, Cynthia Allen of Rancho Mirage, California, Peter (Sheila) Hague of Cardston, Alberta, Philip Hague of Tooele, Utah, , 8 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind two brothers Vern (Jo) Flexhaug, Robert (Lavonne) Flexhaug, and a sister, Jean Lehr.

Gladys was preceded in death by her loving husband William Hague. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Lynda Flexhaug, Lenora Hoselton and three brothers Gordon, Leonard and Richard Flexhaug.

Gladys was born in Orion, Alberta on December 13, 1922. As a child she moved to Raymond, Alberta where she spent most of her youth and adult life. She attended Raymond High School until she eloped with the dashing Bill Hague who became her lifetime sweetheart.

During the Second World War she worked for the Raymond Sugar Factory and later at the Quality Market as a clerk. While raising her three children she worked at the Raymond Home as a care giver and she tenderly administered to the patients in her care. After working with the patients for 10 years she was promoted to an administrative position which lasted for 20 years until she retired.

Gladys loved to golf. Her greatest enjoyment was to hit the fairway with her husband Bill or a group of friends. She won many competitions and was thrilled to win a first at the Southern Alberta Summer games.

Gladys was blessed with many callings in the LDS Church but mostly loved the work she did at the Cardston Alberta Temple. She was a giver to her community and many people in need received her delicious buns and baked goods. She was a gregarious friendly lady who was loved by all who knew her.

Zuehlke - Passed away in the city on Fraday, October 31, following a lengthy illness, Mrs. Mable Adeline Zuehlke at the age of 50 years, beloved wife of Mr. George Zuehlke of 1625 St. Andrew Rd. Born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, the late Mrs. Zuehlke in 1943, she resided in Warner for over thirty years. She came to Lethbridge in 1973 where she had resided until her passing.

Besides her husband she is also survived by two sons, Mr. Ross Zuehlke of Carmangy, Mr. Armand Zuehlke of Lethbridge; two daughters, Mrs. B. (Corinne) Archibald of Taber, Mrs. M. (Garnette) Rombough of Coaldale; six grandchildren; fifty-two nieces and nephews; three sisters, Mrs. A. (Rose) Kittleson of Barons, Mrs. R. (Hazel) Mundy) and Mrs. M. LOLA FERN (STILL) FLEXHAUG passed away near Raymond, AB on Wednesday, May 16th 2018 at the age of  83 years.

Lola leaves to mourn her loving children Chris (Cathy) FLEXHAUG, Kim (Sandi) FLEXHAUG.  She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Jamie (Jordan), Jarrod, Jordan, Kelly (Tanya), Tara (Paul), Kaylea (Jay), Justin (Brook), Mitch (Celine), Amber (Ryan), Christie (Chris), Adam (Jamie), Kyle, Chad (Norma), Rischel (Winton), Joel (Vilayvanh), Cherity (Beau), Misty (Darren) and Ashley (Morgan) and 38 Great Grandchildren.

Lola was predeceased by her parents Jim and Alice STILL; brothers Jim, Elmo, LaVern and Dale; daughters Jennifer, Roxann and Joyce and the love of her life Alvin FLEXHAUG.

Lola was born on July 18th, 1934 at Raymond, Alberta to James Madill and Alice Martha STILL. She met Alvin in May of 1950 when her best friend Evelyn FLEXHAUG invited Alvin to come to Raymond.  Alvin and Lola were engaged on June 4th, 1951 and married on July 20th that same year.  Alvin was working for Canadian Pacific Railway and they moved to a number of small towns in southern Alberta while Alvin worked for the C.P.R.

Alvin and Lola moved from Etzikom to Pendant D'Orrielle late in 1957 where they lived with their 5 children who all graduated from Foremost High School.  After Lola's children graduated, Lola worked as a Teacher Assistant at the Roseday and Sunnyside Hutterite Colonies where she developed some life long friendships with all of those that she touched at the colonies. Alvin and Lola lived at Pendant D'Orrielle until Alvin retired in 1993.

Alvin and Lola lived a short period of time at a farmstead south of Foremost until 1995 when they moved to Raymond.  Alvin passed away in 2006 and Lola continued to live in Raymond with her granddaughter until her brother David STILL moved in with her in 2010 where they both lived until their passing.

Arnold Elonzo Haskell, 93, peacefully passed away March 24, 2009 at home in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He was born Oct. 14, 1915 in Payson, Utah to Henry Elonzo and Phenriatte Talbot Haskell.

He married Ida Harward Dec. 28, 1934, sealed in Salt Lake Temple Mar. 29, 1938.

They have three children: Wanda Naylor (deceased) Duane, Lynn E (Karen) Haskell, Jean Hammond (Gail deceased); 15 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

He was a devoted and active member of the LDS church, a temple worker and greatly loved by all. He was a farmer, trucker and rancher, being foreman of the Antelope Island Ranching Co.

He was a retired miner and also served as custodian of the Payson High School. He was also a mink rancher.

Payson - Leonard Paul Gasser, 54, died at Payson City Hospital Thursday following a lingering illness.

Mr. Gasser was born Feb. 22, 1905, in Payso,, and was the son of Paul and Elvira Haskell Gasser. He married Wilma Eliza Spencer in Provo on Sept. 15, 1929.

He held the position of Elder in the LDS Church. He received his education in Payspn City Schools. He was an avid sportsman and a fishing and hunting enthusiast and a carpenter by trade.

He is survived by his wife of Payson; one son, Don P. Gasser of Payson; two daughters, Mrs. Myrna Jean Butler, Spanish Fork, and Mrs. Alta Eileen Bowen, Redding, Calif.; three brothers, Albert Gasser, Wayne Gasser and Arthur Gasser, all of Payson; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Tweede, Salt Lake city, and Mrs. Emma McGuire, New Jersey; step-father, John D. She was born July 25, 1900, in Payson, a daughhter of Hyrum King abd Cynthia May Haskell Elmer. She married Francis G. (Frank) Wride, June 7, 1922, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She was educated in Payson schools, graduating from Payson High School.

She was an active member of The Church og Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, living in the Payson 14th Ward. She served as Relief Society president, on the stake Relief Society board. She was a teacher in Primary and M.I.A. She served as a temple worker at the Provo Temple for 10 1/2 yearsShe served as a missionary with her husband in the Southern States Mission.

She is survived by her husband, Payson; two sons and four daughters, Neldon F. Wride, Provo; Lynn T. Wride, West Mountain; Wanda Nielsen, Edmonds, Wash.; Afton Sheffield, Sunnyvale, calif.; Mrs. Dowell (Elaine) Schramm, Payson; Mrs. M. The family of Edna Pearl Elmer Gerber wishes to announce a rejoicing and celebration of her life. She died Thursday, January 9, 2003 in Orem, Utah of natural causes.

Edna was born to Hyrum King Elmer and Cynthia May Haskell on June 6, 1904 in Payson,

Utah. She is the third child of seven that were born in Grandma Haskell's home.

Edna's love of school was manifest in her sharp mind and quick intellect, especially when it came to playing games, working crossword puzzles, and putting jigsaw puzzles together. She always had a love of music and sang in many choruses throughout her life. Edna, along with her friends, would attend dances on Saturday nights, and it was at one of these dances that she met her future husband, Hugh Jacob Gerber. They fell in love and were married Sept. 19, 1923 in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Edna and Hugh had five children, four sons and a daughter: Elmer (LaRue), Wayne, deceased, (Donna), Marvin (Alene), Sterling (Laurel), Joyce (Bob) Frederickson; 76 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh, and her son, Wayne.

Edna was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many leadership positions in the church. She has spent her life serving her family with great love and compassion.

Magna - Zelma Elmer, 83, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1987, in a West Valley care center of causes incident to age.

She was born April 2, 1904 in Payson to John H. and Lydia Spencer Elmer. She married Robert E. Hales, June 27, 1923. He died June 24, 1956. She married Clarence LeRoy Elmer, Jan. 10, 1964. He died Dec. 23, 1976.

She served an LDS Mission in Georgia, 1961-63. She taught all church auxiliaries. She served as a counselor and president in the Relief Society. She was a singer and a temple worker.

Survivors include three children: Mrs. John (Bernice) Evans, Magna; Lynn Hales, Pleasanton, Calif.; Mrs. Dalre (Carma) Evans, Cedar City; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Dean Elmer, Payson; Mrs, Maxine Black, Orem.

He was born July 7, 1913 in Payson to Hyrum K. and Cynthia Haskell Elmer. He married Wilma Haycock Nov. 27, 1935 in Payson. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.

Ge was a member of the LDS Church. He received his education in Payson schools and had been empl;oyed by the Pacific States Cast Iron Company.

Survivors include his wife; one son and two daughters, George Rex Elmer, Murray; Mrs. Larry (Kay) Darton, Sandy; Mrs. Kendell (Maye) Ewell, Genola; 14 grandchildren; one brother and three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Wilma) Wride, Mrs. Hugh (Edna) Gerber, Mrs. Ernest (Estella Faye) Caress and Merl Lynn Elmer, all of Payson.

Della Warner Elmer Henrie died April 14, 2006 from a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Della was born July 21, 1921 in Mapleton, Utah to John Fox Warner, Jr. and Ardell Perry.

She married Merl Lynn Elmer on June 8, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 52 years when he preceded her in death on November 2, 1990. She married Wallace "Dick" Henrie on October 4, 1997. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2002.

Della was educated in Spanish Fork Schools. She was a member of the LDS church and had held many positions throughout her life. She worked in the Nebo School District school lunch program for many years.

Della was an accomplished seamstress. She also enjoyed gardening, singing, camping with her family, and spending winters in St. George with family and friends. During the last few years of her life, she especially enjoyed going for rides to see the flowers and birds.

She is survived by her children: Marilyn (Abe) Turner of Spanish Fork; Joan (Steve) Kennedy of Layton, Utah; Elaine (Dean) Teasdale of Syracuse, Utah; Laurel (Russell) Dodge of St. George, Utah; and Kevin (Chris) Elmer of Provo, Utah; 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two step-children from her marriage to Dick Henrie: David (Linda) Henrie of Spanish Fork, Utah; and Diane (Doug) Whitney of Springville, Utah; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters: Betty Peters and Ruth Petrucci; brothers: Leo Warner and Ron Warner; special sister-in-law: Myrl Warner; and brother-in-law: Bill Nevers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, brothers, Perry and Ray, and sisters, Leora and Orlean.

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Earnest Caras, better known to his friends and family as Earnie Caras of Benjamin, Utah, died on Sunday, November 6, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, of Pneumonia. He joined his beautiful lady, Estella Faye Haskell Caras today in a grand reunion of love and happiness forever and ever.

Earnest was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary Sorensen and Angel Caras, a brother Franklin A. Caras, and a sister Sofia Caras Buckmiller.

He is survived by 4 children: Gerald A. Caras of Payson; Terry Earnest Caras of Craig, Colorado; Colleen Caras Hatfield of Springville; and Angela Caras Medlyn of Ely, Nevada. 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was sheep man of the year and he loved fast pitch softball. He was the catcher and Merril Beckstrom was his pitcher. The two of them made a great pair. He was in the Benjamin riding club for many years, enjoyed calf roping and rode in many parades. He had a cutting horse that he spent many enjoyable times riding and competing with. He loved all horses and being able to take care of them. He loved to fish, but really didn't catch any.

He appreciated and loved people, especially loved his family and friends. We know he will be greatly missed by all.
