February 16, 2001The funeral for Marion Raymond Olds, 90, United Helpers Canton Nursing Home, formerly of Potsdam, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. W. Russell Clark officiating. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood.
Mrs. Olds died Thursday morning in Canton-Potsdam Hospital. She was a private-duty nurse in Potsdam and a registered nurse at Potsdam Hospital until her retirement.
Born May 7, 1910, in Norfolk, a daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Fenton Raymond, she was a graduate of St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center School of Nursing, Ogdensburg, and served a one-year residency at Bellevue Hospital, New York City. She married Fred M. Olds on Sept. 10, 1936, in Moira. He died Oct. 9, 1984.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, a past matron of Vega Chapter 98, Order of the Eastern Star and past president of St. Lawrence County Retired Nurses Association.
Surviving are a stepson, Robert Olds, Central Square; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Olds, Phoenix, N.Y.; a grandson, two granddaughters, four great-grandchildren and a niece.
A son, Raymond J., died June 20, 1991.

October 16, 1984Funeral services for Fred M. Olds, 87, 17 Cottage St., Potsdam, were held at 2 p.m. Friday (October 12, 1984) at the Seymour Funeral [Home] in Potsdam, with the Rev. Russell Clark officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Norwood.
Mr. Olds died Tuesday (October 9, 1984) at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Marion; two sons, Robert, Central Square and Raymond, Phoenix; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Olds was born in Morristown November 24, 1897, son of Stanley and Anna Robertson Olds.
He married the former Marion Raymond in 1936.
Mr. Olds worked as a clerk for New York Central Railroad for 47 years.
He was a 60-year member of the Racket River club and a member of the Lions Club for over 40 years.

September 30, 1983John Teller DeGraff, 81, a prominent New York lawyer who has lived in Tucson for the past five tears died here Sept. 19.
DeGraff was born in Amsterdam, N.Y., and was a graduate of St. Lawrence University and the Albany Law School. He practiced law in Albany for most of his career.
He was a former genetral counsel to the New Yorkl Civil Service Employees Associaton and a member of the New York Board of Law Examiners.
He was a former vice president of the New York Bar Association, and a member of the Albany Country Club, the Fort Orange Club, the Mill Reef Club of Antigua and the Old Pueblo Club in Tucson.
Survivors, include his wife, Pauline Remington Gibson DeGraff of Tucson, three sons and five gramdchildren.

February 15, 2002Marion Remington Leckonby, 83, East Syracuse, formerly of Potsdam, died Monday in Community-General Hospital, Syracuse.
Ms. Leckonby worked for Xerox Corp., Rochester, for several years.
Born Nov. 17, 1918, in Potsdam, daughter of William S. and Alice M. Collins Remington, she graduated from Potsdam Central School and in 1939 from St. Lawrence University, Canton.
A marriage to William Leckonby ended in divorce.
Surviving are a daughter, Lea Boylan, East Syracuse; two sons, Roy, Ohio, and William, California, 10 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.

November 4, 2007BETHLEHEM, Pa. William B. Leckonby, 90, beloved Lehigh University football coach and athletic director of Bethlehem, died October 22, 2007 in Kirkland Village.
He was the husband of Amanda Johnnie (Johnston) Leckonby for 37 years.
Born in Greenville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Reverend George Barrett and Katherine (Bader) Leckonby. When his father became the rector of Church of the Ascension, his family moved to Troy where, in 1935, Bill graduated from Troy High School. Bill received a bachelor of science degree in psychology from St. Lawrence University in 1939. He ranks as one of St. Lawrence University's all-time greatest triple threat backs. Following college graduation, he played for Jock Sutherlands Brooklyn Dodgers in the National Football League while pursuing his master's degree. He played his last game in the Polo Grounds on December 7, 1941, after which he quickly entered into military service with the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Leckonby began his illustrious career at Lehigh in 1946 as the head football coach, and had an 85-53-5 mark for the 16 seasons, between 1946 and 1961. He coached the 1950 Lehigh team to the schools only perfect-record season in 109 years of football and in 1951, was named Small College Coach of the Year. His 1957 squad won the Lambert Cup, just established for mid-sized school gridiron eastern supremacy. Lehigh again won the Lambert Cup in his final season on the sideline in 1961. As director of athletics at Lehigh, from 1962 to 1985, in honor of his impact as an athlete and legendary collegiate coach, he was rewarded with inductions into the Troy High School, St. Lawrence University and Lehigh Athletics Halls of Fame.
Bill was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Bethlehem, Saucon Valley Country Club, the Bethlehem Club, and the Lehigh 50 Game Club. An avid golfer, he also coached the golf team at Lehigh.
A devoted husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather, Bills family was very important to him. Surviving with his wife, Amanda; are sons, William and Judith Leckonby of Portola Valley, Calif., Dr. Roy and Janice Leckonby of Granville, Ill. and Larry and Cris Leckonby of College Park, Md.; daughters, Lea Ann Boylan of East Syracuse, N.Y. and Linda and David Rotthoff of Massillon, Ohio; a sister, Katharine Couchot; and sister-in-law, Martha Leckonby, both of West Sand Lake; 16 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, George Leckonby.

Two brothers, Floyd and Richard Bovay, died before her.
Born in Potsdam on May 30, 1915, a daughter of Floyd and Ruth Parody Bovay, she married Harold B. Ellis on June 24, 1933. The marriage ended in divorce. Mr. Ellis died Nov. 8, 1969. She married Lloyd Kennedy on Nov. 27, 1956, in Reno, Nev. He died Dec. 22, 1989.
Mrs. Kennedy was employed with Potsdam State University College as a pastry chef and was a foster parent for more than 30 years, caring for more than 200 children. She was a member of St. Mary's parish in Potsdam and Parishville and a member of Hilltoppers Senior Citizen Group.

December 20, 1993Margaret R. Ellis, 87, Brewerton, a native of Norwood and mother of Richard Ellis, Mexico, died Saturday in St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, Syracuse, after a brief illness.
Surviving besides her son are her husband of 69 years, Lewis E.; another son, Paul, Broadalbin; a daughter, Anne S. Greenwood, Brewerton; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
Mrs. Ellis had lived in Liverpool since 1962.

December 19, 1993Margaret R. Ellis, 87, of Kathan Road, Brewerton, died Saturday in St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center after a brief illness.
A native of Norwood, Mrs. Ellis has lived in Brewerton since 1962. She worked as a nurse's aide for Syracuse General Hospital during World War II. Mrs. Ellis was retired from her job as a Photostat technician with Unity Life Insurance Co., Syracuse, where she worked 18 years. She later worked in sales for Mullin Real Estate. Mrs. Ellis was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Brewerton.
Surviving are her husband of 69 years, Lewis E.; two sons, Paul of Broadalbin and Richard of Mexico; a daughter, Anne S. Greenwood of Brewerton; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Eva Maye Wright, 83 of Centerville went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, at her home.
Eva was born to Clarence & Grace (Kingery) Irelan in Blakesburg, Iowa. She graduated from Moravia High School in 1941. After graduating she taught school until her marriage to Oliver Wright on August 6, 1944 in Drakesville, Iowa.
Eva is survived by six children; Ollie Wright (Janet), Marvin Wright (Jewell), Vera Byard (Mack), Ken Wright (Irma), Stan Wright (Rose), Nancy Wright, 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Arlene Jarvis, Ruth Arndt(Tom), four brothers; Carl Ireland (Ruth), Glenn Ireland, Max Ireland (Lois), GA and Joe Irelan (Betty), She was preceded in death by her husband Oliver Wright on November 1, 1999, four sons; Phil Wright, Leslie Wright, Harold Wright, Curtis Wright and a grandson, Gregory Wright.

September 2, 2008Eva Laura Larkin, 99, of Burlington died at 3.58 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Jan. 3, 1909, in Paris Bunch, Davis County she was the daughter of George Augustis and Anna Wechsung Wright. On Dec. 24, 1935, she married Wendell E. McKay in Lancaster, Mo. He died October 2002. In September 1962, she married Peter Larkin in Las Vegas, Nev. He died June 5, 1970.
Mrs. Larkin taught English and home economics in the Ottumwa School District, in California and Nevada. She was a dietitian in Iowa, California, Montana and Texas. She was a professional seamstress. She sold hearing aids. She was a 1932 graduate of University of Northern Iowa and studied audiology at Western Illinois University in Macomb. She took computer classes at Southeastern Community College.
She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school, vacation Bible school and volunteered in the READ program at West Burlington schools. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, hand needle tatting, fine crochet and other hand crafts.
Survivors include one daughter, Marjorie Lilliann Duttweiler of West Burlington; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; nieces annd nephews.
