July 2, 1992Myron Dashnaw, 74, of West Harris Street, East Syracuse, died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital.
A native of Dickenson Center, Mr. Dashnaw lived in East Syracuse since 1952. He retired in 1980 after 30 years with the New York Central Railroad.
Surviving are his wife, Florence; three sons, Howard Badgely of Syracuse, Alan of Parish and Rex of West Monroe; three daughters, Ruth Anne Casler of Erieville, Barbara Austin of Bridegeport and Lynda Masters of Cortland; two sisters, Dorothy Riley of Malone and Vivian Mosher of Dickenson Center; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Malone, she lived in East Syracuse for many years before moving to Erieville in 1992.

November 13, 1997Vivian D. Mosher, 73, South Main Street, St. Regis Falls, formerly of Dickinson Center, died Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter Gwendolyn Frasher, St. Regis Falls.
Mrs. Mosher was a homemaker.
Born June 21, 1924, in Fairfax, Vt., a daughter of William and Mary Haskell Dashnaw, she attended Malone schools and married Varick A. Mosher on Feb. 12, 1946, in Malone. He died Feb. 29, 1992.
She was a member of St. Regis Falls Adult Center.
Surviving are three sons, Donald, Ogdensburg, Peter, Greensboro, N.C., and Terry, Las Vegas, Nev.; four daughters, Phyllis Kleineisel, Tupper Lake, Mrs. Hal (Gwendolyn) Fraser, St. Regis Falls, Mrs. David (Darlene) Ploof, Saranac Lake, and Debbie Gero, Malone; a sister, Dorothy Riley, Malone; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
A son, Mark, three brothers, Myron, Ernie and Ralph Dashnaw, and three sisters, Viola Holmes, Irene Motsinger and Rita Meashaw, died before her.

January 4, 2016Phyllis Ann (Mosher) Kleineisel, 71, passed away Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at her home surrounded by family and friends.
Phyllis was born in Dickinson, the daughter of the late Varick and Vivian (Dashnaw) Mosher. She graduated from St. Regis Falls High School, and then moved to Flushing, New York, to work for Creedmoor State Hospital. After several years, she moved to Tupper Lake and went to work at Sunmount for 22 years, retiring in 2002.
She is survived by three sisters and three brothers, Gwen and Hal Fraser, Darlene Mosher-Ploof, Debra Gero and her companion, Otis, Donnie Mosher and his wife, Betty, Peter Mosher and his wife, Barb, and Terry Mosher and his companion, Linda; and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Rudolf Kleineisel, who passed away Nov. 11, 1996; her son, Frankie Rudolf Kleineisel, who passed away on April 20, 2007; and one brother, Mark Mosher, who passed away on April 3, 1987.

RICHFORD / SWANTON - Floyd Keith Corey, age 74, died Tuesday August 26. 2003 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
He was born in Enosburg Falls, VT July 21, 1929 the son of the late Joseph & Beulah (Dashno) Corey.
Floyd work as a farmer as a youngster, then was employed at Hoods Creamery in St. Albans. Then worked at Martians construction, he also worked at Imperial Nurseries in Connecticut for several years before moving back to Vermont in 1971 at which time he and his wife Arlene opened a small grocery store in Sheldon Creek. In 1973 he moved to Swanton and began working for Pike Industries. Shortly thereafter Floyd worked many years at Anderson Concrete and retired in 1993. Floyd enjoyed fishing and his family. He was also an avid woodworker and reader.

November 16, 2010EAST BERKSHIRE-Arlene N. Corey, 79, passed away on Sunday evening, Nov. 14, 2010, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, with her family at her side.
Arlene was born on Jan. 10, 1931, in Swanton, the daughter of Willard and Della Rose (Nolan) Hilliker.
She was raised in Swanton and on Aug. 15, 1946, married Floyd Corey.
In 1953, Floyd and Arlene moved to Connecticut and resided there until 1971, when they returned to Sheldon Creek and operated a small grocery store there for several years. She returned to Swanton in 1974. Since the death of her husband on Aug. 25, 2003, she has lived with her daughter, Jeanine, in East Berkshire.
Surviving are Arlene's children: Everett Corey and his wife, Mary, of Windsor Locks, Conn., Nydia Chapman and her husband, Raymond, of West Suffield, Conn., Sandra Nejako and her husband, Peter, of East Granby, Conn., Jeanine Rondeau and her husband, George, of East Berkshire, and Germaine Cross and her husband, Jeff, of Swanton; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her sisters, Pauline Labrie of St. Albans, Betty Cadieux of Swanton and Shirley Evans of Elmira, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews.

She married Frederick Dashno on Nov. 4, 1929, at St. Patrick's Church. He died June 26, 1981.
Surviving were three sons, Archie, Nicholville; Francis, Westfield, MA; and Albert, Enfield, CT; a daughter, Lenora Debiew, Chicopee, Mass; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Cyr, Toronto, Ontario, and several nephews and nieces.
A daughter, Marie Christian, died in 1965. Two brothers and two sisters also died before her.

Mr. Christian was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Syracuse. He was a member of Police Benevolent Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Born on December 10, 1941, in Stockholm, N.Y., he was the son of the late Frederick and Lena (Yaddow) Dashnaw. John was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Navy Seabee's, retiring after 30 years, and a member of the Am Vets Post No. 18 of Enfield. John retired in 1999 from Hamilton Standard.

December 17, 2017Betty J. Billings, age 77, died on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Center in Atlanta, GA after a year-long battle with oral cancer. She was born in Utica, NY March 31, 1940 to Clarence and Dorothy Dashnow.
Betty is survived by her 3 sons - Roger, Kevin and Stuart Billings, 2 daughters - Cindy Ashworth and Sheila Billings Long, her sister Shirley Curcio and 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother Clarence Dashnow, her son, Matthew Billings and her granddaughter, Chrystal Billings.
Betty worked hard all her life and loved people, Italian food and red wine. Wherever she went she could quickly light up a room and put a smile on every face. She reached out to anyone in need and offered whatever she could to make the situation better. She has a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by her children.

February 17, 2020Audrey Mae (Bapp) Messier, 75, of Derby Vermont passed away February 13th, 2020 after a long struggle with COPD, Congestive Heart Failure, Lung Cancer, and Diabetes. She was born on December 18th, 1944 to Roswell and Alice (Dashnow) Yaddow in Burlington, Vermont.
On October 24th, 1987 she married the love of her life, Dale Messier and they worked side by side for many years. She was a former Weight Watchers group leader, owner of her own garbage route, did private trucking, and co-owned A & D Used Furniture in Orleans. After the shop closed, she worked for Ethan Allen until her husband retired and then she moved to Derby and became the custodian for the Vermont State Police barracks in Derby until her retirement in December 2008.
Audrey was an extremely hard worker and was not afraid to get her hands dirty. There was no job too big or to messy for her to tackle. She was well known for her whoopie pies and her pumpkin rolls.
She enjoyed going to yard sales, bingo, and going to Cardio-Pulmonary rehab class with Steve, Heather, Casey and Kimi, at North Country Hospital.
She is survived by her children Charles Bapp Jr. and his wife Diane of Barton, George Bapp and his wife April of Brownington, Tammy Jewett and her husband Steve of Irasburg, Karol Curtis and her husband Benny of Brownington, her sister Gannell Bocash of Hyde Park, as well as her grandchildren Lonnie Griffin and his wife Katrina , Lance Bapp and his girlfriend Kristrina Smith, Brent Bapp and his girlfriend Terra Buntun, Hannah Perkins and her husband Dominic, Crystal Conley and her husband Brian, Trisha Tucker and her husband Christopher, Casey Rowell and her husband Andy, Cory Curtis and his wife Ryan Ann, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchild, 4 nieces, and multiple good friends.

Enosburg Falls- Betsy Ann Ploof, 69, passed away on Monday evening, April 16, 2012 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
Betsy was born on September 8, 1942 in Georgia, VT, the daughter of Theodore and Evelyn (Dashno) Corey. Her marriage to Roger Ploof took place on July 24, 2000.
Betsy was a hard worker. In her earlier years she had been employed at Peerless Clothing and as a housekeeper at Smugglers Notch and the VT Army National Guard in Enosburg. She especially loved fishing, knitting, crocheting and visiting with family.
Surviving are her husband, Roger Ploof of Enosburg Falls; 2 daughters Joanne Bouchard and her husband Sonny of Enosburg Falls and Melissa Delisle and her husband John of Richford; 2 brothers Michael Corey and his wife Valerie and Randy Corey and his wife Karen, all of Enosburg; a sister Joyce Godin of Berkshire; 5 grandchildren, including her grandson Wayne, with whom she enjoyed many special times; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

August 29, 2008RICHFORD - Homer Donald Corey, 66, a resident of Troy Street in Rich-ford, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with his loving wife, Arlene, and friend, Nancy, at his side.
Homer was born on July 20, 1942, in Johnson, Vt., the son of Benjamin and Albena (LaRoche) Corey.
Homer farmed for most of his life and had also been employed at Benjamin's Sawmill and McDermott Trucking. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and, especially, country music and playing his guitar and recording music. His favorite baseball team was the New York Yankees.

September 18, 2006ENOSBURG FALLS - Gaylord R. "Shorty" Corey, age 60, passed away Saturday Sept. 16, 2006 as the result of a tragic car accident.
He was born in Cambridge, Vt. on August 2, 1946 the son of the late Theodore and Evelyn (Dashno) Corey.
Shorty owned and operated Shorty & Sons Concrete for many years and had also worked for Hank Gaduas in St. Albans and had helped his son Paul with his logging operation.
He leaves this life during his favorite time of year, "Fall." His love for hunting and fishing was what he lived for. He also looked forward to this time of year so he could spend time in the woods with his family and friends, His other passion was his prize possession, a 1971 MACH 1 Mustang that he spent a lot of time restoring and was extremely proud of.
Sadly he leaves behind three sons, Paul Corey and his wife, Tammy, of Coventry, Todd Lapan and his wife, Lori, of Enosburg, and David Lapan and his wife, Bonnie, of Sheldon Springs; a daughter, Angela Raymo and her husband, Todd, of Highgate; two brothers and their wives, Michael and Valerie Corey, and Randall and Karen Corey all of Enosburg; two sisters, Betsy Plouffe and her husband, Roger, of Enosburg, and Joyce Godin of Berkshire. He leaves behind several grandchildren who all had a special place in his heart, Gage and Jared Corey, Cody and Nick Lapan, Chelsea and Chentel Lapan, and Melinda Raymo; his nieces and nephews, Casey and Carrie Corey, and Renee and Teddy Corey.
Also left behind was his long time companion and close friend Joyce Lemnah of Alburgh Springs; many close friends including James and Jack Rhodes, Carl and Patty Badgely, Jo Demar, Ernie Clark and Pat Lahue; his most loyal companion was his dog, Kylie. Shorty will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

February 23, 2019Albert George Dennis, 69, passed away Feb. 16, 2019. He was born to Albert and Vivian Dennis on Sept. 12, 1949 in Potsdam, New York.
On Aug. 1, 1998, he married the love of his life, Jeanette Dennis, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Albert was a caring husband with a love for classic cars. He enjoyed cruising around Kingman in his 1949 Plymouth Custom.
He is survived by his wife; Jeanette, his four children; Scott, George, Kevin, and Tina, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his brothers; Raymond and Ricky, and his sister; Doris Green.

April 6, 2008Margaret A. Borey, 58, of 15120A Route 37, died Friday at Highland Nursing Home where she had been under the care of her family. She had been ill with cancer for the past several months.
Ms. Borey was a supervisor at Cornell's Dry Cleaning for 15 years. She was also employed as an inserter for Johnson Newspaper Corp., and until her illness she was a sales clerk at Keegan's Smoke Shop, Hogansburg.
Born Aug. 7, 1949, in Massena, daughter of Arthur J. and Irene M. Brown Borey, she attended Massena schools.
She married Albert G. Dennis on Dec. 6, 1967, at Grace Methodist Church. The marriage ended in divorce.
Surviving are three sons, George A. Borey, Massena, Scott A. Borey, Buffalo, and Kevin L. Borey, Hinton, Okla.; a daughter, Tina A. Mattison, Massena; two brothers and their wives, Arthur and Barbara Borey, Massena, and Jimmy and Barbara Borey, DeGrasse; two sisters and their husbands, Donna and Edward Harvey, Chase Mills, and Sally and Daniel Jacob, Massena; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

August 26, 2015Mrs. Marjorie H. Dissottle, 87, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2015 at the Cypress Cove Center in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
Marjorie was born in Dickinson on April 19, 1928 to the late Fred and Maud (Haskell) Dashno. She attended rural schools, then Dickinson School, graduating from Johnson High School in Vermont. On April 21, 1945 she married Louis Eugene Dissottle at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls with Fr. John Cotter celebrating. They shared a wonderful union of 62 years, until the time of Louis' passing on January 20, 2008.
She was a cook at St. Lawrence Central School for 25 dedicated years, retiring in 1990.
Marjorie was always up for a game of cards with her friends and family. She was an avid bowler; bowling in the Saturday Night Mixed Couples League and Tuesday Night League in Moira.
She was a member of the VFW Sam Sweeney Post #7326 in North Lawrence and the Lawrenceville Fire Department Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sons: Eugene Dissottle and his fiancé Carol Flint, Joseph and Linda Dissottle, and Gary Dissottle, all of Winthrop, and one daughter, Deborah Sweeney of AL, a legacy of 14 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Kaitlyn Dissottle-Camidge and she was the last sibling of the Dashno family; predeceased by her sisters: Alice Yaddow, Laura Thomas, Vivian Dennis, Evelyn Corey, Beulah Corey, Sarah Dashno, and her brothers, Fred, Floyd, Clarence, Lewis, and Raymond Dashno.

January 22, 2008Louis Eugene Dissottle died on Sunday (1/20/2008) at Canton-Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam.
He was born on March 20, 1925, in Hopkinton, son of Eugene Louis Dissottle and Lena Burnett Dissottle Knox.
He married Marjorie Dashno of Dickinson on April 21, 1945 at St. Patrick's Church in Brasher Falls.
He was a farmer and worked at Kraft in North Lawrence until 1949. He then was a heavy-equipment operator for the town of Lawrence Highway Department, retiring in 1987.
Surviving was his wife; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Eugene, Joseph and Linda and Gary and Sharon, and a daughter, Deborah Sweeney, all of Winthrop; his foster son's widow, Margaret Smith, Winthrop, 14 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
His foster son, Robert Smith, a sister, Ellen Ober, and a great-granddaughter died before him.

October 27, 2012WESTMORELAND, NH - Edwin E. Haskell, Jr., 92, formerly of Rolling Hills Village in Hinsdale died peacefully Thursday afternoon, October 25, 2012 at Maplewood Nursing Home with his daughter Merry and grandson Wesley by his side.
Mr. Haskell was born in Brockton, Mass. on May 3, 1920 the son of Edwin E. and Eva (Godbout) Haskell. He was raised and educated in Manchester, NH and was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1938.
Following high school he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his honorable discharge he resided in Manchester, N.H. until 1970 when he moved to Hinsdale with his wife. Mr. Haskell worked as a printer for Colonial Press in Clinton, Mass. Previously he worked for Concord Litho Graphics of Concord, NH, Vermont Print of Brattleboro and a Print Shop in Turners Falls, Mass.
Mr. Haskell was a member the B.P.O. Elks, Brattleboro Post #1499 and the American Legion, Post #5. He was also a communicant of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Brattleboro. Of his leisure time activities, he enjoyed motorcycle riding ,hunting and fishing.
On August 17, 1940 in Manchester, NH he was married to Ruby I. Stevens who predeceased him on December 28, 2007.
He leaves one son, Harold D. Haskell of Lubbock, TX; two daughters, Jacqueline H. House of Salt Springs, FL and Merry B. Haskell of Hinsdale; six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two greatgreat grandchildren and five nieces.
He was predeceased by a son, Edwin Haskell, III his sister, Helen Carpenter and a granddaughter Tammy Jo Lincecum.

January 1, 2008BRATTLEBORO -- Ruby Inez Haskell, 93, of Hastings Circle in Hinsdale, N.H., a former resident of Rolling Hills Village, died Friday Dec. 28, 2007, at Harborside-Applewood Healthcare in Winchester, N.H. Mrs. Haskell was born in Sutton on May 24, 1914, the daughter of Wellington and Flora (McLaughlin) Stevens. She was raised and educated in Sutton, attending local schools where her mother taught.
A resident of Hinsdale since 1969, she previously resided in Lancaster, Mass. Mrs. Haskell was a dedicated homemaker as well as a faithful and devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. With her husband, she was a member for 35 years at Saint Michael's Episcopal Church in Brattleboro. She was steadfast in her walk of faith.
Of her leisure time activities, she enjoyed gardening, flowers and baking. On Aug. 17, 1940, in Manchester, N.H., she was married to Edwin E. Haskell, who survives.Besides her husband of 67 years, she leaves one son, Harold D. Haskell of Lubbock, Texas; two daughters, Jacqueline H. House of Salt Springs, Fla., and Merry B. Shepard of Hinsdale; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five nieces.

December 27, 2002HOOKSETT -- Edwin E. "Hackey" Haskell III, 59, of 66 Farmer Road, died Dec. 25, 2002, at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen.
He was born in Goffstown on April 15, 1943, the son of Edwin E. and Ruby (Stevens) Haskell II of Hinsdale. He had spent most of his life in Hooksett.
He had been employed by the town of Hooksett highway department for 39 years, including time as road agent.
In addition to his parents, family members include his wife of 22 years, Gloria (Peterson) Haskell of Hooksett; two sons, Edwin Haskell IV of Florida and Donald Clemons of Eliot, Maine; two daughters, Michele Teriot of Pennsylvania and Carol Nelson of Auburn; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Merry Shapard of Hinsdale and Jacqueline House of Wolfeboro; a brother, Harold Haskell of Lubock, Texas; and nieces and nephews.

March 20, 2017Hooksett -- Gloria Ann (Peterson) Haskell, 86, of Hooksett, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 17, 2017 at her residence.
Born on February 4, 1931, in Manchester, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Clara (Freeman) Peterson.
Gloria worked for many years as a school bus driver for the Hooksett School District. She was an avid Red Sox fan and also loved the ocean.
Besides her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Edwin E. Haskell III; a son, Donald Clemons; brother, Ralph Peterson; sisters, Joan Cray and Barbara Cote; and grandson, Kenneth Nelson.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Nelson and her husband Ronald of Auburn; brother, Thomas Peterson of Lakeland, FL; sisters, Dorothy Mitchell and her husband Edward of Manchester, Virginia Levesque and her husband Raymond of Manchester; grandchildren, Jeremy Nelson, Cain and Katie Perham; seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Harold; two sisters, Thelma and Bonnie Harcom; and a nephew, Randy Harcom, all of Lubbock.
