June 23, 2019John P. Bossidy has finished his journey through this life and commenced a new journey into the future. His departure was June 18, 2019. John's wife and darling, Barbara L. Ruggles Bossidy, made his life's trip lovely and comfortable for sixty-five years. They married on July 18, 1953. She brought him immeasurable joy with herself and their five children: John, Bridget, Daniel, Kathleen, and Mary. John's family grew when Danny married Carol Yates, Kathy married William Hackett, Mary married Matthew Walsh, and Bridget married John Wcislo. These nine wonderful children further fulfilled John's trip by bringing forth his ten grandchildren: Anna Beckman and her husband Jeff, and Kelly Bossidy; Meaghan, Samantha, Benjamin and his wife Brittany, and Kathleen Walsh; Conor, Andrew, and Kellen Hackett; and Michael Wcislo.
John loved doing photography, compiling the family history, enjoying music, collecting bells, coins, and postcards, and telling jokes. Especially the latter. He was a life-long Democrat, voted in every election available (but never more than once per ballot), was a civic affairs buff, and has departed knowing the future of his country is in good hands with the children and grandchildren he has left behind. He was also a lover of dogs, the perfect companions for humankind. Because his three daughters matriculated at the University of Connecticut, and some of his grandchildren have followed there also, John was an avid fan of women's sports at UConn, especially Women's Ice Hockey, Women's Lacrosse, and Women's Basketball. He made many new friends at Storrs while cheering on "his girls" to victory. They became his foster daughters in his heart and his family's.
John was born on April 18, 1931, in Meriden, Connecticut, and had lived in Manchester since 1970. He served five years in the U.S. Navy, and worked in sales, machining, and investigations until retiring in 1996. John now follows his parents, Charles "Doc" Bossidy and Kathryn "Kit" Doody Bossidy, and his brother, Charles Bart Bossidy, into the promise of a new life. He will see you all again, so be sure to say, "Hi".

Cecil C. Hunnicutt speaking: Elsie was just an infant at the time this moving took place from Colorado to Nebraska, but she may be able to tell us a bit about that, at least what she remembers about it...
Elsie: The thing I remember most about that trip was that we went to the Nebraska-Colorado line in the covered wagon, and from there we stayed all night, and Dad went on in the covered wagon, and we stayed in a, well, you couldn't call it a hotel, but I suppose they did call it a hotel, which had a little building in the back. And, before we went to bed, mother took the three of us out to this little building, and when we got ready to come back in, the minute we opened that door, a billy goat met us, and every time we opened that door a crack, that billy goat would be right there. And finally the innkeeper heard us yelling for help, came out, and chased the billy goat away.
Elsie Fern was born January 1, 1982 and was married to James Sidders June 13, 1914. They lived in Ohio, had one child, Ethel May, born August 20, 1923, and adopted the youngest son of her sister Ethel, his name being Russell Keith Sidders.
Otto and Bessie were killed in an auto accident on Interstate Highway 80, less than a quarter mile from the home of their youngest son, on September 2, Labor Day, 1968. Bessie died at the scene of the accident, but Otto lived for about an hour and a half, dying on September 3.
Evelyn Faye was born December 20, 1895 near Arriba, Colorado in a sod house and was married to Orville Clarence Mitchell August 31, 1919 at a double wedding with her brother Otto at the Christian Church in Giltner, Nebraska. They lived on her parent's farm for six years where two of their children were born. They moved to Xenia, Ohio where Orville worked with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and retired about 1934. Faye and Orville had three children: Leland Orville, born December 18, 1920 near Giltner, Nebraska; Helen Marie, born February 2, 1922 near Giltner, Nebraska; Don Allen, born November 4, 1925 at Xenia, Ohio.
57308. Dr. Cecil Claude Hunnicutt
Cecil Hunnicutt was born March 17, 1904. He attended Loma Linda University, near Riverside, California, and got his M.D. degree on June 19, 1932. He practiced medicine for ten years in Montebello, California, joined the U.S. Army on the 15th day of October, 1942, and served in the Air Corp for about three and a half years. Much of his time was spent at the air base in Grand Island, Neb., much of it as the Executive Officer, and a good bit of the time also as the Chief of Surgery. (Some time was also spent in San Antonio, Texas and some in Sioux City, Iowa - DAG) After the war, he and his wife and children moved to Sabetha, Kansas where he is presently practicing.
Correction here--that I made no statements about what happened to Cecil Hunnicutt before he went into the Army and all that sort of business. It just happened that, on the 2nd day of August in the year 1928, he married a charming young lady by the name of Pauline Collins, who resided at that time in Riverside, California. These two met at California Christian College, across the street from the University of California at Los Angeles in the year 1926. The first date (was) at the groundbreaking ceremony of the University of California at Los Angeles at the present site of the immense University. It was in a sports model Model T Ford, that was barely wide enough to accomodate two people and, on that first date, she was very sure that she was going to fall out at every corner. That sports model of the Model T. Ford was a 1917 model and it had no fenders. It was cranked. It did have a top, but it had no sides. Exposed to the rain and weather, there were no windshield wipers.
An anecdote that goes back to Joanna, the third child of Bob and Isabel Gray: She recounts that, during part of their period in Nebraska, they had to move cattle from one place to another and this is her account of driving cattle from Cass County to Hamilton County. "When my folks were moving from Cass County to Hamilton County, it took several days, so that we had a tent to sleep under. We had two wagons and seventy-five head of cattle. My father would help drive through the larges towns. Abbie had burned her foot, so that it fell on Eva, Bert, and I to drive the cattle. In Lincoln we should have a driver for every eighteen head so Pa and Belle helped, and Pa told us to rush the cattle so that they could not count them. There were also several calves. They tried to stop us, but they finally let us go. We kids rushed the cattle while they were talking, and they could not count them. One night it rained. We were holding the cattle on a prairie, but they got out of hand. We went to a farmhouse, and my father ran after the cattle. They had started to run back home. He had to herd them all night. The farmer had him put them up in his pasture, and we had to stay until the next day, as Pa was sick all day. Usually we threw our bedding on the ground at night, but that night we slept in the farm house."
