Friday a telegram was received announcing the death of Lillian, wife of Harry Barrett, at her home in New Jersey. Besides her husband, three small children survive. Funeral and interment was at Speedsville, her former home Monday.
Mrs. Lillian W. Barrett, wife of Harry Barrett, formerly a resident of the town of Candor, died on Friday, Sept. 2, at her home in Kenilworth, N. J., aged 35 years. Her body arrived in this village Monday morning, and was taken by Undertaker Fred B. Emens to Weltonville for burial. Besides her husband she leaves three children.

After a courageous three-year battle with lung cancer, June Northrup, 81, of Chenango Bridge died peacefully in her home with family members at her side.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; her parents, Roger and Marion Gallagher; and her brother, Dickey Gallagher.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Monty and Carolyn Northrup of Lockhart, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Deb and Jim Woodham of Oneonta, NY; daughter, Sue Mertens of Vestal and son-in-law, Rick Mertens of Binghamton; four grandchildren, who were a source of great pride and joy to her, Tony Northrup of New London, CT, Mike Woodham of Somerville, MA, Jenn (and Seth) Schwartz of Montgomery Village, MD, and Josh Mertens of Vestal.
Also surviving her are brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Mary Gallagher of Chenango Bridge, Rod and Sheila Gallagher of Maine, NY; sister-in-law, Bev Gallagher and brother-in-law, Richard Northrop of Chenango Forks; and several nieces and nephews.
June was born and raised in Chenango Bridge and graduated from Chenango Valley High School. After raising her family, she worked for the Broome County Health Department until she retired in 1994. She treasured her friends from the Health Department and her bridge clubs, and special neighbors, Flora and Jane.

He was an Army veteran who retired in 1999 from Crucible Steel after 38 years of service. He was employed by Empire Credit Union, was Town of Cicero Court Bailiff for Judge Walczyk, was an Onondaga County Special Deputy and provided security for Knights of Columbus Bingo. He was a member of Bishop Curley Council 3717 Knights of Columbus and a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church.

She was born July 4, 1948, in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Catherine Smith.
Maureen had a smile that would light up the room and a laugh that would warm your heart. Her love for children and new babies in the family was always evident. She was an animal lover all of her life and had a special animal of her own-her cat Cassie.
Maureen is pre-deceased by her husband, Willard; and six siblings, Lloyd, Donald, Frederick, Francis, Collin, and Shirley.
She is survived by sisters, Chickie Procopio, Cathy Cayen, and Suzanne Lee; brothers, George, Teddy, Thomas, and James Smith; and many nieces and nephews, all of Syracuse.

January 22, 2008Clara Louise Shaw, 95, passed away peacefully January 16, 2008, at Mount Saint Francis Nursing Center. Clara was born May 21, 1912 in Lisle, New York to Jesse and Samantha Smith. She lived in Syracuse, New York for 33 years. She married Richard N. Shaw in July 1933, and they had 6 children.
In 1945 the family moved to Colorado Springs, where they lived for 32 years. She and Richard moved to Hemet, California in the early 1970s, and then she returned to Colorado Springs in 2001.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband Richard, daughters Bette and Patricia, grandsons Gary and Craig, four brothers, one sister and a daughter-in-law, Judith Shaw.
Clara is survived by her daughters, Carol Foltz and husband Ted; Donna Leasburg and husband Edward; her son Richard (Dick) Shaw, all of Colorado Springs and daughter Linda Gillespie of Hemet, California. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and thirteen great great-grandchildren.Clara lived a simple, but full life. When she was a young girl she lived four years in Washington, D.C., with a beloved aunt who was a school teacher. Among many experiences while there, she attended the inauguration of President Calvin Coolidge, and rolled Easter eggs on the White House lawn. She was an avid reader, a wonderful cook, and loved gardening. But most of her long life was dedicated to being a wife and loving mother. Her greatest joy was raising and being with her family. We will always remember her welcoming ways, her delicious meals, and the companionship she gave us. Over all the years, to her family, she was just our sweet Mom, and we will dearly miss her love and happy smiles.

Ronald J. "The Sandwich King" Smith, 70, of Mallory, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Crouse Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Syracuse on Feb 18, 1937, a son of John and Vivian Vanderwater and was a 1956 graduate of Cazenovia High School where he lettered in baseball, basketball and football.He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Marlene Kinney on Sept 1, 1968. He then married Desdie Thomason. He resided in Mallory for 37 years, moving from Baldwinsville. For 58 years he was a proud member of the Steam Fitters and Plumbers Local Union 267, with most of his career spent with CW Davis/Ice Pro. Ronald enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, movies, diners, home cooked meals and politics. He could always be found talking politics with his son-in-law and grandson.

She was born August 13, 1946, in Syracuse, a daughter of John C. and Vivian VanDerWater Smith, and was a graduate of DeRuyter High School. On February 28, 1965 JoAnn married Lloyd J. Newton in DeRuyter. For over four decades, JoAnn and Lloyd were dairy farmers. Following that, she had worked at McLaughlin's Department Store in Hamilton, and then for Dielectric Laboratories in Cazenovia. JoAnn's life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with them to their sporting events, dance recitals and anything else they did. She loved playing cards as well as holiday and family get-togethers. She was a friend to all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
