DARTMOUTH �  Ruby Marilyn Taber Plummer, age 88, of N. Dartmouth, died peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Tobey Hospital, with her children by her side. She was the wife of the late Bruce M. Plummer.

Born June 30, 1930, in New Bedford, Ruby was the daughter of the late Clinton E. and Ruby A. (Ransom) Taber, Sr. She was a graduate of N. B. High School. She worked for the N.B. School Food Service Dept. for many years.

Ruby was, in recent years, a member at First Church of the Nazarene but had been a long time member of the Advent Christian Church where she served as treasurer, deaconess, trustee, and many other roles. For many years she and her family were well known as the Singing Plummer Family, ministering in churches and grange halls around New England. Ruby was so very proud of her children and family and was happiest when surrounded by them. She spoke of them often and with great love. She was a dedicated servant of the Most High and a strong woman of faith.

She is survived by two sons, Rev. Bruce Plummer of Florida and Rev. Donald Plummer of New Hampshire; four daughters, Sharon Marshall of Maine, Marilyn Beaulieu of Acushnet, Lori Jerabek of Florida and Melody Winfrey of W. Wareham; two brothers, Rev. Clinton E. Taber of Florida and Rev. James E. Taber of North Carolina; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.


Bruce M. Plummer

NEW BEDFORD - Bruce M. Plummer, age 81 years, of New Bedford, died Thursday, January 24, 2008, at New Bedford Health Care Center. He was the husband of Ruby (Taber) Plummer.

Born in New Bedford, Bruce was the son of the late George T. and Gladys (Whitney) Plummer and a graduate of N. B. High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then was employed in the local Firestone Plant and later Chamberlain Manufacturing for 35 years as a machinist.

Bruce was a member of the old Advent Christian Church and then the Hope Evangelical Church where he served as pastor's assistant, trustee, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher and deacon emeritus. He and his family were, well known as the Singing Plummers performing in churches, grange halls, throughout the area. Bruce was a friend to the friendless, a father to the fatherless, a man of faith who let Jesus live through him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Rev. Bruce Plummer of Florida and Rev. Donald Plummer of New Hampshire; four daughters, Sharon Marshall of Maine, Marilyn Beaulieu of Acushnet, Lori Jerabek of Florida and Melody Winfrey of North Carolina; his sister, Oreita Smith of Arizona;, 26 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

WEST BARNSTABLE - The Rev. Vincent E. Taber, 70, died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, on Jan. 2, 2007.

He was the husband of Jean (Copeland) Taber.

Born on Aug. 31, 1936, in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Clinton E. Taber Sr. and the late Ruby A. (Ransom) Taber.

He is survived by his wife, Jean C. Taber; his two daughters, Beth A. (Taber) Klink of Middletown, Conn., and Donna J. (Taber) Grosso of Sandwich; his siblings, Ruby (Taber) Plummer of New Bedford, the Rev. Clinton E. Taber Jr. of Rochester, N.H., the Rev. Raymond E. Taber of Bristol, Conn., the Rev. James E. Taber of Morganton, N.C., and their spouses and children; his two grandchildren, Kayla J. Grosso and Brett T. Grosso; his two sons-in-law, Michael C. Klink and Thomas M. Grosso; his sister-in-law, Priscilla (Murch) Copeland, wife of the late William D. Copeland, and their family, and many dear friends.

The Rev. Taber was an ordained minister in the Advent Christian denomination. He served as the minister of the Lawrence Advent Christian Church for 13 years, as well as the Protestant chaplain of Lawrence General Hospital, and the director of an area weekday school of religious education. He then served as the president of Berkshire Christian College in Lenox for more than a decade, as well as a member of the Accrediting Commission for Bible College Education. For 22 years, he directed the Southern Connecticut Christian Counseling Center in Fairfield, Conn., and more recently, established the Christian Counseling Center of Southeastern Massachusetts. He spoke at numerous conferences throughout the United States, published several articles in a wide variety of publications, and authored two books.

The Rev. Taber graduated from New Bedford High School in 1954. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in theology from Berkshire Christian College in 1958. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 1962. He pursued doctoral studies at Boston University, with a concentration on the integration of personality, religion and culture.

The Rev. Taber was an accomplished musician, who enjoyed using his gift of music throughout his ministry. He was a competitive high school and college athlete, who also enjoyed golf throughout his adulthood. He will be remembered most for his commitment to his Lord and Savior, family, friends and vocation.

The Reverend Raymond E. Taber, 70, of Bristol, was united with the Lord Jesus Christ, on Thursday (October 1, 2009). He was the husband, for a remarkable 50 years, to Heather (Mosher) Taber.

Raymond was born on November 13, 1938 in New Bedford, MA to the late Clinton E. and Ruby A. (Ransom) Taber.

Raymond graduated from Berkshire Christian College with a Bachelor's degree in Theology. He then went on to serve as a Minister for 25 years before retiring. During that time, he was the minister for 6 churches throughout New England. He held a range of positions from grounds keeper to president in many Para Church Organizations, and was an experienced carpenter having remodeled many churches and parsonages. Raymond was also an accomplished singer and musician, known for his love of the trumpet and other brass instruments. Raymond spent his entire life ministering and caring for others, which was shown to the four children he and Heather fostered. The love and compassion Raymond possessed will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Along with his beloved wife Heather Taber of Bristol, he leaves four children David Taber and his wife Sheri of Southington; Donald Taber of East Hartford; Michelle Barker and her husband Roger of Florida and Danny Taber and his wife Lin of Coventry; an adopted daughter Becky Thompson of Southington, six grandchildren Brian, Josh, Kane, Jessica, Thomas and Emily and a great grandchild. He also leaves two brothers Clinton E. and James E. Taber; a sister Ruby Plummer; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Vincent E. Taber.

Hilda (Reynolds) Griswold, age 90 years, longtime resident of Middleboro, died on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at the Golden Living Center at Oak Hill, Middleboro, after a period of failing health.

Born in Middleboro; daughter of the late Leon and Louella (Blanchard) Reynolds, she was the wife of the late Ernest J. Griswold, who predeceased her in October of 2006.

In her early years, she was employed at Leonard and Barrows Shoe Company for many years.

Survivors include three brothers, Edward Reynolds of Taunton, David and his wife Joanne Reynolds of Swampscott, and Wayne and his wife Judy Reynolds of Lakeville.

MIDDLEBORO '97 Sheldon E. Reynolds Sr., aged 88 years, of Middleboro, died on August 3, 2016, at Morton Hospital, Taunton. He was born in Taunton, son of the late Leon and Luella (Blanchard) Reynolds.

He was a retired groundskeeper at the Lakeville State Hospital. His hobbies included working on lawn mowers. He enjoyed dancing and country music.

Survivors include his companion of many years, Barbara E. Travassos; two sons, Sheldon E. Jr. and his wife Wendy Reynolds, of Raynham, Gary L. and his wife Patty Reynolds, of South Carolina; a daughter, Yvonne "Tracy" Burch, of Carver; three brothers, David and his wife Joanne Reynolds, of Swamscott, Wayne and his wife Judy Reynolds, of Lakeville, Edward Reynolds, of Taunton; a sister, Hilda Griswald, of Middleboro; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

He was father of the late Robert Reynolds Sr., and grandfather of the late Sheldon E. Reynolds III.

Howard M. Reynolds, 73, of Lakeville, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008 at Morton Hospital in Taunton.

He was the loving husband of Natalie J. (Ventura) Reynolds of 55 years.

Born Sunday, Nov. 11, 1934 in Lakeville he was the son of the late Leon F. and Luella (Blanchard) Reynolds.

Mr. Reynolds was educated in Lakeville schools and was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed his beagles. He retired from the town of Lakeville where he was the dog officer for 20 years and was a member of the Bay State Draft Pony Association, Cape Cod Draft Pony Association and the current president of the Bridgewater Beagle Club.

In addition to his wife Natalie, he is survived by his children, Howard M. Reynolds, Jr. and his wife Lucinda, James Reynolds and his wife Jane, Douglas Reynolds and his fiancé Tammy, Jeffrey Reynolds and his wife Cheryl, Randy Reynolds and his wife Kerri and Hilda "Tilly" Leconte and her husband Steven; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Hilda Griswold of Lakeville; four brothers, David Reynolds of Swampscott, Edward Reynolds of Taunton, Sheldon Reynolds of Middleboro and Wayne Reynolds of Lakeville and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Leon Reynolds, Richard Reynolds, Gertrude Westgate, Arlene Medeiros, Eva St. Don, Delores Perreira, Lillian Reynolds, and Elsie Westgate.
