Inez (Cornell) Wilkie, 90, of Long Highway, Little Compton, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004 at home after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late Chester R. Wilkie Sr.
Born in Westport, a daughter of the late Arthur R. and Mabel (Tripp) Cornell, she had lived in Little Compton for over 70 years.
She attended Westport Schools in her childhood and was employed for over 50 years as a floor person for the former Fairhope Fabrics, Inc. of Fall River until her retirement. She was a member of the United Congregational Church of Little Compton.
Mrs. Wilkie was responsible with her late husband for bringing square dancing to Little Compton in the 1950s, ultimately building Chet's Barn, which became a mecca for square dancers all along the East Coast. An avid bingo player who loved to travel, she was also a member of the Little Compton Women's Bowling League for many years.
She leaves two sons, Chester R. Wilkie Jr. of Little Compton and Carlton "Butch" Wilkie of Little Compton; a daughter, Caroline W. Wordell of Little Compton; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Arthur "Benny" Wilkie and sister of the late Avis Gifford, Rosamond Loman, Howard Cornell, Hervey Cornell, Albert Cornell, and Arthur Cornell.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Tiverton.

June 2, 2000PITTSFIELD -- Catherine H. Wilkie, 84, of Amity Street, Fall River, died Tuesday at Southpointe Nursing & Rehab Center after a lengthy illness.
She was the mother of William W. Wilkie of Pittsfield. Born in Dartmouth, daughter of Owen and Bertha Mae Pierce Cummings, she had been a resident of Fall River since 1969. She had attended St. George Church, Westport.
Her husband, Adelbert E. Wilkie, is deceased.
Besides her son in Pittsfield, she leaves two other sons, Raymond R. Wilkie of Tempe, Ariz., and George A. Wilkie of New Bedford; three daughters, Muriel A. Rogers of Somerset, Sharyn M.B. Grace and Donna C. Paradise, both of Fall River; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Roy of Fall River; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Born in Westport, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Agnes (Hancock) Haskell.
She is survived by 2 sons: Alan E. "Jump" Gifford of Westport and Wendell H. "Benny" Gifford and his wife Estelle of Westport; a daughter: Dorothy S. Gifford of Westport; several nieces and nephews.

October 3, 1990NEW BEDFORD - Mildred A.R. (Miller) Howe, 74, of New Bedford, formerly of Millbury Avenue, Millbury, died Sept. 25 in St. Luke's Hospital.
Her husband, William E. Howe, died in 1984. She leaves a brother, Irving R. Miller of Dartmouth; two sisters, Iantha Haskell and Joyce Viera, both of New Bedford; and nephews and nieces, including Grace Osborne of Shrewsbury and Carolyn Gilbertson of Lorida, Fla., who were raised by Mrs. Howe. She was born in New Bedford, a daughter of Byron H. and Florence (Weeks) Miller. She lived in Millbury many years before returning to New Bedford five years ago.
Mrs. Howe was a member of Naomi Rebekah Lodge of Worcester.

Survivors include a son, Allen C. Haskell of New Bedford; two daughters, Joan C. Haskell of New Bedford and Nancy F. Rua of Bradenton, Fla.; a sister, Joyce Viera of New Bedford; six grandchildren, Rebecca L. Morris, David A. Haskell, Felecia M. Cruz, Michael R. Sylvia, Jeffrey A. Sylvia and James A. Sylvia; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Mildred Howe, Lester Miller and Irving Miller.

Joyce B. (Miller) Viera, 90, of New Bedford passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015, at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home.
She was the wife of the late Joseph Viera, Jr. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Byron and Florence (Weeks) Miller, she was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School and a city resident for most of her life. Joyce was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Wayne H. Viera and his wife Jeanine of Sherburn, NY; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a great, great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was the sister of the late Lester and Irving Miller, Mildred Howe and Iantha Haskell.

Joseph Viera Jr., 87 of 200 Hawthorn Street, New Bedford, formerly of Dartmouth died Friday, December 15, 2006 at Saint Lukes's Hospital.
He was the husband of of Joyce B. (Miller) Viera. Born January 20, 1919 in New Bedford, Massachusetts he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (DeTerra) Viera Sr.
Mr. Viera worked for Loranger Construction for twenty-seven years as a carpenter. He was a member of Saint Paul's Methodist Church. A World War II Army Veteran.
Besides his wife of sixty-one years he leaves, one son, Wayne H. Viera and his wife Jeanine of Sherburn, New York, one sister, Eunice Pinto of Dartmouth, MA; six grandchildren and eight great grand children. Mr. Viera was the brother of the late John Viera, Harold Viera and Marguerite Machado.

He is survived by his wife, Marian J. Haskell. He had three sons by a previous marriage, Gordon D. Haskell (deceased), Richard A. Haskell and Kenneth E. Haskell, who survive; two brothers, Donald H. Haskell and Paul B. Haskell; and three stepchildren, Carolyn L. True, Rodney J. Kalman and Dale D. Kalman.
Marian has moved back to Michigan.
