Mavis L. Ferendzo, 75, of 22521 Boyd Road, died Tuesday morning in Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, where she had been a resident for two months.

Born Jan. 11, 1931, in Norton, Mass., daughter of Solom and Lena Doherty Haskell, she attended Norton schools.

She married John L. Ferendzo on April 27, 1950, in Yosts. Mr. Ferendzo died June 12, 2002.

The couple lived for several years in the Schenectady area, where Mrs. Ferendzo was a model and district manager for BeeLine Fashions. After they moved to Carthage, she was a ward secretary at Carthage Area Hospital and was active in the organization of the hospital union.

Surviving are four sons, Paul J. Ferendzo, Watertown, David P. Hallenbeck, Mechanicville, Pierre J. Ferendzo, Lebanon, Ill., and John S.H. Ferendzo, Burnt Hills, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

John P. Ferendzo, 80, of 22521 Boyd Road, died Wednesday in the Carthage Area Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, where he had been a patient since May 22.

Mr. Ferendzo retired in 1975 from Duane's Toyland, Schenectady, where he was assistant manager for many years.

Born John Perfetto on Jan. 17, 1922, in Carthage, son of Louis and Katherine Schermerhorn Perfetto, he attended Carthage High School.

He served in the Army from Oct. 7, 1942, to Sept. 17, 1943.

He married Mavis L. Haskell on April 27, 1950, at Yosts.

Mr. Ferendzo moved back to Carthage after retiring to care for his mother, who was ill.

Surviving besides his wife are four sons, David P., Mechanicville, Peter J., Lebanon, Ill., John S.H., Burnt Hills, and Paul J., Watertown, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral for Jane P. LaVine, 69, of 42 Bridge St., will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Scherer Funeral Home, Carthage, with the Rev. James E. Mulligan, pastor of First Baptist Church, Carthage, officiating. Spring burial will be in New St. James Cemetery, Carthage.

Mrs. LaVine died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in Carthage Area Hospital, where she had been a patient since Feb. 26.

Mrs. LaVine was employed at Bomax, Watertown, and later was a waitress at Elmer's Diner, Carthage.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and a former member of West Carthage Fire Department Auxiliary and enjoyed playing bingo and collecting elephant figurines.

Born July 7, 1932, in Norton, Mass., daughter of Solomon and Lena McHugh Haskell, she attended Norton schools and in 1949 moved to Carthage, where she lived with her sister, Maevis.

She married Harold E. LaVine on Oct. 9, 1949, at Carthage.

Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Alan, Tylerville, and Barry, West Carthage; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Walker, Cheboygan, Mich., and Rosemary LaVine, West Carthage; two sisters, Maevis Ferendzo, Carthage, and Harriet Archer, Norton; seven grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A brother, Gordon Haskell, and three sisters, Bernice Legacy, Susan Armstrong and Thelma, died before her.

THE BODY of a New Bedford fisherman missing nearly 11 weeks has been recovered from an inlet in Nantucket about six miles from Straight ,Wharf where he was last seen, police said.

The body of Fred Haskell, about 51, was seen in the water by a passer-by about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, said Patrolman John Irving,

An autopsy was to be performed, but police said they do not suspect foul play. They think he fell into the ocean and drowned and the current carried his body into the inlet near Pocomo Point.

Irving said Haskell was last seen in bad weather about 1:30, a.m, Jan 28, walking toward a fishing boat docked at Straight Wharf.

WESTBOROUGH Pauline E. Haskell, 101, of Westborough, died on Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Westborough Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Prescott E. Haskell.

Born in Avon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Florence (Erby) Spangler and was educated in Avon schools. Mrs. Haskell was employed as an assembler for Alden Electronics in Westborough for many years, prior to her retirement.

Pauline was a loving mother and grandmother devoted to her entire family. She is survived by her nine grandchildren: Kathy Huss, Julie Redfern, Jeffrey Thompson, Randy Thompson, Wendy Turcotte, Lisa Lasorsa, Jerry Haskell, Heidi White and Cindy Haskell; a daughter-in-law, Carol Haskell; two sisters: Florence Ruppenthal and Betty Firestine; 24 great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren.

She was the mother of the late Carol O'Brien, Joan Thompson and Gerald Haskell.

Born in Pasadena, Calif., she was the daughter of Walter and Julia (Gray) Wentworth.

Mrs. Haskell was a lifelong resident of Jackson. She graduated from Jackson Grammar School and
Fryeburg Academy. She graduated from Douglas College of Rutgers University in New Jersey.

She was a member of the Jackson Women's Sewing Club, the Jackson Historical Society, and the Jackson Community Church.

The family includes a son, Charles W. Haskell of North Conway.

She was predeceased by a son, Walter Korner and a granddaughter, Kimberly Boudreau.

Burial will follow in the Storrs Cemetery.

Mrs Gates worked many years as a stitcher at the David Clark Co. and the former Francine Co., retiring many years ago.

She was born in Fall River, a daughter of William and Harriet (Phillips) Rivernider, and lived here 83 years.

Mrs. Cotter was a stitcher at David Clark Co. for many years before she retired. She was a former member of St. Paul's Cathedral parish and Citadel Corps, Salvation Army.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.

He was born in Worcester, son of Frank G. and Allie (Kemp) Dickinson, and lived here most of his life, moving to Millbury a few months ago.

Mr. Dickinson was a foreman for several area building companies. He previously was a self-employed carpenter and contractor for many years in the Worcester area.

Searles of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two daughters, B. Louise Braisted of Stuart, Fla., and Evelyn J. McCoy of Fair Haven, Mich.; a sister, Lucy Dickinson of Southbridge, Mass.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of William L. and Harriet E. (Phillips) Rivernider, and lived 20 years in Michigan before moving to Concord last year.

Mrs. Searles was a seamstress at Worcester Memorial Hospital for many years before she retired. She was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Auburn, Mass., and a longtime member of Starville Church in Marine City, Mich.

Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.

Her husband, Fred H. Dickinson, died in 1971. She leaves three sons, Ernest G. Dickinson of Southbridge, William L. Dickinson of Spencer and the Rev. Fred H. Dickinson Jr. of Bangor, Maine; a daughter, Mary Myers of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Agnes Cecce of Southbridge, died in 1988. Another daughter, Mabel Watrous of Worcester, died last year.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of William and Harriette (Phillips) Rivernider, and lived 22 years in Charlton and 17 years here before moving to Leicester last year.

Mrs. Dickinson was a member of Elm Street Congregational Church.

Burial will be in Hope Cemetery
