Rumford � Marjorie L. Puiia, 98, of Holyoke Ave., left this world peacefully to join loved ones in Heaven on Friday November 16, 2018. She was born in Bath, Maine on December 4, 1919, a daughter of Harold V. and Laura A. (Day) Fish.
Marjorie was educated in Bethel schools and was a Graduate of Gould Academy. She married Eugene Puiia. He passed away on August 20, 1987.
Marjorie was a Communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior. She enjoyed spending time at her camp at Howard Pond, sewing, dancing, fishing, playing cards, trips to Canada, and rides to Paradise Lane in Bethel. Marjorie is survived by her daughter Dorothy "Dolly" Colton and companion John Ross of Rumford, sons; Larry Puiia and wife Marcelle of Rumford, Wayne Puiia of Rumford, Barry Puiia and wife Bernadette of Winslow, Gregory Puiia and wife Pamela of Hanover, grandchildren; Megan, Nicole, Brittany, Samantha, Cory, Jimmy, Cheryl, Paul and wife Shannon, Heidi and husband Matt, Dr. Adam Puiia and wife Allison; great grandchildren; Maya, Elissia, Christian and Katie; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Eugene Puiia, her parents, and a sister Dorothy Palmer.

May 17, 2017Morey Pierce Palmer, 87, passed away peacefully at the NorthCare Hospice House on May 11, 2017. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at Church of the Good Shepherd, 4957 NE Chouteau Dr., Kansas City, MO 64119.
Morey was born in Winnipeg, Canada, and grew up in Council Bluffs, IA. He joined the U.S. Army and was a forward observer in the artillery, then he was a sergeant. Morey was a high school teacher, a banker and an employment counselor during his career.
He was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy Palmer.
Philip served as a Private, 5307th Composite Unit, U.S. Army during World War II.
He enlisted in the Army on February 16, 1943 in Portland, Maine. He was noted as being employed as a Driver and also as Single, without dependents.
Philip was declared "Missing In Action" in Northern Burma during the war and was awarded the "Bronze Star" and the Purple Heart.

November 4, 2004TOM'S RIVER, N.J. � Parker W. Daye, 74, died at his home in Tom's River, N.J., on Nov. 1, after a long illness.
Born in Bethel, Nov. 2, 1929, he was the son of the late Philip W. and Nellie Jodrey Daye.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was awarded five Bronze Stars for bravery.
Mr. Daye, a carpenter by trade, was self-employed for many years, retiring in 1980.
Survivors include his companion of 20 years, Geri Soden; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Mary Soden, of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., and William and Stacey Soden, of Tom's River, N.J.; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jeffrey Linke, of Kenbridge, Va.; 11 grandchildren; two brothers; six sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes in 1980, two sisters, one brother, and a grandson, William Soden Jr.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Eugenie V. (Surette) Bachand; two sons, Phillip A. Bachand, and Alfred B. Bachand, both of Leominster; five daughters, Phyllis Bachand of Leominster, Fay I. Brooks of Fitchburg, Sandra Thomas of Washington, D.C., Jean F. Wallace of Fitchburg, and Carol A. Gaylord of Oxford; four sisters, Irene Locher of Princeton, Myrtle Locher of Leominster, Dorothy Weymouth of Burlington, Vt., and Flora Parker of Michigan; 23 grandchildren, 18 great-granndchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born in Leominster, son of Alfred O. and Annie (Day) Bachand, and had lived here all his life.
Mr. Bachand worked at United Cooperative Farmers Inc. in Fitchburg for many years, and at ITT Wire Co. in Clinton prior to retiring in 1970. He was a Navy veteran, and saw active duty in Nicaragua.
He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church, a life member of the Leominster Sportsmen Association, a member and past president of the Franco-American War Veterans of Leominster, and a past state commander of the Franco-American War Veterans. He was also a past commander of the Leominster VFW, and a past president of the Veterans Council.

Mrs. Bachand was a stitcher for 25 years at the former Cluett-Peabody Co., retiring in 1963. She previously worked at the former Independent Lock Co. in Fitchburg. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Church and the Franco-American War Veterans Women's Auxiliary.

Her husband, Harry Loescher, died in 1987.

September 12, 2002ROYERSFORD, Pa. -- Ruth Irene (Bachand) Loescher, 87, formerly of 179 East Princeton Road, Princeton, Mass., and Fitchburg, Mass., died Sunday, Sept. 8, in Montgomery County Geriatric and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 17, 1915, in Leominster, Mass., the daughter of Alfred and Annie (Day) Bachand, and had lived many years in Fitchburg before moving to Princeton in the early 1970s. She moved to Pennsylvania five years ago.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Loescher raised and bred Siberian huskies. Over a period of 20 years they traveled to many dog shows, where their huskies won many trophies. She was a member of the Siberian Husky Club of America and a former member of the Holy Family League of Charity in Fitchburg. Many years ago, Mrs. Loescher worked at the former F.W. Woolworth Co. department store and Bay State Curtain Co., both in Fitchburg.
She leaves two sons, George A. Loescher of Aurora, Colo., and Keith E. Loescher of Swarthmore, with whom she lived; a daughter, Lee E. Fournier of Lunenburg, Mass.; a sister, Dorothy Weymouth of East Haven, Vt.; two grandsons, nephews and nieces.
Her husband of 56 years, George H. Loescher, died on Feb. 19, 1993.
She was also predeceased by a brother, Alden C. Bachand, on April 28, 1992; and two sisters, Myrtle L. Loescher on Sept. 29, 1995, and Flora Parker.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Ruth Irene (Bachand) Loescher; two sons, George A. Loescher of Aurora, Colo., and Keith E. Loescher of Swarthmore, Pa.; a daughter, Lee Fournier of Lunenburg; and two grandchildren.
He was born in Fitchburg, son of Carl and Mary (Miller) Loescher, and lived there all his life before moving here 20 years ago.
Mr. Loescher was a truck driver for the former Crocker-Burbank Co., later Weyerhauser Co., for more than 40 years, retiring in 1969.
He was a member of the Papermakers Union and the Brooks Mill Sportmen's Association. He also raised and bred Siberian huskies and traveled to many dog shows for more than 20 years, where his dogs won many trophies. He was a member of the Siberian Huskie Club of America.

EAST HAVEN, Vt. -- Dorothy E. Weymouth, 86, of East Haven, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 7, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, St. Johnsbury, Vt.
She was born on April 17, 1919, in Leominster, the daughter of the late Clarence A. and Annie (Day) Bachand. In 1937, she graduated from Leominster High School as valedictorian of her class.On May 14, 1938, she married Daniel Fayette 'Fay' Weymouth. While in Leominster, she was a parishioner of St. Leo's Parish, was active in the PTA of St. Leo's Catholic School, and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.
She worked with her husband's business, D.F. Weymouth Express trucking company, until 1967 when they sold their business.
The Weymouths moved to the Lyndon, Vt., area and began Weymouth Auto Parts where she worked more than 35 years as co-owner and bookkeeper.
Her family was always her first priority. She enjoyed her flower gardens and houseplants, her cats, dining out, flower shows, and going on bus tours.
Mrs. Weymouth is survived by her husband of 68 years, Fay Weymouth of Lyndonville, Vt.; (601 Red Village Rd. 05851); three sons, Ken Weymouth and wife, JoAnne, of Lyndonville, Vt., Donald Weymouth and wife, Pamela, of Medford, Mark Weymouth and wife, Cathy, of Georgia, Vt.; a daughter, Patricia Paine and husband, Edward, of Bar Harbor, Maine; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Earl Weymouth of Leominster; nieces and nephews.

EAST HAVEN, Connecticut -- D. Fayette "Fay" Weymouth, 96, formerly of Leominster, MA and East Haven, VT, died Monday January 25, 2010 at The Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndon, VT.
He was born March 29, 1913 in Leominster MA, the last surviving child of Daniel and Lilla (Brown) Weymouth.
On May 14, 1938 he married Dorothy Bachand. For twenty-five years Fay and his wife Dorothy operated D. F. Weymouth Express Trucking in Leominster MA.
While Fay was on a fishing trip in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, he fell in love with the area. He and Dorothy moved to Vermont in 1967 and started Weymouth Auto Parts in Lyndonville. They operated this business for thirty-five years before turning it over to their son Ken. Fay appreciated nature and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Weymouth and wife Pamela of Medford MA, and Mark Weymouth and wife Cathy of Georgia VT, a daughter, Patricia Paine and husband Edward of Bar Harbor ME, a daughter-in-law, JoAnne Weymouth of Lyndonville, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Dorothy Weymouth in 2006, their son, Ken Weymouth in 2007, his three brothers, Earl, Lawrence, and Russell Weymouth, and his sister, Issey Isabelle Hiltz.

November 21, 1940Leominster, Nov. 21 - Milford Carlton Day, 54, of 95 Exchange street, World War veteran, died at Leominster hospital this morning. During the World war, Mr. Day served for two years in France as a serheant in the military police, 151st Depot Brigade, 26th Division. He was anative of Woolwich, Me., but had lived in this city for many years. He was a member of Leominster post, V.F.W.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elida (Eliases) Day; and eight children, Robert, Norman, Carlton, Gerald, George, Marie, Marilyn and Roberta Day; two brothers, Walter Day of Leominster and August Day of the U. S. navy stationed in Panama, and a sister, Mrs. Fred Bashaw of Leominster.
Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

May 14, 2007HYANNIS - Marie Alma (Day) Kirby, 84, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Cape Cod Hospital, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Robert Fredrick Kirby, who passed away in 1999.
Marie was born in Leominster, the daughter of the late Milford Carlton and Elida Pauline (Eliasen) Day. Marie and her husband bought their first summer home on the Cape in 1954, and moved here permanently in 1971. Although she had a number of careers throughout her life, she was most proud of having worked for JFK's uncle, "Honey" Fitzgerald, after World War II. JFK, a young congressman, would come in at times and Marie would take dictation for him.
Aside from her family, Marie enjoyed her church, the Federated Church of Hyannis, socializing with her friends, traveling, reading, baking, home decorating, and watching the Red Sox beat the Yankees. She was proud to be the descendant of two Mayflower ancestors and many Revolutionary War ancestors.
She is survived by her four daughters, Arlene Richner of Plymouth, Kathleen Kirby of Hyannis, Roberta Kirby of Wareham, and Jennifer Laverdy of Burke, Va.; her brother, George Day of Richardson, Texas; sisters, Marilyn Chartrand of Salisbury, Md., and Roberta Steinmetz of Lynwood, Wash.; grandchildren, Derek and Kirk Richner and Shelley McCormack, Catharine and Christopher Milholo, Rebecca Souza and Christina Lopes, and Robert and Sara Laverdy; and 11 great-grandchildren.

November 4, 1999BARNSTABLE - Robert Fredrick Kirby, 78, a retired home builder, died yesterday at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a long illness. He was the husband of Marie (Day) Kirby, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage in July of this year, and of Mary Josephine (O'Neil) Kirby, who died in 1947.
Born in Templeton, Mr. Kirby lived in Leominster for 25 years before moving to the Cape in 1971. He was a furniture craftsman and a retired custom home builder.
A World War II Army veteran, he served in Company D, 112th Infantry, in France and Germany; landed on Omaha Beach six days after the D-Day invasion began; participated in the liberation of Paris in 1945; and received a Purple Heart, Good Conduct and campaign medals.
Before his illness, he loved fishing, shellfishing, woodworking and oil painting. Most of all, he enjoyed his grandchildren, all of whom called him "Bumpa." He was a member of the Federated Church of Hyannis.
Surviving besides his wife are four daughters, Arlene Richner of Hingham, Kathleen Milholo and Roberta Kirby, both of Hyannis, and Jennifer Laverdy of Burke, Va.; a sister, Olive Comeau of West Yarmouth; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He had been employed as a scallop fisherman for 20 years in New Bedford.

November 13, 2013ELIOT, Maine - Margaret E. Place, 96 of Beech Road in Eliot died on November 10, 2013 at her home with family, following a courageous battle against cancer.
Born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on January 27, 1917 she was a daughter of Percy E. ("Pop") and Sylvia B. (Haskell) Burgess. She was raised on Blossom Street in the Puddle Dock neighborhood of Portsmouth and attended local schools graduating from Portsmouth High School with the class of 1935. She furthered her education attending business school.
Directly out of school she began to break through the perceived ceiling of working women. She began working in the Pentagon in Washington DC in what was thought of at the time as a mans job. She continued working upon return to the Seacoast for the US Government at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a Captains Assistant and later for Commander's Christiensen and Hansen. She retired in 1977.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband James A. Place, son, James H Place, sister Arlene Grant, brother Percy Burgess and granddaughter, Jennifer Place.
Her survivors include her sister, Barbra Earle of York, daughters Sylvia Bubar and husband Allen, of Dewey Arizona, Margaret Murray of Kittery, Bette Orr of Kittery, Linda and husband Kenneth Bynion of Eliot, Susan Milinski and husband Frank of Berwick and son Jerre Place and wife Donna of Lebanon. Also surviving Margaret is her daughter-in-law Susan Place of Berwick, 20 grandchildren, 33 great grand children and 9 great great grandchildren.
Margaret married her husband of 45 years, James Place and together they made a home in Eliot and raised a family. She gained the position of "Excellent Chief" of Pythian Sisters in the Knights of Pythias in Portsmouth. Margaret was an avid reader and always enjoyed a trip whether around town or to any of the casinos she enjoyed visiting. She enjoyed rug hooking and was the centerpiece of the yearly family reunions at Dead Duck Inn in Eliot starting the planning just after the event was over for the next year.

He was born in York, a son of Raymond G. and Luella Young Earle, and graduated from York High School. He graduated in 1948 from Bryant & Stratton Business College in Boston.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Earle was a bookkeeper for Gunni-Sons Motor Service in Kittery from 1949 until his retirement in 1984.
After his retirement, he became a lobsterman, and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the St. Aspinquid Masonic Lodge in York and the Boardman-Ellis Veterans of Foreign Wars in Cape Neddick.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Barbara L. Burgess Earle; a son, Thomas S. of Arkansas; and a brother, R. Wilson of York.

October 5, 2016MANCHESTER - Adelbert "Del" Beedy, 85, resident of Manchester, passed away on Sept. 28, 2016, following a long illness. He was born June 28, 1931, in Farmington, the son of Paul Drew Beedy and Flora (Viles) Beedy. Del attended the Farmington schools and graduated in 1949.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to the University of Maine, Orono and received his degree in Civil Engineering in 1955.
In the beginning of his career he was employed as a civil engineer by the New Hampshire Highway Department and also by the Ralph Barnett Construction Company of Augusta. Del was employed by the U.S. Forest Service as a forest engineer for several years, working in New Hampshire, California and Washington D.C.In 1970, he returned to Maine and was employed as a utility engineer for the Maine Public Utility Commission until he retired in 1994. Del was a member of Maine Lodge #20 of Farmington.
He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Richard Beedy; and his stepmother, Tina Beedy.
Del is survived by his wife, Lois Mahon Beedy of Manchester; his daughter, Stacie Ann Beedy of Alna; his sister-in-law, Connie Beedy; his nephew, Drew Frederick Beedy and nieces, Pamela and Joclin; his stepchildren, Florence Milazzo Baiocchi of Rhode Island, Ann Marie Milazzo of New York and Michael Milazzo of Colorado; grandchildren, Mikayla and Madison Baiocchi of Rhode Island and Maximus and Tytus Milazzo of Denver, Colo.; along with several stepsisters and brothers, nieces, nephews and cousins.
