Born Feb. 22, 1908, in Somerville, MA, she was the daughter of Alexander H. and MArian Hall Mitchell, who ran the former Mitchell School in Billerica, MA.
Mrs. Maxwell was predeceased by her husband, Maynard W. Maxwell, who died in 1977. She is survived by her son, Maynard C. Maxwell, of Middlebury, CT; and his two children, Scott and Michelle Maxwell; as well as many friends and neighbors.

October 28, 1948South Portland, October 27. - Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at 230 Cottage Road for Mrs. Anna N. Hascall, 79, of 45 New York Avenue, former field secretary of the Children's Home of Auburn and Opportunity Farm, New Gloucester, who died early today in Portland. Interment will be at Durham.
Mrs. Hascall was born June 14, 1869, at Shediac, N. B. She recieved her schooling there and came to Portland as a young woman. She was the first field secretary of the Auburn Children's Home and continued in field secretary work for Opportunity Farm. She later served the Portland's Boys' Club for several years prior to retiring from active work. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Portland.
Surviving are two sons, Lincoln H. Hascall, Sr., South Portland, and Bruce S. Hascall, Portland, and four grandchildren.

May 5, 1972Cape Elizabeth - Lincoln H. Hascall Sr., 74, a former South Portland City Council Chairman, died Wednsday in Venice, Fla., after a long illness. He served several terms on the City Council and was a president of the Sewerage District. He also served on the South Portland Board of Assessors and on the Civil Service Commission. Mr. Hascall retired in 1966 after 52 years in the tire business. For 33 years he had his own firm, L.H. Hascall Inc., and was a commercial salesman for C.E. Noyes Co. and Noyes Tire Co. after these firms bought him out.
He was born in Cambridge, Mass., March 20, 1898, son of Harl and Anna Nickerson Hascall, and attended Nyack (N.Y.) Academy.
Mr. Hascall was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Portland, and Hiram Lodge of the Masons and a World War I Navy Veteran. He was a former member of the South Portland Lions Club.
Besides his wife, the former Evelyn Wunderlich, he is survived by a son, Lincoln H. Jr. of South Portland, and four grandchildren.

March 21, 1999Evelyn W. Hascall, 101, formerly of South Portland and Cape Elizabeth, died Friday at a Portland nursing home following a long illness. She was born in West Haven, Conn., a daughter of Samuel and Fannie True Wunderlich and attended West Haven schools. She graduated from Wilson Academy in Nyack, N.Y.
Mrs. Hascall served on the board of directors at C.E. Home for Aged Women. She was a member of the Travel Club and the Osawantha Garden Club. She was active at the Immanuel Baptist Church, where she had been a member for more than 50 years.
Her husband, Lincoln H. Hascall, died in 1972. Surviving are a son, Lincoln H. Hascall Jr. of South Portland; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

April 5, 1937Mrs. Ada Hascall Penley, wife of Walter E. Penley of Upper Turner street, Auburn, died at the C.M.G. hospital, Lewiston, Sunday evening. Mrs. Penley had partially recovered from a recent severe illness, when her condition again became serious, and she entered the hospital March 30.
Mrs. Penley was born in Durham, April 25, 1877, the daughter of Frank H. and Mary (Newton) Hascall. She was married to Mr. Penley in 1898, and shortly afterward they came to Auburn to live.
Besides her husband, she leaves three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Penley Grant, Miss Ethel and Miss Marion Penley; and one son Clarence E. Penley, all of Auburn; and two grandchildren, Phyllis and Paul Penley.

February 21, 2003LEWISTON - Hazel Penley Grant, 98, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Montello Manor. Mrs. Grant was born in Auburn, June 10, 1904, the daughter of Walter E. and Ada *Hascall* Penley.
She studied piano at the Westbrook Seminary (Westbrook) and Metcalf Studio (Boston) and studied organ in Portland with Cecilia C. Goss and John Fay. She taught piano in Auburn for nearly 70 years.She was a member of the United Baptist Church in Lewiston and served as their organist for 42 years.
Mrs. Grant was married to Harvey E. Grant, who predeceased her in 1995. She is survived by several caring and loving nieces and nephews and many kind friends.

Mr. Briggs was a retired chemical engineer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a carrier pilot during WW II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judithe H. Briggs.
Mr. Briggs is survived by his son, Dave E. Briggs of Massachusetts, stepsons, Robbie Bald and John Bald, both of Greensboro; and brother, Robert Briggs of Oregon.

July 20, 1967Poland - Ralph A. Hascall, 77, died unexpectedly at his home Wednsday. He was born at Pownal, Jan. 6, 1880, son of Frank and Mary Newton Hascall. He was educated in the schools of Durham and spent 18 years of his life at Litchfield before coming to Poland. Mr. Hascall married the former Goldie M. Hascall, who died a few years ago. He was employed by the Poland Spring Hotel and retired four years ago.
Surviving are two sons, Frank M., New Gloucester, and Ralph A., Saugus, Mass., a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Wardwell, Lisbon Centor; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

September 12, 1995Lewiston - Evelyn O. Wardwell, 81, a resident of Sunset Gardens Mobile Park, Lewiston, for the past eight years, died unexpectedly Monday morning at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center Emergency Room. She was formerly a resident of Carthage for eight years and Lisbon Center for many years.
She was born in Auburn, Oct. 4, 1913, daughter of Ralph and Goldie Miller Hascall. She was educated in the Litchfield schools and graduated from Litchfield Academy in 1931. She also graduated from the former Bliss College in Lewiston.
In August of 1937 she was married to Kenneth Wardwell who died in February 1986. Mrs. Wardwell had been employed for over 25 years at Bates Cillege in Lewiston. For a number of years she was employed in the college bookstore and library, she later was in charge of the college post office for over 20 years.
For many years she made her home in Lisbon and Lisbon Center. Prior to moving to Carthage 16 years ago she had lived on the Lisbon Road in Lisbon Center. She was also a winter resident of Florida, where she enjoyed her home in Land of Lakes. She attended the Lisbon United Methodist Church, Lisbon Falls. Among her interests were reading, sewing, knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. William (Charlotte) Mullen and a son, Carlton both of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Joyce Hinkley, Kenneth and Bruce Mullen; six great grandchildren, Christopher and Joey Hinkley, Brandon, Kyle, and Chelsea Mullen and Cassandra. She was predeceased by a sister, Shirley and two brothers, Ralph and Frank Hascall.

February 17, 1981LIMERICK, Maine - Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Limerick Free Baptist Church for Ralph A. Hascall Jr., 63, a retired automobile salesman. He died Sunday in his home here. Mr. Hascall retired several years ago after working 30 years as a salesman for Smyly Buick in Saugus, Mass.
Mr. Hascall, a native of Auburn, Maine, returned to Maine five years ago, and for a time operated the Lincoln Hotel in Cornish, Maine. He served in the Army in World War II and was at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked Dec. 7, 1941. Mr. Hascall was a past master of the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge in Malden, Mass., and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Cornish, Maine.
He leaves his wife, Ruth (Darrah); a daughter, Diane Riggillo of Limerick; a brother, Frank M. of New Gloucester, Maine; a sister, Evelyn Wardwell of Carthage, Maine, and two grandchildren.

He was born in Auburn, the son of Ralph Hascall Sr. and Goldie Miller Hascall. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was at Pearl Harbor at the time of the Japanese attack. Mr. Hascall moved to this area in 1975 and had previously resided in Saugus, Mass., where he retired from Smilie Buick after 30 years of employment. He owned and operated the Lincoln Hotel in Cornish for five years. He was a past master of the Masons in Malden, Mass., and attended many local masonic lodges in this area. He was also a member of Aleppo Shriners in Boston and the Cornish Kiwanis Club.

February 25, 1993New Gloucester - Frank M. Hascall, 73, of New Gloucester, a retired Pineland Hospital psychiatric supervisor, died Tuesday at a Portland hospital after a long illness.
Born in Lewiston, son of Ralph A. and Goldie M. Miller Hascall, he attended local schools. Mr. Hascall worked for Poland Spring Co. and for Bonafide Mills in Lewiston for several years. During World War II, he worked at a South Portland shipyard. In 1941, he married Marie Greene. For most of his life, he was a psychiatric supervisor at Pineland hospital. He was a member of several musical groups and was an auto racing fan.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Marie Greene Hascall of New Gloucester; two sons, Brian of Gray and David of New Yarmouth; two daughters, Judy Clark of Londonderry, N.H., and Laurie Kennedy of New Gloucester; a sister, Evelyn Wardwell of Lisbon; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Kellenbarger was born Sept. 17, 1875, in Montgomery county, and had lived in or near Emerson all his life except for 11 years he spent on a farm near Genoa, Neb. He was married Sept. 15, 1898, to Roberta Withrow of near Colburg.
He is survived by his wife and four children, Mrs. Madge Parker, Glen and Leslie Kellenbarger of Emerson, and Mrs. Jessie Mills of Mt. Pleasant, Ia., five grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Laura Hodge of Genoa, Neb.

Mr. Kellenbarger had lived in Montgomery county since 1915, coming from Nebraska where he had lived for 10 years. He died Monday, March 4, at Murphy Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kellenbarger, he was born March 2, 1903, in West township of Montgomery county and was married in 1931 to Mable Lane, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Richard Frazee of Route 1, Emerson; two sons, Charles of Twentynine Palms, Calif., and Harry, Lincoln, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Frances Parker, Emerson.Mr Kellenbarger had been a member of the West township No. 3 School Board for 25 years and was a member and elder of Champion Hill United Presbyterian Church, Emerson Community Club and Montgomery County Farm Bureau.

January 6, 1938Walter Kellenbarger, 58, a resident of West township, Montgomery county, Iowa, all his life, who had lived on the same farm for 50 years across the road from the farm home where he was born, died at 10 o'clock Tuesday night, January 4, at his home of heart trouble. He had been in poor health for the past two years and had been confined to bed for seven weeks.
Burial will be in the Hascall cemetery in West township.
Walter Kellenbarger was born January 13, 1879, on a farm in West township, Montgomery county, Iowa, just across the road from the farm where he died. He was the son of Charles W. and Sarah Kellenbarger. Had he lived until next Monday he would have been 59 years old. He followed the vocation of farming and was married at Red Oak, January 13, 1904, to Bertha Novert. He was an active member of the Presbyterian church at Champion Hill of which he had been an Elder since 1925 and served as a trustee for several years.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bertha Kellenbarger, three daughters, Mrs. Frank Bullington, of Emerson; Mrs. Ruby Shelley, of Emerson, Miss Ella Kellenbarger at home; an adopted son, Harold Kellenbarger and five grandchildren. One sister and one brother also survive, Mrs. Laura Hodge, of Genoa, Nebr., and H. L. Kellenbarger, of Emerson.

Mrs. Kellenbarger died Wednesday, April 11, at Good Samariatan Center here. She had been a resident of the Emerson community most of her life.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Navert, she was born Dec. 28, 1884, at Emerson and was married in 1902 to Walter kellenbarger, who died in 1938. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Louis Bullington and Mrs. Dale Shelley, both of Emerson, Mrs. Bransford Bullington, Longmont, Colo.; adopted son, Harold Kellenbarger, Carson City, Nev.; 13 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; brother, Raymond Van Wormer, San Dimas, Calif.
Mrs Kellenbarger was a member of WRC of Emerson and Champion Hill Presbyterian Church, rural Emerson.

July 5, 1995Services for Frances Bullington, 89, Emerson, will be Friday, July 7, at Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. The Rev. Jeff Dadisman officiates and burial is in Walnut Cemetery southeast of Emerson in Montgomery county. She died Saturday (July 1, 1995) at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak following an extended illness.
Mrs. Bullington was born Nov. 15, 1905 in West Township of Montgomery county to Walter and Bertha (Navert) Kellenbarger. She married Louis Bullington on December 25, 1926, and he died on April 5, 1989. The couple farmed all of married life in West township and she had resided at Vista Gardens Care Center in Red Oak the past three years. She was a member of Champion Hill Prsebyterian Church and Champion Hill Ladies Aide. For many years she was secretary of Walnut Cemetery Association and memorials are suggested to the association.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne and his wife, Georgia, of Titusville, FL and Max and his wife, Coleen, of Brazoria, TX; three daughters, Charlene Larsen of Aurora CO, Marilyn Krisinger and her husband, Stan, of Griswold and Emma Lou Weitzel and her husband Lee, of Phoenix, AZ; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Shelley of Loveland, CO and Ella Bullington of Longmont, CO.

April 7, 1989Services for Louis C. Bullington, 87, rural Emerson, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel Red Oak, with the Rev. George Weitzel officiating.
Burial will be at Walnut cemetery.
Mr. Bullington was born March 2, 1902, near Oak Hill, Mo., to Henry and Emma Bullington. He married Frances Kellenbarger in March 1925, at the home of the bride's parents in West township, Montgomery county. He lived and farmed all of his life in West township. He was a member of Champion Hill Presbyterian Church and was a former township assessor and for several years served as township trustee. He also served on the Farm Bureau Board and was an ASCS committeeman.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Wayne L. Bullington of Titusville; Fla., and Max E. Bullington of Brazoria, Texas; three daughters, Charlene Larsen of Aurora, Colo., Marilyn Krisinger of Griswold and Emma Lou Weitzel of West Des Moines; 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; one brother, Harvey Bullington of Red Oak; and four sisters, Estella Webb and Corrine Hermone, both of San Jose, Calif., Berniece Rodebush of Sunny Vale, Calif., and Gladine Scarbrough of Gilroy, Calif.
Ruby moved to Loveland Colorado, after her husbands death, to live with her son Gary.

The Sheridan PressRuby Gertrude Shelley, 92, of Sheridan died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Sheridan Manor.
Burial will be in Red Oak, Iowa, Monday. Local arrangements were with Kane Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shelley was born Dec. 5, 1908, to Walter and Bertha (Navert) Kellendbarger. She married A. Dale Shelley Feb. 21, 1935, in Rockport, Mo. She moved from Iowa to Loveland in 1975, then moved to Sheridan in March this year. She was a 1926 graduate of Red Oak High School and Cedar Falls College, where she earned a teaching certificate in 1927. She was a homemaker and substitute teacher and volunteered for 20 years at Mekee Medical Center. She farmed in Emerson, Iowa, for many years and owned and operated Emerson Ariel Spray. She was a licensed pilot and former Iowa Flying Farmer Queen. She was a member of the Mount View Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Darlene Stright; two sisters; and one great-grandson.
Survivors include three sons, Robert of Sheridan, Gary of Fort Collins, Colo., and James of Buffalo; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Resided Longmont Colorado.

March 14, 2005Knoxvill, Iowa - Ellen Cooper was born on Oct. 30, 1920 in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Elza George Bell and Lila (McMullin) Bell. She was raised and attended school in rural Clarinda. On Jan. 15, 1942 she was united in marriage to Birger Brown. The couple made their home on a farm near Villisca. Ellen worked in a local restaurant for several years before receiving a dietician certificate from Ames. She then worked for the Good Samaritan Center in Villisca for 11 years prior to retirement. Birger passed away in 1970 and in 1981 Ellen was married to Ward Cooper. They lived in the Morton Mills area. Following Ward's death in 1985 she made Knoxville her home. Ellen enjoyed gardening, flowers, needlework and hand quilting. Ellen was a member of New Covenant Church in Knoxville. She passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at the Griffin Nursing Center at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 10 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, two infant sons and her brother, Franklin Bell.
Those left to honor her memory include her son, Norm Brown (Suzanne) of Knoxville, Iowa; daughter, Phyllis Donat (Duane) of Aberdeen; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Shepard of Clarinda; stepdaughter, Madelyn Bergen of Gilbert, Ariz., four step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
