Hascall HenshawWhen he was a senior in 1935, his football credentials were solid but nothing that would stamp him as one of Arizona's all-time prep sports legends. They showcased All-Conference skills, but when the All-State squads were picked, Hascall Henshaw managed only honorable mention status.
At that, in those Depression days, Henshaw was one of the lucky ones. He punched cattle, worked in the mines a year, put in eight months with the Highway Department and, most important, he got a break. Tom Lillico, Arizona State's graduate manager of athletics, saw Henshaw play in 1935 and didn't forget. In 1937, he invited the 140-pound asthmatic to come to Tempe and try out. So Henshaw became a member of the finest freshman football class ever to enroll at ASC before World Ward II. The ''Tombstone Terror'' was a key contributor, as All-Conference honors in his senior year in 1940 attest. He was on the first two ASC bowl teams, playing in the Sun Bowl both years. In the Jan. 1, 1941, game, he broke a 94-yard run off a fake-punt formation that was the longest in school history until Max Anderson's 99-yarder in 1967.
In an interview years ago, the now-deceased Henshaw recalled, ''When their end didn't crash, I turned and came up the center. Things began to unfold, and they unfolded all the way to the goal line.''His college playing days were only the beginning of a long association with Tempe. As a coach at Tempe High School, he produced a 9-0 Class B mythical state championship team in 1947. In 1954, he became athletic director at Tempe High. In 1964, when McClintock opened, he took over as the Tempe Union High School District athletic director, a post he held until 1981, overseeing growth that added Marcos de Niza and Corona del Sol, where the football stadium is named after him.

From Kath Davis Presley
I was told my dad always celebrated Christmas with a neighbor. Every ti
me I asked him about the scenario above he always went to another subject. The one thing he always talked about was spending his summers with the Henshaw's. As a matter of fact, he gave me Harold phone number to call when I needed to get in touch with him because he knew my stepmother did not always let me get through to him.I know my father went to college but have no idea which college but I remember he played football. All I know is in his younger years he worked for FBI and retired from CIA. In between worked in my step-grandfather's exports/imports business in Peru for about a year. (He is written up in the book The Bay of Pigs: The Untold Story by Peter Wyden. Good luck finding it. I have been looking but so far no luck. Saw it once in the library and laughed when I saw the picture of him because he had his favorite shirt on.)
My father's first wife name is Maria Elena Moragas and I understand he met her in Chili and marriage was annulled 5/9/1944 (Filled in Minnehaba County, SD). His second wife name is Joan Hamlin Lyon and they were married on 7/1/1994 in the home of Dr. and Mrs. J. H. Cheney - 626 East 21 Street on Saturday at 8Pm. Alabama divorce 9/29/1961. They had two children - Robert Kendall Davis, Jr. and Kathleen Davis. His third and last wife is Diana S. (Do not know when they got married),
My mother lived in Lima, Peru and worked at the US Embassy where she met my dad. He was the Attache of US Embassy in Peru then he was stationed in Sioux Falls in 1994 under the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Then worked for my stepgrandfather after he married my mother and then CIA and he was stationed numerous places before he retired. As a family lived in Panama, Puerto Rico and Guatemala. After Guatemala came to live in Maryland and my parents divorced.
