She and her late husband, Glen Harris, lived on a small farm west of town where she still lives. She raised a big garden, milked cows, put up hay and worked several jobs in town while raising their family. Her husband worked for the U.S. Post Office. She worked at the Shoe Factory for 20 years; 11 years at the drive-in theater and she cooked at the former Turner School. She has been active in the Post Office Auxiliary for more than 50 years.

Up until this summer she was able to cut her own yard, but because of a fall and broken leg in March, had to share the job with her son-in-law. She did the supervising. She watches television, crochets, cooks a little and makes very good pie crusts and hot rolls. She also supervises her daughter in the kitchen.
