May 28, 2003Arthur Ripley Cahill, 95, of Branson, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Williams Memorial Chapel at the College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, MO.
Burial will follow the service at Ozarks Memorial Park, Branson.
Mr. Cahill died at home on Sunday, May 25. He is survived by two sons, Douglas R. (Kathryn) Cahill, of River Forest, Illinois and Stephen M. Cahill, of Springfield, Missouri, one daughter, Susan C. (George) Pappas, of Winnetka, Illinois; four grandchildren, Anna Cahill Leonard, Susan Cahill, Thomas Pappas and Lynn Pappas Wellehan; and one great-granddaughter, Mary Katheryn Leonard.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jeannette S. Cahill.
Art and Jackie moved to Branson, his boyhood home, in 1972 after he retired from the Brunswick Corp. where he served as Financial VP. Mr. Cahill graduated from the University of Chicago in 1931 with a Bachelor's Degree in economics. He played varsity basketball for 3 years and was a catcher/pitcher his senior year when the University of Chicago finished 2nd in the Big Ten. Mr. Cahill spent the next 50 years in Chicago, working as the head auditor at the Federal Reserve Bank and serving as financial VP for Montgomery Ward, IMC and Brunswick corporations. He served on the boards of many organizations including Oak Park Bank & Trust Co., Sherwood Medical Inc., Brunswick Corp., Ozark Mountain Bank, Silver Dollar City and the College of the Ozarks. In addition, Mr. Cahill was active in a number of civic organizations, including 15 years service on the Chicago Council of the Boy Scouts, and 10 years on the Citizens' Board for the U. of C. He also served on the boards of the Community Fund of Oak Park/River Forest, Oak Park High School, and the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce.

April 8, 2004CAHILL -- Donald McPherson, Jr., 87, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in Wagoner, OK. He was born on June 7, 1916 to Donald M. and Carrie (Tavenner) Cahill. Don was a U.S. Navy veteran, served during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He graduated from Peru, KS High School in 1934. He attended Coffeyville Junior College and Tulsa Business College before obtaining his B.S. degree and Master's of Business Administration degree from Tulsa University. He worked for several oil companies in Tulsa before entering private practice as a Certified Public Accountant. In 1976 he semi-retired to the Ft. Gibson Lake area. He was a member of the Southside Sertoma Club and a member of Wagoner Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and loved going on cruises and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Cahill and second wife, Blanche; a son, Donald M. Cahill III and a daughter, Donna Thompson. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Tom Sherrill of Tulsa; grandchildren, Jack Thompson, Carrie Koewing, Bob Koewing, John Sherrill, Cindy Haden and Shannon Tolliver; and 11 great-grandchildren. A special thank you to Linda and Don Flanagan for the loving care given to Blanche and Don.
Interment Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Cahill was born Jan. 2, 1918, in Coffeyville, Kan., a daughter of T.P. and Ethel Perry. She married Robert B. Cahill on Jan. 7, 1938. He died May 11, 2000.
Survivors include a son, Robert Sheldon Cahill of Kansas, Ill.; a daughter, Sherie Adams of Mansfield; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Cahill was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Mansfield.

January 27, 2009Gladys Lockhart Leslie, 93, of Milwaukie, Ore., died peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Willamette View Retirement Community of natural causes.
Born in Beloit, Wisconsin on June 2, 1915, she moved to Wheeling, when she was three years old and grew up there. Her father died when she was eight years old and she and her older sister, Miriam, were raised by her mother, May Warren Lockhart.
Gladys graduated from West Virginia University where she met her husband, George Leslie. They were married in 1938 and recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They raised their family in Charleston, and were both active in First Presbyterian Church. She worked for many years for the Community Council of Kanawha Valley and at age 55, received her Masters in Social Work from WVU. After her retirement, she was an active volunteer with many organizations including coordinating the Meals on Wheels program. Her greatest joys were her family, friends, traveling, and helping others.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Melton and husband, Mel, of Boise, ID, Marjorie Leslie of Chicago, Cook, Illinois., and Emily Leslie of Seattle, Wash.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister, Miriam.

He worked for Kay, Casto & Cheney Law Firm in Charleston for many years, and was a active volunteer in many organizations. He played violin in the Charleston Symphony, and enjoyed traveling the world as well as West Virginia State Parks. When he retired at age 77, he moved to Oregon to be closer to family.

April 30, 2013Ruth O'Neil, 98, was born on February 17, 1915 and died Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Kansas City Hospice House.
Her parents were Stella Greene O'Neil and Harry J. O'Neil, Sr. She was the youngest of five sisters (in order of birth: Josephine, Rose, Beth, Naomi, Mary Jean, and Ruth) and one younger brother, Harry J. O'Neil, Jr. all of whom predeceased her.
Ruth worked as an executive secretary at the Granite City Steel Co. for most of her working life, retiring some thirty years ago and living for the past decade at The Grand Court, located at 107th and Wornall Road.
She was a member of the St. Thomas More Catholic Church and an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals.
She leaves one niece, Peggy Hunt of St. Louis; three nephews, James P. Mall of Champaign, IL; Gerald H. Mall of Hampton, VA; and Edward A. Purcell, Jr. of New York; and numerous grand nephews, grand nieces, and cousins.
Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

July 6, 1925Joseph Ernest Gregory, a life long resident of Washington township, died at 6 a.m. this morning at the home, east of Elkhart, on the Bristol road, in the same home where he was born on August 24, 70 years ago. He has been ill for about a year from heart trouble. Mr. Gregory was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edson Gregory, pioneer residents of that vicinity.
Mr. Gregory is survived by his wife, Rose, a daughter, Ruth Jean, and a son Edson Gregory, both at home; two brothers, Frank Gregory of Washington township and Gideon Gregory of Elko, Nevada; two sisters, Mrs. Lide Garman of Groton, S.D., and Miss Margaret Gregory, who lives at the old homestead.

Mrs. Adams died at 4:50 a.m. Thursday (July 19, 1990) at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born in Bristol. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Rosalie) Isenbarger, Bristol; four grandchildren, including Mrs, Kessler (Rosi) Yoder, Cookeville, Tenn., whom she raised; two great grandchildren; and a brother, Edson Gregory, Sterling, Va.
Mrs. Adams was employed for 29 years with Keltic Inc. and its predecessor company, Finnell Systems, where she served as assistant secretary from 1954 to 1962. She had worked at Ziesel's for 8 1/2 years and was personnel director for the Wurlitzer Co., Elkhart. She was also an accountant for Particle Board and Plywood Co., Elkhart. Mrs. Adams graduated from Bristol High School and attended Anthony Wayne Institute, Fort Wayne and Indiana University at South Bend. She was a member and former first leader of First Church of Christ Scientist and a member of the Alpha Chapter of Sigma Alpha Gamma Sorority. She had been active in the Elkhart Bicentennial celebration.
