Francis R. "Dick" Elliott, 95, of Hillsdale, passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. He was born May 5, 1911, in Hillsdale County, to Francis N. and Ethel (Mosher) Elliott. On Aug. 15, 1947, he married Lucille Jenkins and she survives.

Dick was a machinist for Allied Products, was a member of the Hillsdale Masonic Lodge, and the Knights of Pythians.

Along with his wife, Lucille, he is survived by daughters, Mary (Michael) Reiter of Berkley, Calif., and Elizabeth Elliott and Doyle Scharp of Reading; a son, Francis B. (Bonnie) Elliott of Hillsdale and a former daughter-in-law, Linda Tryon. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ruth Rolfe and three brothers, Rex Pattison, David Melton, and Daniel Elliott.

Daniel R. Elliott, 85, of Citrus Heights, Calif., formerly of Jackson, died Monday, Oct. 2, in Carmichael, Calif. He was a graduate of Hillsdale High School and Hillsdale College and retired from Uniroyal with 37 years of service.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mary; sons, Thomas, James, Raymond and Donald; brother, Francis R. Elliott; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

ELLIOTT, Mary L. Age 92, died Friday, December 14, in Citrus Heights, California. She was at a skilled nursing facility for just over 100 days after living eight years at Crosswood Oaks Retirement Community in Citrus Heights, California.

She was the daughter of Elmer Howell Thompson and Sallie Youkey Thompson of Indiana. She was the youngest of 6 children: Ruby, Herman, Stanley, Lindley, and Arthur. She was the wife of the "love of her life" Daniel R. Elliott, who predeceased her.

She is survived by her four sons, Tom in California, Jim in New Mexico, Don in New Jersey, and Ray in Connecticut, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She took graduate classes in pediatric nursing, was a head nurse on a pediatric unit and was a registered nurse for many years. She served as president of her registered nursing Class, was president of a parent-teachers' association, a Toastmistresses' speech contest winner, a deacon of her Baptist church, den mother and excellent cook. But her main source of accomplishment was her family to which she devoted most of her time with her teaching and love. She was beloved by both family and friends. Mary distinguished herself with a largeness of spirit, generosity to others, graciousness, and a keen practical spirit. She served as a librarian in her retirement community. She enjoyed crocheting and shell art and making family memories and history through family albums and pictures. She was a surrogate grandmother to boys who could not live with their families.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in All Saints Catholic Church for Faye M. Leffert,
86, a resident of Miller's Merry Manor. She died at 7 p.m. Monday in the nursing home.

She was born May 12, 1902 in Hillsdale County, Mich, to Libeous and Coral Edith Elliot Kingsley. She was married to Russell Leffert, who died Nov. 16, 1973.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Daughter of Isabella and All Saints Catholic Church.

Surviving are two sons, John R., 2404 Stadium Drive, and Robert F., 1304 E. Broadway; a brother, Max Kingsley, New Hampshire; two sisters, Josephine Roach, Port Huron, Mich., and Margaret Gollum, Mount Clement, Mich.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Russell F. Leffert, 76, 517 Helm St., died at 4:50 p.m. Friday at Memorial Hospital. Born in Logansport Feb. 3, 1896, he was the son of George and Catherine Burgman Leffert. He was married Sept. 7, 1925, to Faye Kingsley.

A retired railway postal clerk, he was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Robert, at home, and John Richard, 509 Helm St.; five Grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. One son, one sister and one brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services have been set for 3 p.m. Tuesday at At Hinckley Chapel for Serring Amos Davis, 76, who died early Monday at his home after a lengthy illness. The Rev. R. Matthew will conduct the services at the chapel, and burial will be in Buena Vista Burial Park.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, one son, an only child, Roger N. Davis of San Antonio, formerly of Olmito, and three grandchildren, Roger Jr., Aletha and Doreen Davis, all of San Antonio.
Mr. Davis was born October 7, 1866 in Hillsdale county, Michigan, and came to the Valley from Chicago about six years ago. He has resided in Brownsville most of the time. He was a member of the Baptist church.

Bronxville, N.Y., Dec. 23. - A. Weston Smith, founder and president of the Atlantic Paint Company, with offices at 185 Madison Avenue, New York, died today at his home, 22 Sagamore Road. He was born in Detrot seventy-eight years ago.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Jennie S. Smith; a daughter, Mrs. Lucia S. Fisher, and a son, A. Weston Smith Jr. of Hempstead, L.I.

Mrs. Charlotte B. Hascall, wife of the executive secretary of the Detroit Rotary Club died at 1:30 a.m. today in her home, 612 Glynn Court after an illness of several weeks. She had not completely recovered from an operation she underwent last December. Mrs. Hascall was born in Geneva N.Y. 61 years ago, but had lived in Detroit since her marriage in 1900 to Elton F. Hascall, who has been secretary of the Rotary Club for 25 years. Mrs. Hascall was active in St. Joseph's church and in Rotary Club affairs.

Surviving are the husband, a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth H. Malcomson, of Detroit; a son Elton F.,

Burial will be in Geneva following services there Friday.

Elton F. Hascall Jr., 57 a native Detroiter and well known in Advertising circles here and in New York and Chicago, was buried today in Memorial Park cemetery, Evanston, Ill., after services in Kenilworth Ill.

Mr. Hascall, a University of Michigan graduate and administrative director of the Tatham-Laird Advertising Agency in Chicago. Died Monday in an Evanston hospital.

Surviving are his wife Margaret; a son, David C. and a sister Mrs. Allen Malcolmson, Detroit.
