May 17, 2001Bernard Tiffany "Tiff" Doane, 87, an electrical engineer who owned and operated Bernard T. Doane & Sons Inc., an electrical manufacturers' representative agency in Laurel, died of cancer May 5 at his home in Kensington.
Mr. Doane, who was born in Essex, Conn., graduated from Pratt Institute in New York before coming to Washington in 1941. He sold electrical building supplies as a manufacturer's representative and helped develop underwater minesweeping cables during World War II. He started his firm in 1963 and retired about 10 years ago.
His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He was a member of Columbia Country Club, the Ocean City Light Tackle Club and the Northern Virginia Relic Hunters Association.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Eileen Reynolds Doane of Kensington; four children, Margaret E. Doane of Burtonsville, N. Dennis Doane of Millersville and Daniel T. Doane and John R. Doane, both of Rockville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

January 28, 2005Burder Mary Louise (PURKISS Strine) of West Bloomfield, died quietly at home, January 25, 2005, born May 29, 1928.
Survived by her husband F.H. Burder; seven children and three step-children; Linda Darling, Cindy Richards, Steven Strine, Ronee Crocker, Janis Strine, Mary Hampshire, Gerald Strine, Linda Anderson, Frank Burder III and Thomas Burder; her family included 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grand-children.
Mary graduated from Pontiac Central in 1946 and later from Pontiac Business Institute. She was employed by Oakland intermediate Schools and retired from there in 1985. She spent her life in Pontiac until 1974 when she and Frank Burder married and moved to West Bloomfield. Mary was a wonderful woman, whose great love and concern for her husband, family and friends was only equaled by their love for her. Her family was her only hobby and her passing leaves an enormous gap in that family. She will be remembered and missed forever. We loved her so.

March 23, 2003PORT HURON - Ray LaVern Hayden, 77, of Port Huron, died Saturday, March 22, 2003. He was born May 10, 1925 in Port Huron to the late Walter and Phlinda Hayden and was a lifelong area resident. He married Joan Angbrandt on April 8, 1947 in Port Huron.
Mr. Hayden worked as a carman for Grand Trunk Railroad until his retirement in 1971. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Port Huron Masonic Lodge #58 and V.F.W. Charles Schoor Post #796.
Mr. Hayden is survived by his wife, Joan four sons, Mr. and Mrs. Mark (Pamela Sue) Hayden, Mr. and Mrs. Michael (Wanda) Hayden and Mr. Richard Hayden, all of Port Huron and Mr. and Mrs. Randal (Lisa) Hayden of St. Clair a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Philip (Marsha) Larson of Fort Gratiot six grandchildren, Katherine (Dan) Johnson, Scott and Justin Hayden and Michael, Bethany and Jonathan Hayden two great-granddaughters, Caitlyn and Nicole Johnson two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne (Sharmain) Hayden of Sedona, Arizona and Mr. and Mrs. Dale (Sharon) Hayden of Fort Gratiot a brother-in-law, Mel Angbrandt of Smiths Creek many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Sadie.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Ada Hayden.
Burial will be in Downington Cemetery, Deckerville.

August 10, 2006PORT HURON Mrs. L. Joan Hayden, 78, of Port Huron, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 in Port Huron Hospital.
She was born April 27, 1928 in Port Huron to the late Paul and Alice Angbrandt. She married Ray L. Hayden on April 8, 1947 in Port Huron. He died March 22, 2003.
Mrs. Hayden was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the church choir. Earlier in life she sold silverware to newlyweds and was a sales associate at Volmers, The Mulberry Bush, Vivian Woodard Cosmetics, and Avon. Later in life she was a school aide while living in Arizona, was a volunteer at Evangelical Nursing Home and enjoyed needlework, quilting, and generously gave the items to others. She was an unselfish person who devoted her life to helping others. She loved animals, especially her dogs. Mrs. Hayden showed her children how to go about living life.
She is survived by five children, Mark (Pam) Hayden of Port Huron, Marsha (Philip) Larson of Fort Gratiot, Michael (Wanda) Hayden of Port Huron, Randal (Lisa) Hayden of St. Clair, and Richard Hayden; six grandchildren, Katherin (Daniel) Johnson, Scott, Justin, and Michael Hayden, Beth (Jason) Sparling, and Jon Hayden; five greatgrandchildren, Caitlyn, Nicole, and Logun Johnson, and Sophie and Parker Sparling; a brother, Mel Angbrandt of Smiths Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Farrington and Geraldine Francisco; and a nephew, Peter Farrington.
