May 14, 1955Oberlin - Mrs. Esther Westcott Mabie, 65 North Pleasant St. died yesterday at 6:30 p.m. following an illness of seven years. She was born in West Concord, Minn. Oct 5, 1871.
Mrs. Mabie and her husband moved here from Bay Village in December 1948. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active in the W.C.T.U.
Survivors beside her huband Harry S. Mabie are one daughter Mrs. Russell M, Lawall of Oberlin, one son Joseph of Garden City, Mich., one sister Mrs. F. J. Carpenter of Pasadena Calif., and four grandchildren. One daughter preceded her in death.

June 28, 2010Mr. Joseph Allen Mabie died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Waccamaw Community Hospital. Born May 26, 1919 in Bluefield, WV, Mr. Mabie was the son of the late Harry and Ester Mabie.
He graduated from Fort Union Military Academy and was a Merchant Marine Officer. He worked as an engineer for Ford Motor Company for 33 years and was a member of Elks Lodge 2997. Mr. Mabie was also a member of the Shriners in Michigan and Past Master of Masonic Lodge #596 in Mio, Michigan. Mr. Mabie was a member of Belin United Methodist Church.
Mr. Mabie is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ruth; and his niece, Diane Wolmack of Arkansas.

May 1, 2012Ruth Ilah Mabie age 90, died Monday, April 30, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Mentor, OH, she was a daughter of the late Guy and Esther Jenne. Ruth was a member of Belin Memorial United Methodist Church and was also a former member of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Mabie of 70 years; two brothers and a sister.

February 10, 2007DODGE CENTER -- The funeral for Evelyn Emilie Whiting will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Grace Lutheran Church of Dodge Center, with the Rev. Robert Lentz officiating.
Burial will be in Concord Cemetery in Concord.
Mrs. Whiting, 96, of Dodge Center, died Thursday (Feb. 8, 2007).
Evelyn Emilie Kautz was born Aug. 13, 1910, in Concord Township, Dodge County. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Grace Lutheran Church of Dodge Center, where she was a lifelong member and participated in the Ladies Aid. On Sept. 16, 1937, she married Wendell Whiting. They farmed in the West Concord and Dodge Center areas for many years. She was employed for 15 years at Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center before her retirement.
Survivors include three daughters, Bonita (Marvin) Hanebuth of Congress, Ariz., Shirley (Kerry) Koestler of Vining, Minn., and Karen (Jay) Deones of Oronoco; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Armond (Delores) Kautz of Kasson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter and a brother.

December 26, 2004WABASHA, Minn. '97 Mary C. Whiting, 93, of Wabasha, formerly of Waseca, Minn., died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at St. Elizabeth's Health Care Center in Wabasha. She was born March 1, 1911, on the family farm near Kellogg, Minn., the daughter of William and Mary (Costello) O'Flaherty. She was a graduate of St. Felix High School in Wabasha and attended the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minn., for one year. She worked for several legislators as a secretary for the 1935 state Legislature. She met her future husband, Clinton Whiting, while working in the office of the Botsford Lumber Co. The couple married April 29, 1941, in St. Paul. They lived and worked for the lumber company in Balaton and Jackson, Minn., and in 1956, they moved to Waseca to work for the company there. While in Waseca, Mary also worked for the Waseca Public Library. Clinton died Dec. 10, 1999. She moved to St. Elizabeth's Assisted Living Apartments in April 2000, having been familiar with her hometown and St. Elizabeth's. Mary enjoyed her homemaking and playing bridge.
She is survived by sister-in-law, Viola O'Flaherty, La Crescent, Minn.; nieces and nephews, Gerald O'Flaherty, La Crescent, Jerry Stensland, Rochester, Minn., John Stensland, Rochester, Stanley Stensland, Zumbrota, Minn., Dale Stensland, Wanamingo, Minn., Janice Horsman, Zumbrota, Shirley Koestler, Dodge Center, Minn., Karen Deones, Pine Island, Minn., Bonnie Hanebuth, Congress, Ariz. Her husband and one brother, Joseph, preceded her in death.
Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Kellogg.

September 19, 2001THOMPSON -- Ellen B. Dalton, 86, of Thompson, a teacher, died Sunday, Sept. 16, at The Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam.
Her husband, Ernest R. Dalton, died in 1984. She leaves two daughters, Mary Ellen Tomeo of Pomfret Center and Martha Takacs of Phoenix; a brother, Robert Reynolds of Thompson; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
A brother, Allen N. Reynolds, predeceased her.
She was born in Thompson, daughter of Allen and Elizabeth (Eddy) Reynolds. She attended Worcester, Mass., schools and graduated from Framingham State College in 1936.
Mrs. Dalton was a teacher. She started her career in Hopedale, Mass., teaching home economics and nutrition, and then worked at Westbrook College, Portland, Maine, for four years. She also taught home economics at Centenary College for Women, Hackettstown, N.J., for 25 years before retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Sarah Williams Danielson Chapter of the Daughter of the American Revolution in Brooklyn.
