January 5, 2006Helen Vera Allen Larson Simmons passed away early Dec. 31, 2005, in the Vernal (Utah) Uinta Care Center with her daughter, Coene Bagley, at her side. She was born May 30, 1920, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Thomas Edwin Allen and Minnie Alvina Petersen. She was one of the last living grandchildren of Ira Allen, LDS pioneer and colonizer of Hyrum.
She spent her childhood on the family farm near Ucon, Idaho. In 1939, she married Harold L. Larson and lived in Rexburg, Idaho, where she had her first daughter. They moved to Seattle, where her second daughter was born. Following their divorce, she and her daughters moved to Ucon.
In 1964, she married Grover J. Simmons and lived in Rigby, Idaho, for the next 30 years. Grover preceded her in death. Due to declining health problems in 1998, she moved to Vernal, Utah, to be closer to her daughter, Coene.She worked as an assistant librarian in Seattle. In Idaho Falls she was a clerk-bookkeeper at Standard Optical. She then worked at Smith's Chevrolet in the parts department, where she monitored all the inventory. After retiring from Smith's she worked in the Rigby school lunch program, at a flower shop and a ceramic shop. She loved flowers and gardening. Her most valued work was mothering.
She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. Her greatest satisfaction was attending the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and serving a mission to the Washington, D.C., LDS Temple. She sought to learn and live the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Her parents, one sister, seven brothers, a stepson, a stepdaughter and a grandson preceded her in death. Her survivors include a brother, Lenard B. (Mildred) Allen of Everett, Wash.; daughters, Coene (Dean) Bagley of LaPoint, Utah, and Teresa (A. Paul) Jenkins of Pocatello, Idaho; stepdaughter, Carla Zinkan of Pingree, Idaho; stepson, Steve (LuAnne) Simmons of Pocatello; 13 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 26 step-great-grandchildren.

December 17, 1963James Richard (Dick) Long 74 of 1302 South Jefferson, Lee's Summit died yesterday at Jackson Community hospital where he was a patient 4 mos. He was born in Eureka Springs, Ark and lived in Lee's Summit 48 years. He was employed by the Lee's Summit street department until he retired in 1955.
He leaves his wife Mrs Adilla Long of the home, six sons Roscoe Long, Leroy Long, Frank Long, Leonard Long and Eugene Long all of Lee's Summit and J B Long 808 South Harkless, Independence; two daughters Mrs Icel Wyrick, San Martin, CA, and Mrs Minnie Gillette Bannister and Raytown roads; one brother Howard Faust Lee's Summit, 5 sisters Mrs Myrtle Cotterman, Mrs Estie Ray, Mrs Edna Graham, all of Lee's Summit. Find-a-GraveEdnia A. Schultz, age 85, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 1993, at Sunnyview Village Nursing Home in Princeton, WI.
She was born July 7, 1907, in Berlin, the daughter of Floyd and Ednia (Malcolm) Root. She was a 1925 graduate from Green Lake High School. On June 20, 1942, she married George Schultz. Mrs. Schultz and her husband resided in Green Lake all their married life. Edina was a bookkeeper for Wisconsin Power and Light for 36 years, retiring in 1967.
In addition to her husband George, she is survived by one daughter, Phyllis (DuWayne) Bloch of Green Lake; two granddaughters, D'Etta (Guy) McMillan of Arlington Heights, IL and Elizabeth Pettack of Green Lake; and two great-granddaughters, Virginia and Deanna Pettack.
One brother, three half-sisters and three half-brothers preceded her in death.

He was born March 8, 1904, in the Town of Brooklyn, a son to William F and Louise (Lambert) Schultz. He attended Forest Ridge School. On June 20, 1942 he married Edina Root in Randolph WI. George worked for the Drews Oil Company, as an Oil Truck Driver. George was on the Village Board, and was Village Constable for the Village of Green Lake, as well an avid sportsman.

March 9, 1953Milford - Funeral services for Dewitt Bates, 83, who died Friday at Edmeston, were held yesterday afternoonb in Tillspaugh Funeral Home, Milford. The Rev. Phillip Pitcher, Methodist minister, officiated. The body was placed in Tillapaugh vault for later burial in Milford cemetery.
Mr. Bates was born Aug. 29, 1869 at Milford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Bates., and was a farmer all his life. He had resided in Milford until 14 months ago when he was taken to an Edmeston nursing home.
He is survived by a brother, Roy Bates, 4 1/2 Mickle Ave., Oneonta.

June 7, 1946Charles Holland Bates, for many years in the concert and theatrical profession, died at the Bassett hospital, Cooperstown Wednesday, may 29th, after an illness of about three weeks.
He was a son of Byron L. and Alda Tripp Bates and was born in Milford August 4, 1872.
Mr. Bates was a solo tenor with the productions of Augustin Daly in the Daly Theatres in New York city and London. He was associated with many of the earlier stars of the New York stage, including Maxine Elliott, mabelle Gilman, James J. Powers, Ada Rehan, and others. Later he was a memer of a quartet, which was highly regarded in the world of vaudeville.
In 1917, he retired from the stage and returned to the place of his birth where he has since resided. One of his principal interest in his later years was the Milford library.
Fred Rover of Brooklyn, who had been a member of the quartet for many years with mr. Bates was in attendance at the services and sang two of Mr. Bates' favorite hymns. Burial was in the Milford cemetery.
He is survived by two brothers, R.D. Bates of Milford and Byron R. Bates of Oneonta.

Byron Roy Bates, 68, of 4 1/2 Mickle Pl., a retired D&H trainman, died Fri
day at his home after an illness of a year.
Funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. today in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St. The Rev. Dr. Boyd McCleary, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. The body will be placed in the Bookhout Funeral Home vault to await burial in Milford cemetery.
He was born Feb. 17, 1888, in Milford, son of Byron L. and Aalda (Tripp) Bates. He married Mae Rowe on March 27, 1918, in Albany. His only survivor is his wife.
