October 30, 1912Dr. H. B. Leavitt, superintendent of the Indiana State Tuberculosis Hospital at Rockville, die at 12:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal Hospital.
Dr. Leavitt's death was due to a complication of diseases which eventually terminated in bronchial pneumonia and a severe attack attack of throat trouble. Mrs. Leavitt and her brother, Roy Straight of Elmira, N.Y. were at his bedside when the end came.
Dr. Leavitt had been the superintendent of the tuberculosis hospital since Jam. 11, 1911.

May 9, 2004GROTE, EUGENIA LEAVITT. Born in Worthington, Indiana on March 17, 1907, died May 7, 2004 at the age of 97.
Survived by husband of 67 years, Col. Robert W. Grote; daughter, Judith Logan and husband, Dr. Donald Logan; son, Dr. James Grote; grandchildren: Paul Logan and wife Cari; Julia Kidder and husband Bruce; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Genie was a true homemaker, moving with her husband throughout his Army career, living in France, Japan, and around the States, always having the new house organized within days. She was also a superb hostess, a great friend, mother, and grandparent. She will be greatly missed. Genie grew up in Indiana and taught kindergarten and 1st grade there before her marriage, and in Japan in the latter 1940's.
Interment will be at DFW National Cemetery

May 14, 2006GROTE, COL. ROBERT W., Born September 13, 1912 in Rochester, NY and passed away May 10, 2006 in Dallas, TX. Bob was an ROTC graduate of the University of California at Berkley with a degree in civil engineering. He directed several CCC Camps in Colorado before taking up his commission in 1939, and served in the US Army Ordnance Corps until 1965. Among his many military achievements, he was CO of the 192nd Ordnance Bn. in Japan, Commanding Officer of Pueblo Ordnance Depot in Colorado, also serving in the Office Chief of Ordnance at the Pentagon, as Chief of Field Service at the Ordnance Tank Automotive Command in Detroit and Chief of Staff at BASEC in France. He was a member of the Society of Logistical Engineers, frequently teaching and lecturing on logistics, and was also a member of the Masons. After retirement he worked for GE at Cape Canaveral on the Apollo project until moving to Dallas in 1970. An active member of NorthPark Presbyterian Church, Bob spent his retirement years as a avid carpenter, cabinet maker and woodworker, and served as President of his local AARP chapter three times.
Robert is preceded in deathy by his wife of 67 years, Genie Grote.
He is survived by daughter, Judy Logan and husband, Dr. Donald Logan; son, James Grote, PhD; grandchildren, Paul Logan, Julie Kidder and Chris Logan, PhD.; great grandchildren, Robert, Marshall and Emily Kidder, Luke and Shane Logan; sister, Peg Roberts of Denver, CO.
A warm, compassionate man, ever ready with a joke, Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving besides the husband are a son, William and a brother, J. B. Miller of Kendallville.
