Mrs. Claremce J. Addison, 39, died at her home on 115 Moss street last night at 12:20. She was born in Vinton and lived in Calcasieu parish all her life.

Mrs. Addison is survived by her husband, Clarence J. Addison, of Lake Charles; nine children, Mrs. J. White, Joe Addison, Connie Addison, Bessie May Addison, Roy Addison, Arnold Addison, Mabel Addison, Lloyd Addison, and Nina Addison, all of Lake Charles. Others surviving are Mrs. Addison's father, J. H. Barrett, of National City, California; nine sisters and two brothers. Sisters surviving are Mrs. Ira J. Kent, Mrs. W. Pearce, Mrs. H. Pearce, Mrs. Lawrence Lawler, Mrs. George Bult, Mrs. Lee Holland and Mrs. Curtis Straughan, all of Lake Charles; Mrs. Henry Plumb of National City, California; and Mrs. Lonnie Conner of Spokane, Wash. Brothers surviving are C. A. Barrett, of Lexie, Miss.; and A. E. Barrett, of Lake Charles. Mrs. Addison is also survived by her grandfather W. W. Wooliever.


Clarence Jason Addison

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday for Clarence Jason Addison, 74, retired painter, who died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Patrick's hospital after a heart attack. Addison had been ill for six months.

A resident of Calcasieu Parish for more than 50 years, he was a native of Pine Grove, La., and was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Anchor Lodge 59 and Martha Rebekah Lodge No. 2. Addison was also a member of Rudolph Krause Masonic Lodge 433 and of the Sales Street Baptist Church.

Addison is survived by five sons, Joseph E.. Connie, Leroy, Arnold C. and Lloyd D. Addison, all of Lake Charles; four daughters, Mrs. J. A. White of Lake Charles, Mrs. James Fussell of Pdessa, Texas, Miss Mable Grace Addison of National City, Calif., and Mrs. J. L. Gilbert of Moss Bluff; 28 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Preston Benoit of Vinton, and five brothers, W. E. Addison of Lake Charles, N. O., E. C., and I. D. Addison, all of Beaumont, Texas, J. E. Addison of Merryville.

Nina Vesta Conner, 74, of Road 96, Pasco, died Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. She was born in Louisiana and lived in Pasco since 1953. She was a member of the Columbia Valley Grange 938. She married Lonnie Conner in Kettle Falls in 1922, where they farmed for many years before moving to Pasco. He died in 1965.

Survivors include son, Lonnie A. Conner, Pasco, daughter, Ruby Shidaker, Andrews, Texas; brothers, Arthur Barrett and Chann Barrett, sisters, Gladys Kent, Laura Pearcs, Lula Bult and Mary Holland, all of Lake Charles, La., Jessie Jeffrey, Corning Calif.; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Lonnie L. Conner, 67, of 3300 Road 96, Pasco, died Sunday at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was born April 13, 1898, at Rich Hill, Mo., and had lived in Tri-Cities 12 years. He was a retired rancher, moving here from the Rice area, and a retired custodian of the Mark Twain and Captain Gray Elmentary schools, Pasco.

Survivors are his wife, Nina Vesta; a daughter, Mrs. Carlson (Arlene) Fulford, Elkhart, Ind.; a son Alvin, Pasco; a brother, Opal, Hood River, Ore., and two sisters, Ida Stover, Stockton, Calif., and Hazel Winters, Spokane.

George was the son of George Edward Turkington, Sr., and Isabel Minerva Barrett. He married Jennie Emeline Webb in Iowa City, Iowa, and they raised their family in Omaha, Nebraska. He had an office in the Court House and was a lawyer and a real estate and loan officer.

Omaha, May 17 - Governor Weaver will be asked to issue extradition papers for the return to Omaha of Mariano Maya, formerly of Omaha, now instructor of Spanish at Soldan high school, St. Louis, whi is charged with having stolen property worth $1,785 from the estate of his father-in-law, the Late George E. Turkington, Omaha attorney.

Maya was arrested in St. Louis, Friday on a fugitive complaint signed by the administrators of Tirkington's estate, his daughters, Mrs, Isabelle Brodersen and Mrs. Helen Rosencranz.

Their complaint, which isd held by Omaha police, charges that on the day of Turkington's death two months ago, Maya broke into Turkington's downtown office, pilferred the will and two diamond rings and later stole two shotguns from the home.

Then, it is alleged, he drove back to St. Louis.

Mrs. Brodersen says that $25,000 worth of Liberty Bonds which her father was believed to have kept in his office, have not been found.

She told the police that Maya wrote a letter to a friend in Omaha recently announcing that he had inherited $25,000 from the estate of his mother whom he said died in Spain.

"Jack" was the youngest child born to George Edward Turkington, Jr., and Jennie Emiline Webb in Omaha, Nebraska.

He was raised, from about age four, by his aunt, Anna Belle Turkington, and grandmother, Isabel, in Rochelle, Illinois. Anna Belle was voted Man of The Year by the men of Rochelle in 1929.

"Jack" was a veteran of WWII, a Rotarian, farm manger, bank president, Sunday School teacer, Boy Scout leader and treasurer for the Boy Scouts and Camp Fire Girls.

"Jack" was the husband of Mary Margaret May, of Rochelle and father of Jaclyn Jill, Judith Ann, John Edward "Skip", and Thomas Scott Turkington.

Mary was the second daughter of Phillip Willard May, Sr., and Ada Jeannette "Ada Jane" McConaughy, of Rochelle, Illinois. She attended Northwestern University and became a first grade teacher. She taught Indian Reservation children at the Soo Locks, at Rochelle, Illinois, and was teaching at the Punaho School in Honolulu when Pearl Harbor was bombed.

She married "Jack" in Honolulu and returned to Rochelle, after WWII, as the wife of Captain John Oliver Turkington of the U.S. Army.

She was the mother of Jaclyn Jill, Judith Ann, John Edward "Skip" and Thomas Scott Turkington. She substitute taught in the elementary school, taught Sunday school in the Presbyterian Church and was a Blue Bird, Campfire Girl and Cub Scout leader. She was a a member of PEO.

CAZENOVIA -  Harry W. Barrett, 68, of 259 W. Second St., Fulton, formerly of Cazenovia, died Friday morning at Syracuse Veterans Hospital, after a long illness. He was born in Cazenovia and was a member of the Cazenovia Masonic Lodge and a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Lundy of Fulton, with whom he made his home nine years, and Mrs. Kathryne Morse of Cazenovia and a nephew, Michael Keenan of Sherrill.
