June 10, 1932The death of Mrs. Belinda Talbot Welch occurred suddenly at her home Monday, May 30th, at 1 PM. Mrs. Welch had been a semi-invalid for several years but this spring seemed to regain her health and was able to assist with the home work, and her sudden death was a stock to her family and friends. She was devoted to her family and home and will be sadly missed by her devoted daughter, Vaxene, and her husband.
She was the daughter of Newell and Philura Burdick Talbot, born in the town of Edmeston, April 26, 1865, where she spent her entire live. November 10, 1885, she married Lewis Welch who survives; also four children, Newel, of West Edmeston; Murray, of Albany; Vaxene, who lived at home; Mrs. Clark Adams of Unadilla and one grandchild, Anna Doris Adams; one sister, Mrs. Clarissa Welch, of Leonardsville; two brothers, Daniel, of North Edmeston and Ellis of this place.

July 14, 1943The death of Lewis Welch occurred at his farm two miles north of this village, July 9, 1943, after an illness of four weeks. Mr. Welch was born in and was a lifetime resident of the town of Edmeston. He was one of a large family and was born April 15, 1864, to the late Murray and Edith Phillips Welch.
All of the family except two brothers, Bert and Blaine Welch, have preceded him in death. He was married Nov 5, 1885, to Belinda Talbot of Edmeston, who passed away May 30, 1932. Since then his daughter, Vaxine, has kept the home and cared for him. Last March [sic] his oldest son, Newell, passed away.Surviving are his daughter, Vaxine, a son Murray, of Albany, and a daughter, Mrs. Clark Adams, of Unadilla, two grandchildren and two brothers.
Mr. Welch was a prosperous farmer and respected by his neighbors and friends.

December 9, 1942Newell Talbot Welch, son of Lewis and Belinda Talbot Welch, died December 5, 1942, at the Alger Nursing Home in Leonardsville, where he had been a patience since last April. Previous to that time he was confined to St. Elizabeth Hospital for several weeks.
Mr. Welch was born in the town of Edmeston on November 13, 1893. When a young man he worked in the Phenix [sic] Kraft Plant in South Edmeston and later in the Remington Arms in Ilion. On June 30, 1920, he was married to Miss Maude Dresser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Dresser of this place, who survives him.
In 1920 he and his brother, Murray, bought the farm known as the William Dye farm of their father. A few years later he bought his brother's share and has lived there ever since. He has been a member of the Seventh Day Baptist church in West Edmeston for several years.
Besides his wife he leaves his father, Lewis Welch, and a sister, Vaxine Welch, of West Edmeston, a sister, Mrs. Clark Adams, of Unadilla, and a brother, Murray Welch, of Albany.

December 27, 1952Edmeston -- Daniel Newell Talbot, 85, died Dec. 25, 1952, in Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, where he had been a patient for 10 days. Mr. Talbot was born in Edmeston on Dec. 16, 1867, son of Newell and Philura Burdick Talbot. On Oct 21, [1896?] he married Iva __ Edmunds in South Edmeston. Mrs. Talbot died in[1936?].
Mr. Talbot was a farmer, a member of the Methodist Church, a director of the First National Bank, and for many years served as an assessor for the Town of Edmeston.
He leaves a son, Newell Talbot; a brother, Ellis Talbot of West Edmeston; a sister, Mrs. Clarissa Welch, Leonardsville, and nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Taylor Hill Cemetery.

April 9, 1953West Edmeston -- Ellis I. Talbot, 82, died in a Utica hospital Apr 8, 1953, after an illness of several months. He was born in Edmeston on Nov. 25, 1870, a son of Newell and Philura Burdick Talbot. He married Sadie Gates on Feb. 9, 1894. She died Feb 9, 1950. He was a retired dairy farmer and was assessor for Town of Edmeston for many years.
He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Warren Belden, West Edmeston, and four grandchildren; one sister, Clarissa Welch, Leonardsville.
Burial will be in West Edmeston Cemetery.

Celebrate 45th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Belden were guests of honor at a surprise forty-fifth wedding anniversary celebration, Saturday afternoon, June 10, at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Warren E. Belden, given by their family, Mrs. Joseph Estes and sons, Jeffrey and Richard of Fredericksburg, VA; Mr. and Mrs. Warren E. Belden and sons Brian, Bert and Darren, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Belden, Carla, Carolyn, Carl, Jr., and Clarence of New Berlin, and Mr. and Mrs. George Price and Tommy. Sixty guests were served a buffet supper featuring a tiered anniversary cake, beautifully decorated in white with small sapphire blue flowers. Mrs. Belden was given a beautiful white orchid, and Mr. Belden a white carnation. A very unique money tree, the blossoms, being made of dollar bills was given them by their family and they received many other lovely gifts and cards. Guests were present from Virginia, Edmeston, West Winfield, Cassville, Leonardsville, New Berlin and West Edmeston. Congratulations and best wishes for many more anniversaries, Alexa and Warren.

March 3, 1970Edmeston - Mrs. Jennie Edma Phillips, 79, of East Street, Edmeston, a lifelong resident of the Edmeston area, died Monday, March 2, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, following an extended illness.
Burial will be later in Edmeston Union cemetery.
Mrs. Phillips was born September 30, 1890 in the Town of Edmeston, a daughter of Firman and Roselle (Slocum) Perkins. She was married to Benjamin Phillips on July 19, 1909 at Edmeston.
Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Irva Livingston, Leonardsville; two sons, Harry Robert Phillips, Kerhonkson, and Benjamin Martin Phillips, Leonardsville; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Edith Phillips of Rotterdam Junction.

October 10, 1937Edmeston -- Mrs. Clarence A. Talbot, 49, Edmeston postmistress and a former school teacher, died unexpectedly at her home yesterday afternoon, Oct. 9, 1937, a victim of heart disease. Mrs. Carrie West was born July 5, 1868, on Taylor Hill, Edmeston, a daughter of the late Charles and Fannie Maria Wright West. Her childhood was spent in Burlington, NY, and she was educated in the Leonardsville High School and Brookfield Teachers' Training School, after which she taught for 17 years in schools in Burlington.
On May 24, 1898, she was married to Clarence A. Talbot, who survives with one son, Albert W. Talbot, and two grandchildren, Clarence W. and Ann, all of Burlington Flats; a sister, Mrs. M. C. Jenks and a brother, Frank West, both of Brookfield.
Mrs. Talbot was appointed postmistress of Edmeston Apr. 1, 1924, and served in that office up to the time of her death. She was a member of Edmeston Baptist Church.

January 26, 1967Mrs. Anna Talbot, aged 71, of Burlington Flats, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 21, at her home of a coronary attack. Mrs. Talbot was born March 25, 1895, in West Winfield, the daughter of Mark and Mae (Blancher) King. She attended the West Winfield schools and the West Winfield Training Class.
She taught in the Plainfield Center and Edmeston School prior to her marriage on June 22, 1921, to Albert Talbot. She was a member of the Baptist Church of Burlington Flats, the Women's Missionary Society of the church and had served as superintendent of the Sunday School for several years. She had worked with the Home Service Department of the American Red Cross and was a member of the Burlington Flats Home Bureau.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Clarence K. of Edmeston; a daughter, Mrs. Leland E. Van Alstine of Cherry Valley, RD; an aunt, Mrs. Olive Talbot of Edmeston, and eight grandchildren.
Burial will be in Burlington Flats Cemetery.

December 29, 1933Mrs. Abram Lent died at her home in Burlington Flats Saturday following a four months' illness. She was born September 29, 1865, in Edmeston, the daughter of Charles and Martha Talbot Main [sic]. She was married July 3, 1891 to Abram Lent, who survives with one daughter, Martha, at home, and two sisters, Mrs. Lela Woolhouse, Garrattdville, and Mrs. Hayes Welch, Edmeston.

March 11, 1965Mrs. Martha Theim, aged 71, of Edmeston, died Satuday, March 6, in the Clark Nursing Home in Oneonta, following a long illness.
She was born May 5, 1893, in Edmeston, the daughter of Abram and Cora (Moyne [sic]) Lent. She was married to James Theim who died several years ago. Surviving are several cousins.
Burial will be later in Edmeston Union cemetery.

5 April 1947Burlington -- Mrs. Leila Woolhouse, 75, formerly of Garrettsville, died Apr. 4, 1947, in the Meacham Nursing Home where she had been confined for two years. She was born in Edmeston, daughter of Charles Mayne and Martha Talbot. She married Albert Woolhouse who died in 1946. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Angie Welch, Milford, Pa., and Mrs. Grace Miller, Binghamton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Monday in Houk Funeral Home in Edmeston with burial in Laurens."

March 1, 1946Albert Woolhouse, who has resided near Garrattsville over forty years, died at the Jones Nursing home in Oneonta, February 19th. He had been in failing health for several years. He was born at Laurens, October 9, 1867, son of George and Amanda Van Buren Woolhouse.
He married Leila Mayne July 4, 1892. Their early life was spent near Edmeston but they had resided near Garrattsville over forty years until on account of failing health he sold his farm and went to the Jones Nursing home to be cared for.
Mrs. Woolhouse, who survives him, is being cared for by Mrs Meecham at Burlington. He is also survived by several cousins.
The Rev. Ralph Vosburgh, pastor of the Edmeston Baptist church, officiated and the body was put in the Union cemetery vault.

May 22, 1958Mrs. Angie B. Wech, aged 81, of Edmeston, died May 19, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Laurence Hoey of Milford, Pa., after a two week illness.
She was born July 14, 1876, in Edmeston, the daughter of Charles amd Martha (Talbot) Mayne. She attended local schools. She was married to Hayes Welch on March 4, 1896. He died in January 1941. She taught school in the Tucker District 2 for several years. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Edmeston.
Surviving are her daughter of Milford; two sons, Rexford Welch of Burlington Flats and Renwick Welch of Edmeston; eight grand children; eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Edmeston Union cemetery.

January 29, 1941Hayes Welch, 64, prominent dairy farmer, who for the past 20 years was justice of the peace in Edmeston, died at his home Jan. 24, 1941, after an illness of about one week.
A native of Edmeston, son of the late Charles and Emily Simmons Welch, he was married in 1896 to Angie Mayne.
He was deacon in the Baptist Church and for many years had been a member of the Baraca Sunday School class.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Renwick of Edmeston and Rexford of Burlington Flats; a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Houy, Middletown; three brothers, Bert, Blaine and Lewis, all of Leonardsville, and six grandchildren.
Burial was at Edmeston cemetery.

January 20, 1966Mrs. Jennie Jones Welch, aged 62, of Edmeston, RD, died January 15, at her home following a brief illness. Mrs. Welch was born December 25, 1903, in Millers Mills, the daughter of Richard and Anne (Roberts) Jones. She was married to Renwick Hayes Welch on May 4, 1921.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Opan [sic] Robinson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs. Nancy Dockstader of Edmeston; four sons, Mahlon of Port Jervis, Stanley of Amarillo, Tex., Gordon of Glen Burnie, Md. and Richard of Utica; three sisters, Mrs. George Glahn of Bristol, Conn., Mrs, Carl Chase of New Berlin, and Mrs. John Starr of Skaneateles; four brothers, Reese Jones of Deepwater, W. Va., Robert Jones of Waterville, Richard Jones of Norwich, and W.R. Jones of West Winfield; five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was born in the town of Burlington, daughter of William and Lavins Frink Nichols. She married Rexford Welch in 1921 in Burlington Flats. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington Flats.
She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Benecia Letcher of Lancaster, Pa. and a suster, Mrs. Adah Haws, Burlington Flats.

Mr. Robinson was born April 3, 1902 in Edmeston, a son of VanNess Robinson and Grace (Talbot) Robinson. He married Marion Pope Dec. 22, 1924 in Edmeston.
He was a member of the Edmeston Second Baptist Church and a member of Farmers Lodge, F&AM, Edmeston.

March 26, 1937Jennie A. Talbot was born February 17, 1869, and was the daughter of Amanda Talbot Talbot and Arba C. Talbot. Most of her youth was spent in the town of Edmeston. She was married to Charles Huggins May 28, 1919. She joined the First Brookfield Seventh Day Baptist church May 28, 1921.
After a year of serious illness she passed away at her home at Leonardsville March 13, 1937. She leaves, beside her husband, a sister, Mrs. Bert Gilson of Edmeston, and three brothers, Leon Talbot of Edmeston, Wayne A. Talbot of Burlington Flats and Robert Talbot of New Berlin.Burial was at Edmeston cemetery.
